Christa's Cleaning Crew

When I was contacted by Christa's Cleaning Crew it seemed legit as she had 18 - 5 star reviews. She said she could not come after the holidays when we wanted her to because she was booked up so we agreed to just before Christmas. We had presents set under our tree as well as a majority of our things in our garage because we are moving. We have not used any other services as we are staying in a vacation home and haven't needed them as we are waiting for our house to be built. When she arrived (scheduled between 10-10:30am and arrived at 11:20am) she showed up in a very badly damaged mini van and had bills stacked on her dashboard reading "past due." When she went to walk into the house with her things her bag broke and her stuff spilled out onto the steps so we helped her pick it up and felt bad that her bag had broken. Because we thought it would be awkward to hang around while someone was cleaning our house, and figured with 5 stars she probably wouldn't be a problem since we got her from what we thought was a reputable site...we left with our two kids and two dogs in order to give her space to clean. We returned a couple hours later and she was still in the house so we popped in and then back out and went to the sunriver village. As I stated, we felt bad that her bag broke and she seemed to be struggling financially so we ended up buying her a nice new bag in the village and went back and gave it to her but it turned out she still wasn't done...it had been about 4 hours total by this point. Because she was still working we decided to head back out to go get some lunch with our family and wait a little longer. So we left and she texted while we were away that she still hadn't finished upstairs and it was taking longer than she expected. We went on a walk after lunch and then came back to the house, at this point it was about 5-6 hours later. She had not finished the upstairs as the carpet had not been vacuumed yet and the downstairs had not even been started. Being that it was Christmas and, again as we stated earlier that we felt bad, we told her it was fine if she didn't finish she could just do the downstairs bathroom and be done with it. Especially since she hadn't even managed to get the vacuuming, dusting or sweeping upstairs done yet and had already stated that it 'was a big house" though she hadn't even been able to get done with 2 rooms in 5 hours. I have the texts where she said she couldn't remember if she needed to do both downstairs bathrooms and said she was getting towards the finish line around 3-4pm but ended up being about an hour or 2 longer than that. I thanked her for being so extensive and she said it was a big house to which I replied yeah the upstairs is a lot. She commented at that point it was a nice house though and I said thank you that my wife's parents had it for roughly 30 years and we were lucky enough that they were letting us stay to which she replied "very lucky" I told her at 2:50pm, which hind sight was stupid because it gave her time to cover her tracks, that we were on our way back and to let me know what to Venmo her. At that point she had been in the house for at least 3 hours by herself. Plenty of time to take what she wanted. She ended up leaving a few things in the house when she was done (a couple drink bottles) but we didn't think anything of it. She ended up charging us $250 for the service even though she went way longer than was expected and, again, since it was Christmas we decided to give her a tip of $100 on top. I wish we had never given her a tip or the bag. After she left on Christmas day we discovered that not only was one of the presents missing (I assumed maybe it was lost but could not find it anywhere and I looked at the video I took before hand and saw it under the Christmas tree front and center easy pickings) but also we were missing our snow blower from the garage. Again, we scowered everywhere to see if maybe we misplaced them. I distinctly remember the snow blower being in the garage by the front which would be easy to open the garage and walk out with it. Since the cup wasn't a big deal ($16.99) we didn't think anything of that but the snow blower was a major issue as it was bought, on a discount, for $203.96. I didn't want to think the maid had stolen from us but once we confirmed the cup was there before she arrived and gone after she left we knew it couldn't have been anyone else as no one, aside from delivery drivers, have been to our home. That's what also led us to believe she had stolen the snow blower as it, too, was very obviously in the garage where our second refrigerator was and I see it every day I walk down there to get my kids milk out of the fridge and now it's gone. I'm very disappointed as she seemed very nice but I guess I would be super nice too if I had just been able to fleece a couple suckers for $400+ for 5/6/7 hours of non-work.

She saved the day. My job was pretty small, and she treated it like it like she cleaning a million dollar home.
