In a word - horrible. Did not do what they quoted, Did not prep surfaces -- painted right over old flaking, peeling paint. Talk a good game but don't deliver, then steal your money.

Not good... dropped flashing and damaged my ac unit. Painted over wood rot. Did not prep and caulk. If they did they didn’t do it well.

After the work was done on May 14 the sealer never set. Our carport is still sticky after 8 weeks. They have promised twice to come fix it and been no shows. Totally unprofessional about returning phone calls. They painted the outside of our house 3 years ago and did a great job but not this time. Still waiting to hear back from our latest phone call.

Working with Cary and his team was an absolute nightmare. I initially left no review for this work and just tried to move on once the project actually got finished, but 2 years later my house looks like it needs to be repainted so here I am, trying to warn others: DONT HIRE THIS COMPANY! Initially when we hired CPR, Cary and his partner came to the house to do a thorough evaluation and give us a quote for the project. We ended up pausing the project, which they were accommodating about, and when we resumed, Cary and his business partner had split, which is when the real nightmare struck. Suddenly, they were nitpicking the contract and going back on agreements we had made (lesson learned, be VERY explicit in your contract! ex: 1 "piece" of wood initially meant 1, 12-ft piece-- this later changed to mean any 2 ft board that was cut and replaced counted as 1 board). Cary said he was going to show up at 8AM on multiple days where my husband or I took off work to meet with him, and he never showed. Sometimes the crew would just be sitting in our driveway waiting. We felt like we had to watch them, and call the manufacturers to make sure products were being applied as they should be. The project was VERY large and extensive, and it ended up getting larger along the way. I understand this, but it was Cary's (terrible) attitude and (lack of) customer service that made the whole experience so awful. My husband literally cried (sobbed) during this project because Cary is SO TERRIBLE. literally, Cary would yell and scream at my husband on the phone. We felt like we were in a tough place because we REALLY wanted the project finished and our house painted, so we were afraid to **** Cary off too badly and end up fighting him in small claims court to get our deposit back. So I kindof decided to try to let it all go... they finished the painting, we were happy it was all over. BUT, now the paint is all flaking off the house and needs to be re-done. So it was one huge let down after another! Please be warned about CPR. There are similar reviews to mine, and he will try to say I'm crazy, but you will really regret it if you hire them! Don't make the same mistakes we did.
Response from Churchill Painting & Renovations
"This is the first time in 2 years that I am hearing anything that went bad. I honor my warranty. If there is a problem I will be happy to fix it. As they said, they called the Manufacturer to make sure all was being applied correctly, which it was. I can’t fix a problem if I don’t know it exists. Please reach back to me so we can get Sherwin Wiliams out to address with me. I will not respond to the rest as I had posted pictures of this project here in Angies list two years ago."

It is not an easy task to try to articulate the stress and pain that a customer experiences when trying to get a contractor to complete work under the timeline originally agreed upon but I feel inclined to at least warn others and share my experience with this one over the last couple of weeks. To caveat this review, I am an Army Veteran with over 20 years experience in managing contracts around the globe, to include 5 tours to Iraq and 4 to Afghanistan. Mr. Rizzieri's behavior and difficulty in satisfying the terms of this contract was without question, the most immature and difficult I've ever had to deal with. Without a doubt, he will rebut this review and point the finger elsewhere so I will abstain from being overly critical and simply present the facts and timeline to let you form your own opinion. I will not belabor the point, however, would like to let you know if you do business with this company please be prepared to deal with an unfortunately immature owner who plays games if things do not go his way. We were extremely patient and understanding the first couple of days as he delayed our project but we quickly learned that Mr. Rizzieri could not be trusted at his word. All in all, the project took roughly 8 days, which should have only taken 3 days by the original estimate. Ultimately, the work was only completed because Mr. Rizzieri knew I was leaving town and he would not receive final payment until after I returned if the work was not completed before I left. He was extremely pushy, rude, used profanity and threats and quite frankly, irresponsible in the management of his business. I trusted CPR falsely assuming that a bonded and insured business would be trustworthy and professional enough to complete the job. Mr. Rizzieri knew we had a timeline to vacate the home, however, played games and delayed our work out of spite for not receiving more work in our new home. His actions were extremely immature and created a ripple of delays causing the landlord to put off accepting new tenants. The work was completed with multiple areas of the carpet, hardwood floors, cabinets, and doorknobs having paint splatters. When I contacted him regarding removing it, he insisted that I do it with "soap and water" and that the professional rug cleaner in there "was not trying hard enough". I wish I had something positive to say about hiring this company and working with Mr. Rizzieri, however, this has proven to be one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with dealing with a contractor. If you hire him, make sure you get everything in writing and don't make him angry, otherwise, he will play games and try to make your life difficult. He lacks professional courtesy and is only motivated to get paid with no long-term consideration for future business. Review the terms of your contract and make sure you hold him to them, otherwise, he will try to entice you to take on more work and press you for exceptions outside of the originally agreed upon scope of work. We also had Mr. Rizzieri provide a quote for our new home that we did not sign a contract for. When he realized we were not going to use him for the job, he became extremely difficult and played games to delay our completion. I would happily provide a copy of the text message transcript if anyone would like to see the exact timeline and details (the character restrictions on here limit how much I can post). In closing, I would be remised if I didn't mention his last act of indecency and incompetence when 3 days after finally completing the work he was hired to do, Mr. Rizzieri sends me a text message trying to charge me for canceling the new home job. He was unaware that we never signed the contract but still tried to get me to pay a 25% cancelation fee. When I asked him to provide me with a signed contract, he became frustrated insulting me one last time and threatening me to pay the cancelation fee despite never having signed a contract.

The work turned out good. There was noting that stood out , but there was no short thumbs either. That's a good thing. They had a bunch of Mexicans, and probably most of them are not legal. That has nothing to do with their quality of work. They cleaned of afterwards very well. There is nothing I can complain about.

Initial paint job looked great, but they missed a couple of spots. Getting them to come back was a hassle, but after several emails, they eventually did. The patch work was worthless -- paint slapped on unprepared wood that peeled off within a couple of weeks. Now a little less than two years later and several more spots have bubbled/peeled and I tried to use the 2 year warranty I was given. 5 calls & weeks of waiting later, someone finally shows up without scheduling the day with me during a workday -- while I was out, without calling or texting. I only know they came by because they left a business card. Now they don't answer or return my calls. Such a disappointment after hiring a company primarily because I trusted the owner at his word.

how did it go? fair. they use spray painting and there is drift. I had to call them back because of paint drift on the windows. they came. but it would seem to me that they should know that spray painting drifts and would be astute to cleaning any drift. the biggest problem is: background here: we had the house painted in fall 2015. in fall of 2016 I noticed peeling paint. the contract and their website stated 2 year warranty. Cary Rizzieri, President/Owner said in fall of 2016 it was getting to cold to paint outside. fair enough. wait until spring 2017. spring 2017 I contacted him again. Mr. Rizzieri said wait until spring rains stop. fair enough. in May 2017 I called yet again. Mr. Rizzieri said he would have the failing parts painted by mid-June 2017. Date came and went...not a peep. I called/emailed again. We spoke and he indicated when he stopped by that I had a lot of exterior work done and he would have his crew come by and paint at cost. I did have some wood replaced on a screen porch amounting to about perhaps 50 or 60 linear feet. I declined at it was $350 and I could do it myself at a much reduced cost. He was miffed at my turning down his proposal. I then asked for the color codes of the paint so I could by the paint the new wood myself. Yes he said he would have them to me by the next day. that was sometime in July. It is now mid-August. No word, no code, no crew. Nothing. I wrote him stating I was going to take some action since nothing appears to get him to do what the contract stated. Mr. Rizzieri wrote back saying he doesn't run scared. My intent was to prod him into finishing the work. Nothing more. I waited a few weeks thinking he would contact me with a firm date. Nothing. So I decided that I should in the interest of us consumers to post this. I do hope this helps

The price was the owner gave me was based on the boards he saw in the initial assessment. After the workers started, I noticed numerous more boards that the owner had missed. I was charged an additional $600 for the boards he missed. There were spots on the home that were to be patched prior to painting, and even though I pointed those spots out several times, they were not patched properly and are still obvious. They painted right over screws, even though I had requested that they remove them. They definitely did not pay any attention to detail at all. I had to request that they power wash the driveway again prior to staining it due to the fact that they had been walking on it, parking their trucks on it which leaked oil, and cutting boards on it for several days before they actually stained it. I had given the owner a list of the jobs that I wanted to be done. He obviously didn't pay any attention to it, or share it with the guys who worked for him. One of which was the painting of the porch swing and replacing the chains on it. I ended up paying one of the workers $80 separately to do that for me. He bought the chains too short, and now the swing is almost too high to sit in. He also didn't replace the S hooks, so there are rusted S hooks with new chains. I have to redo it anyway. I was so upset by this whole experience that I just wanted it to be over as soon as possible! I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I wasn't going to even write a review because I don't like to talk badly of anyone, but everyone told me to explain my experience so others wouldn't make the same mistake.
Response from Churchill Painting & Renovations
"This is outrageous. I will provide before and after picture, as they say pictures are worth thousand words. This project came out great. It took 3 1/2 days from start to finish. The swing wasn't in my contract to do but we did it free of charge ( and she's complaining. ) we replaced almost 75 pieces of siding in the house. More than half didn't need to be replaced. They were cosmetically ugly for a lack of maintenance on her part, so we went ahead and replaced whatever she wanted an additional cost. Its sad that someone writes a review like this before calling me to come out and take care of any issues that are there. We finish the job to days ago and she paid me in full, I'd be more. Than happy to address any issues she has as we just completed this project two days ago. I didn't complain to her when one of her clients rammed my vehicle while backing out of her driveway while my car was parked in the street. I didn't complain or even make an issue. She didn't even apologize as I would have been embarrassed nd upset with that person if I were her."

I received an email that included a Angie's list coupon it was $1,499.00 for an Exterior House Painting package--Premium Paint included done by Churchill Painting and Renovations. I purchased the coupon on Mar 19, 2017. This coupon gave me 2,000 Square Feet of Exterior painting Prep and Minor repairs using Sherwin Williams Exterior SuperPaint. Included 2 coats, 1 color. This did not include Trim, gutters, fascia, boxing, windows, shutters, doors. If the exterior paint job was more than 2000 SQFT then each additional SQFT was $1.50/per SQFT more. The owner of Churchill Painting and Renovations, Cary, Came to my house on the 25th of March and we walked around talked about what they would do (i.e., pressure wash, fixing rotting wood (I had 4 areas of rotted wood that needed repaired), Prep and filling cracks and then painting 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Resilence paint doing two colors (trim and full exterior along with black paint on the front doors, railings and shutters. He provided me with an estimate of $2016.00 in addition to the coupon of $1499.00. For the painting process to get done we had to wait for weather to clear and in a week they came to the house and pressure washed the house. After the pressure wash was completed I noticed that you could actually see the masonary of the Hardy Plank showing through. That evening Cary called me to let me know that when they pressure washed the house it was apparent that the original paint job was never primed and that for the present paint job to be effective and last that the house would need two coats of primer. This added an additional 900.00 to the original contract. The cost of the Job now reached $4,415.00. I was not in a rush to get the house done and I let Cary know that if he had more pressing jobs he could get to them and get to me when they got a chance. So between weather and situations beyond anyone's control the prep work was done about 3 weeks later. Once the prep was done 3 days later the painting began and the job was complete in about 3 days. During the painting and prep further repair work was discovered which was repaired at a cost of $206.00. Leaving a grand total of the job being $4621.00. My Wife and I were extremely satisfied with the work. I gave a grade of C ( I wish there was a B- Grade) for the price because I believe the price was fair for the work performed and I am a cheapskate. I wish I just could have paid the original coupon price but I also wish I had a million dollars!!!!!!! So the price was definitely fair for the services provided. I gave a grade of B for the Quality only because when you look close at some of the trim work I noticed that there were slip ups and areas where siding paint ended up on the trim and other ways around. Also they were not the best at cleaning up chips and strips that were removed during the prep and paint portions of the job. Otherwise, it was a great JOB. My wife and I love the way it looks and was really impressed with the punctuality, professionalism and Responsiveness of the employees of Churchill Painting and Renovations. Thank you so much Cary and his team....

In February 2017, I hired Churchill Painting from Angies List to do the interior of my home. When I met the owner, Gary Rizzieri, I felt he assured me his company was professionals and the work was warranted.I clearly explained, as witnessed by a friend, that I wanted my ceilings and walls painted with Sherwin Williams paint, same color ceiling and walls with the ceiling paint to be flat paint finish and the walls in a matte finish. Despite his being one of the most expensive vendors that I received estimates from, I hired him because I felt comfortable that he was honorable and I felt I was hiring professionals . Unfortunately this turned into a nightmare. First, I was told that Mr. Rizzieri would come to the job sight on day one, together with his painting foreman and painters and together he, the foreman and I would walk through my home to discuss what was to be painted and any specific requests I had or wished to point out. (For example, the main bedroom was to be painted together with the ceiling; however, the master bathroom was not to be painted.) Before the painters arrived, I prepped my home, taped up window frames, taped doors to closets, removed all rugs, and moved all the furniture within each room, to the middle of the room. Day one, Mr. Rizzieri called to explain he was ill and would not accompany his team; however, I could complete the primary walk thru with his foreman. Mr. Rizzieri advised me,also at this time, that his team would be late as he misunderstood my original statement that the ceilings were to be painted the exact same color as the walls. (The difference was the ceiling would be painted in a flat paint, which the walls painted in a matte finish- both same color.) The team arrived and I walked through with the foreman and felt comfortable that they would understand and take care of my requests. (No paint to be on doors, floors, or trim - only ceiling and walls to be painted). On day two when the painters finished, I questioned the foreman as to how they were able to finish so quickly as there were to be 2 coats of paint on the walls and it seemed the there had not been amble time for the first coat to dry. The foreman assured me that it was fine, it didn’t need to be completely dry, only dry to touch and the second coat was fine. He then asked me to give him the final check. I said that I was expecting the owner to come by to complete a final walk-through and if I had any concerns, to address them, and then I was to give the check to the owner. The foreman called the owner who advised me he was ill and unable to come by to complete the final walk-through and asked if I would give the check to his foreman. I gave him a check for most of the final cost (withheld a very small amount). I said I needed a couple of days to see how the paint would hold up as I had serious doubts that the second coat was put on too early AND, the bathroom exhaust fan was broken since his team took it down and reinstalled it, that it no longer worked and I needed to purchase a new fan and deduct the cost for the fan and installation of the new fan. (The fan worked perfectly prior to the painting of the bathroom). Also, I noted paint on the bathroom interior door handle, the tub, the exterior door to the bathroom and paint on multiple trim areas throughout the home. When I called the attention of the broken bathroom fan to the foreman he did make 3 attempts to fix it. The foreman again called the owner to explain that he tried to fix the broken exhaust fan; however, after 3 attempts, it was still not working, and after 3 attempts to check the fuse box it still did not work. The foreman started yelling at the owner telling him to take the cost of the broken fan out of his check and he and the painting team stormed off without saying another word to me. I called the owner back and said that his team stormed off and I would send a check within a week. I went to Sherwin Williams to speak with the experts about my concerns of paint possibly peeling as I felt the second coat was applied to soon (within 30 minutes of the first coat). According to Sherwin Williams,30 minutes is not sufficient time for paint to dry WELL ENOUGH for a second coat of paint to be put on. After waiting 4 days, I called the owner and said that I had some concerns about some areas that needed to be repainted or touched up, and I followed up with an email to include pictures of the areas that required touchup. The owner and I agreed to a Saturday, 2 weeks after the original paint job. I fully expected the team to return, complete/touchup, honor the warranty. On the morning I expected them I received a text saying they would not come back. I said, so you are not honoring your warranty? (100% complete satisfaction before payment due); the excuse for not honoring the warranty - I had done a little touchup myself. The owner said I am paid in full. (The area I touched up was in the living room near a window, as I rehung my window treatments and put a mark on the wall, so I touched it up (this did not effect the areas they originally painted and needed to touch up). I regret having hired this company and would NEVER recommend them. I am very disappointed that Angies List has them as a recommended vendor.
Response from Churchill Painting & Renovations
"I can only say this is a joke. This client advised me to bring. Iré paint as she and her boyfriend ( a painter ) used up what we left to do touch ups. I explained that they should have waited for us. This voided the warranty. She also wouldn't allow us to come back since she claimed a representative from Sherwin Williams told her the painters needed to wait 3 weeks before applying the second coat. This was too strange for me. I've never in my 35 years have heard what she told me. She owed me a balance of $400 I told her to keep the money and use it and touch it up yourself as her boyfriend is an accredited Painter. Other than touchups we did a great job in the house looked wonderful. Don't always believe everything somebody right as you're looking for sympathy. Especially this client, as her father was a general contractor and nownone of this makes any sense what was even remotely reasonable."

Whole experience was beyond awful. Workmanship was exceptionally poor and not up to code. Work was started 4 months late and was not finished/contract not fulfilled, even though I paid in full. We would not hesitate to recommend Churchill Painting & Rennovations for painting services. The owner, Cary Rizzieri, was great to work with. He came by prior to the beginning of the project and looked through the rooms and even helped us with paint choices. The crew was punctual and thorough. The outcome is excellent! The whole process was smooth and the project was completed in 1 day. We are extremely happy. We will use Churchill again.

I got estimates from 3 companies for the job that needed to be done and Churchill came in right about the same price as the other two for doing the same work with the same materials. I decided to go with them based on Angie's List reviews and accolades. I had a very different experience from all those with glowing reviews. I dealt directly with the owner, mostly via text messages. There were several times when I was told someone would be at my house to do work, but they never showed up and I didn't hear from the owner about it until I texted to ask what happened. There was always an excuse. Eventually, the house was painted and it looks good. The painting crew was very courteous but kind of sloppy. I found several places of smudged white paint on my decks and patio furniture. Some of it was cleaned up and taken care of after I asked. However, I was left with one shutter unpainted and not fully attached to the house despite asking for that to be finished as well. The owner apologized for the shutter not being painted and - on 3 occasions - said that someone would be out to finish. No one ever showed up on any of those occasions. Unfortunately, I paid for the job in full before going to work on what was to be the last day of work. So after the third no-show to finish the job (which was a week after they had all packed up and left), I filed a complaint with the BBB. The owner sent be a somewhat rude text after that saying that I was "ridiculous for filing a complaint for just one shutter". But again, he said he'd have someone come finish. That was 2 weeks ago and the shutter still hangs (partly) unpainted (see picture). Now I will have to go buy paint and finish the job I paid them to do. Do yourselves a favor and go with another painting company - this one is not worth the hassles. UPDATE: the shutter was painted and hung today and now the job is done and my house looks great.
Response from Churchill Painting & Renovations
"This job came out great. We had to replace all the cornerboards on the entire house and chimney. As well as other areas of bad wood. We did that and it took an extra half day. We painted her house which also took an extra half day. She was mad that I'd took a day longer. Not everything always goes according to estimates times. We did get some paint on the deck which she said don't worry because she was re staining her decks. We did return right away to clean the deck and place furniture back on porch. We did get a few finger prints on her furniture and cleaned them off. We had trouble re hanging. One shutter. It does appear that it needs a second coat. This client got very angry with us because it wasn't done on time and I didn't appreciate the fact that we took our time to make sure it was all done correct and she didn't care. I don't go back to put another coat in one shutter because she wrote a complaint to BBB regarding a shutter. We have always gone back to fix things. When she wasn't polite I didn't respond well to it and I now realize I should have. I tried to have the shutter re painted this morning but she will not return my calls, texts or voicemail. For this I do apologize as I was upset as well. Two wrongs never make it right and I was wrong. We will re paint the one shutter when she gets back to me to do it. Thank you for allowing us to " bring your home back to life " as it looks great. Cary Rizzieri"

We were very pleased with the service.  First, they took time to provide a thorough inspection of our house and gave detailed estimate of what work would be done.  The price was very much lower than the other quote we  received. The work was done very quickly.  The crew were very polite and professional.  Our house looks amazing and we are so glad we found this company on Angie's list.  A great experience from start to finish!
