Chad painted our 30 year-old+ Morton building and it looks fabulous. The paint had faded and the building was looking pretty tired. Chad power-washed and then repainted using paint that will last for many years. I really appreciated the quality work. The lines between the two colors we chose were tight. Additionally, Chad overcommunicated to ensure we had current status without question--especially given this was such a large job. For example, it was raining one of the days he was scheduled to paint. He called anyway to make sure we knew he would not be there and provide an update on status. Awesome customer focus and experience! Excellent results! Highly recommend!

I hired C & J Painting on 3/24/24 to rebuild the deck staircase and paint it. At every turn, Chad had excuses as to why he could not complete the work despite the fact that he cashed the check on the day that it was written, 3. 24. 24. Although there were some occasions of rain, he had personal excuses, equipment failures, and decisions made to take other jobs to earn money, putting my job on hold. I have a long history of backback-and-fortht messages trying to get him to complete the work. He started building last week and this week, and the work is inferior. Although the deck is structurally sound, it is poorly crafted. When brining this to his attention, he argued with me, even after my sending photographs to prove what I was telling him. In fact, I had a colleague (who is a contractor) look at the photographs and tell me that the job was shotty. My landscaper also came to review the deck work and told me the same. Chad argued with me constantly. After three months of back and forth, I fired him and asked him to come and get his materials and not to continue with painting. I have tried several times to speak with him about craftsmanship and quality but to no avail. Now I have to hire another contractor and pay again for materials to fix everything wrong. I have a detailed group of photographs, text messages, the original invoice, and a signed check. I have asked him for the receipts for each item purchased, but he will not provide them. I want to recover my deposit and hire a new contractor to rebuild the staircase.

"[Member Name Removed], you hire us to remove half the steps, add a landing, and build steps to add an area for you to rest halfway up the steps. we had about 2 months of rain that we were not able to pour concrete. once we started and was there for 10 days and built the pillars your landscaper came down took pictures of where the landing would be then you came out and said you didn't want pillars, so we had to do away with them per your request. You never asked to see the receipts for lumber you asked for the receipts for your taxes. I explained to you that the receipt where for my taxes and you couldn't deduct them from yours. you also told me your landscaper would build a landing for the stringers at the end of new steps and he never did so i put in a concrete slap that I wasn't supposed to do or wasn't paid to do. also, your landscaper asked us if we were replacing the decking boards up top of the deck with composite decking because your dogs scratched the wood. I explained to him the deck nor composite materials where part of the scope. you came down the deck to the landing and complemented how sturdy and good the deck looked and was. once you picked out color for the stain and realized we would be done in one day you talked about how many hours we worked and that you thought we were making 4 grand to stain in one day. I explained we had 3300 dollars in materials, of which I do have receipt, and messaged me that night you didn't want to pay any more money after we stained the deck. The only lumber that needs replaced is lumber that is from the existing deck that you and your landscaper didn't want to replace for financial reasons. I have all the text messages from you regarding the landscaper communication with you. You asked me if I would replace the upper steps at my cost. the only lumber that you need to replace is lumber you didnt want to replace"

Terrible. I paid him a $6,000 deposit. The day he was to start he texted me to say he couldn't do the job due to a personal emergency and would refund my deposit, less the materials that he ordered. Five months later, after multiple excuses, I still don't have my deposit back. (I mailed you a check, I don't have my checkbook, I'll be back in a few days, I have a limit on my ATM card, I'll be back on Jan 3 and bring you your money, my bank doesn't have a local branch, I don't use paypal/venmo so I can't refund your money that way...). Chad has not made any attempt to contact me, to keep me informed or to settle this problem. I have had to call and text him, when he changed phone numbers he didn't tell me and I had to figure out his new number in Texas. When I called him he answered right away, and when I told him who it was he hung up on me. Since he returned to the area I offered him an opportunity to do other work in place of refunding my deposit. Three times he didn’t show up, and now claims he has COVID.

"The money that was paid was for materials which we delivered and used by you. There was no additional money over materials. You were supposed to supply heat for finishing but had to wait on hvac so we had to go do other work. You also stated you wouldn't rehire yet you called asking me to hang, finish, and paint your office. You don't get money for materials you use."

Chad and son were very professional and worked hard even though the rain was persistent at times. And they didn’t slow down even in 90 degree temps. I would highly recommend them and Will give them future painting projects.
