We were selling our house and found out there was mold in the attic. Michael came out, told me what would need to be done (and just as importantly, what would not need to be done), checked to make sure the cause of the mold was gone and gave me an estimate that was below the other contractor I had out. Michael was able to schedule us relatively quickly which was important for the sale and Charter Oak's guys did a great job. They were respective of our home and cleaned up so well after themselves, you wouldn't know they had been there - except for the nice clean wood in the attic. There were some concerns from the buyer and Michael was willing to talk to them to explain what was done and why. Very happy.

Excellent, removed 2 furnaces and removed asbestos from all pipes in basement. Passed state inspection on completion.

They did it a long time ago, but when they did, they were very competent. They charged me about $3000. They seemed to be very competent. We were very pleased with the work. In fact, the only thing I didn't like about him was that we then tried to reach him again for some additional work and had trouble getting through to him, which was surprising since I had already paid him very well. My mother had had a similar problem and couldn't get through. He didn't seem to be so interested in doing the job for her. But in any case, as far as the service that he gave to me, I remember only that they were good, they came in on budget and that they seemed to do the job very competently. I think I received lower bids, but on the basis of quality, I picked these guys.

We met with Jeff initially for an estimate on a property we were purchasing. He worked with us to have the work performed right after closing. His crew did a great job, all work was performed as outlined in the estimate with no hidden charges. We did add a couple small items to the scope of the project with no problems. His crew removed mold damaged materials and sprayed to deter future mold growth. They also installed a new sump pump and a perimeter system at the back of our basement, as well as a new bath vent in the attic. Work was performed timely and to our satisfaction the first time. Gabe was the project manger on site and was very good at responding to our questions throughout the project. We would recommend Charter Oak for both mold remediation and basement water proofing. They use the same perimeter system as another highly rated company on Angie's list.

Charter Oak did three separate projects for us and in our estimation, it is one of the best companies with whom we've had the pleasure to work. Felicia, the office manager, is a gem. She assisted us during every phase of the work. She helped ensure that Charter Oak respond promptly to each of our estimate requests, which was important because we live out-of- state. Jeff Harder, company manager, is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He explained everything in detail and offered several alternate options for our drainage problem. The company is completely trustworthy. Many of the activities were done in our absence and we felt comfortable opening our house to the employees. When we were present during the projects we were impressed with the workers – they treated the “job” like it was their home. All projects were started and completed in a timely fashion. An illustration of their commitment to their clients follows: We were out of town but my cousin routinely visited the house to ensure its safety. She reported increased moisture in our basement. Being 3,000 miles away we were very concerned and we called Felicia. Jeff immediately responded to the house. We had left the dehumidifier off and the moisture in the basement registered over 95%. Jeff turned on the dehumidifier and set it to automatically empty into the drainage system. Left unattended this could have resulted in a major headache for us. This is just one example which exemplifies Charter Oak’s strong ethical work philosophy.

Charter Oak's service was fabulous. They were very accessible. They took my call the same day. He took some stuff out of my basement and left the dumpster for me. Just all around helpful. They were great.

We hired Charter Oak Environmental to clean our central a/c ducts so they would be ready for the summer season. We had renovation work done over the winter and we were concerened there would be a lot of dust, etc. in the system. We had never had a cleaning done before and didn't know what to expect. We have used COE before and were always pleased with their professionalism and quality of work. The workers arrived on time and their supervisor, Mike, (who is AMAZING, by the way) was there to check in with me and get things started. The work was done within one half a day and the crew left my home spotless, as always. When I had a few questions, they took the time to talk with me, fix some things and they even explained to me that a ledge in my great room had accumulated so much dust, that they went up there and vaccuumed it for me, even though it was not part of the job. This is typical for COE, they always go above and beyond. When I tried to turn the a/c on the next day, but couldn't figure out which switch needed to be turned back on, someone came right out and turned on my a/c for me so that my house was comforatbly cool when I arrived home. This is the best company we have ever hired to do work in our home and we give them our highest praise and recommendation. Mike Doherty is a wonderful person and he is always helpful and kind to his customers. Also, this company does great work and they are respectful and clean up after themselves. We have never been overcharged and we have never been disappointed by their work.
