Their fireplace inspection consisted of someone looking at my fireplace and flue with a flashlight getting on my single story home and looking at the cap. all total a 15 min job and charging $199.00 what a ripe off. This was the most unprofessional and over priced service I have ever received.

First time using HomeAdvisor, I was matched with Chimney Cricket and another company that never returned my inquiry. Chimney Cricket came out and gave me a quote; the guy asked if I wanted the stucco work included in the quote, to which I said no, that I would do it myself. The job was to brick up a front window about halfway, and I later added installing the window to the quote. I gave them a 50% deposit of the project on March 18th, and then it took until 5/21 for the permit to be approved. The officer manager informed me that it was because their architect used the wrong form. To be fair, the effects of COVID may have played a role in this delay as well. They finally came out to do the brickwork, which was installed without a hitch. The mason that did the work did a great job and was very friendly, I believe his name was Bob. Another week or so later they came back to install the window, and broke two pieces off of it. One of the pieces were replaced immediately, and I was told they would inform the office about the other part when they got back to the office that day. Two weeks went by and I never heard anything from them. When I reached out, they said they were not aware of the broken part, and they would look into it. This is when I asked when the final inspection would be scheduled; to which they told me could not be completed until the finishing work (stucco, plaster, and paint) was done. This was never communicated to me and caused me to drop other projects I was working on in the house to complete this. It took over a month and a half for the company to get the replacement part, and admitted that they kept forgetting to follow up on it. Final inspection was finally scheduled for early September, and the inspector was going to fail it because they did not put enough tap cons in the window. Luckily, I had some on hand and put them in to pass inspection. My invoice was paid in full on September 9th, and I am still waiting for them to release the lien. They are now telling me (on Sept. 21st) that they will sign the lien release, but I am responsible to file it myself by e-mailing a copy of it to the courthouse, which if it were that simple, why could not they do that? The office manager then told me that lien release is not included in the quote they gave me (wtf?). I informed the office manager that you canot file a copy of the document via e-mail, that the original copy is required, which I had verified with the courthouse that morning.

This company does not communicate with the customer and as a result a lot of things were a surprise. The original contract was signed in August 2018 and the workmen showed up in February 2019. The plan was to replace a L shaped wall, approximately 80 inches by 122 inches x 8 foot tall. The engineer plan came back with a wall 72 inches by 96 inches. After the demolition of the existing wall, my wife and I received a surprise call from the delivery company that the driver would be at the house in about 15 minutes to deliver the ordered material. Surprise, we were about to leave for my wife's doctor visit. There was no notification from Chimney Cricket that this was going to occur. The company correctly pulled the permits required for this area but failed inspections on the first attempt. 2 times though I will give the companny, Chimney cricket the benifit of the doupt on the footing inspection. The inspector was wrong on that one. The first attempt of the stucco was a dismal failure since it did not look uniform. The surface had 2 different patters. The second worker did it very well and I am pleased with the result. Chimney cricket was also supposed to replace the chimney cap and dampner on the fireplace. The workers were sent out with the correct dampner but not the new chimney cap. During inquiry with the office, I was informed that the new cap would be an additional $200.00. The cap was included in the price originally.
