They need to answer their phone and not use the same plumbing under my sink. They did not take responsibility and I had to use another plumber to complete the work of replacing my pipes underneath.

The kitchen sinks drain is rusting. They came before, to fixed it but it took time for them to came out and acknowledge me. I once get a hold of them when Angel List called them for me. They re do it but still the other side is starting to get rusting again. I been calling them again and again, and they are not taking my calls or calling me back , so I have a different company to come out to fix this problem.

Don Wilkerson is the owner of this company. He was paid $20,000 down on a $40,000 project. His crew did the demo on the kitchen and then the excuses came from Don why he couldn't do any more work. He has left town with my money - his lines are disconnected, his electrical and remodeling licenses have been suspended and his building has been locked. He owes the IRS over $100,000.

I met the owner of CKBR at a home show. He was very nice and eager to come out, see what we needed and get things going. Upon signing their contract and paying more than half of the $60,000.00 job, they arrived at my home. They tore everything out of my kitchen and bathroom. In the bathroom, they removed everything down to the wall. That took about 2 days to complete. They left and I have not seen them since. I have made numerous attempts to reach them and they do not return my calls.

Very well. An old-style tub was removed, and in its place CKBR designed an installed a modern spa-like shower. We also replaced the carpeted bathroom with tile, put in new cabinets and lighting, and added a marble countertop.

Dreadful! 2-3 week project is now on MONTH 5. Contractor did not get a permit at start of job and when he finally did, the tile floor had to be demo'd. Shower entry didn't meet code and pony wall had to be redesigned. Contractor wanted us to pay extra for new glass on pony wall, which was only needed because his design didn't meet code. Lots of uneven tile. As of today, still have uneven grout lines, glass on the pony wall that doesn't match the angle of the wall, a messy glob that is supposed to be a corner, and 5 tiles of the same color touching in the mosaic deco band.

The owner came and did a bid, and while he wasn't the lowest, we felt his company was the best choice. The project is ongoing. We are through the demolition and just starting to frame out the new bathroom. Obviously it's too early to draw final conclusions. So far we are very unimpressed. The main issue is communication. The field 'manager' for this project has consistently failed to communicate. While my wife is mostly at home, she has obligations and out of house things to do, and this company evidently feels they can show up randomly without calling, and expect her to be there to let them work for half a day or a full day, etc. Once, a week went by with us calling and calling asking if and when the next person was coming. No call backs..for a WEEK. Then randomly someone shows up to do this or that next step in the process. We want the job to move forward, but we need a schedule of some kind. All these companies struggle with keeping good people. I get that. So we tried several times to get a reaction from the people we interacted with, but whether this is because the people involved just don't HAVE any more to give us, or some other reason...I don't know. The owner had told me, jokingly, that we'd be angry with him at some point during the process, but I figured it'd be because of dust, etc etc. No remodel goes 'well', I understand this. But...really? No return of multiple calls, no one shows up for a week, then a new guy shows up at 0730 without warning and expects us to be happy to see him?

We hired this company to fix up two of our restrooms (master and children’s). The children’s restroom was completed first and was a much simpler design than our master. We chose acrylic shower walls for this restroom, a new vanity area, new flooring, and some minor electrical changes. The children’s restroom was projected to take 2-3 weeks and ended up taking about 3 weeks. The master restroom was a much larger job and took much more time to complete. I made a last-minute change to my design after the project was already underway and the company was very accommodating. The master was projected to take 6-8 weeks and ended up taking 12 weeks. It is challenging to have construction going on in your home. More importantly is that both of the bathrooms look stunning, even better than I had anticipated. One of our friends recently did a remodel and was satisfied with her result until seeing ours. It truly is exceptional work.

CKBR did a fantastic job on my kitchen. I hired them sevral years ago to redo my master bathroom. I called the office and requested Gayle to come out for an estimate but found out he recently passed away. I was very sad. To hear that as i had really come to enjoy him with the experience of our bathroom remodel. Instead Ray came out and made our decision to hire them again very easy project was estimated to take 4-6 weeks and ended up taking the full 6. Both of my experiences with them have involved very respectful and friendly workers and beautiful craftsmanship.

They worked with me to be able to use the house while they worked. When I raised questions or issues, they were extremely responsive. This was my second project with them and I was very pleased both times.

I’m not someone who typically feels moved to write reviews. I feel moved to write a review for CKBR, especially because I see some negative reviews. I have so much respect for this company. They completed a kitchen and bathroom remodel for us. My husband worked as a project manager for much of his career in residential remodel. With this being said, we had high expectations but also realistic expectations. I think it is very important to have realistic expectations when endeavoring on a home remodel project and I think some of the bad reviews on here stem from people who had/have unrealistic expectations. When you are doing a remodel, your home turns into a construction zone. A delay is enough to make you want to pull your hair out and scream at somebody. You want nothing more than to have your home back in a timely manner. We are all human and probably would all feel similarly in this situation. But the reality is, in the construction industry – delays happen, ALL THE TIME. My husband says, “it’s not IF there will be a delay, it’s what the delay will be”. If you are not prepared to deal with a delay or a hiccup along the way, then you should probably not get your home remodeled. I do not say that to be snarky, I say that to save you your sanity. For our project, we had two delays. We had a delay regarding countertops and then another delay that was actually caused by us. We changed our mind on the deco tile we selected. CKBR began the installation of our deco tile in our bathroom and I did not like how it looked. I chose the tile myself and it wasn’t until I saw it go up in the bathroom that I decided it wasn’t what I wanted. Don and Ray were beyond accommodating and arranged to have the interior designer make a home visit with samples to reselect my deco tile. They didn’t charge me for this (even though I gladly would have paid). The designer came out and I selected a new tile that I LOVED. We completed a change order for the cost of the new tile and I paid it on the spot. They did not charge me for the extra labor to tear out what they had done which was nice. I then got a phone call a few days later from the designer who let me know they had a bunch of the deco tile I selected in stock from something they mis-ordered months ago. She informed me that since they already had the tile in stock and paid for – it wouldn’t be as expensive as expensive as the change order I paid for. They ended up putting a credit on my account for the difference. That blew me away because I would have never know this if they were not forthcoming and they could have EASILY kept the additional money. I gained a lot of trust for them from that. Fast forward to the completion of the project, my kitchen and bathroom were completed and looked amazing. About a week after the job was done, I noticed there was some sealing that was missed on an area on the kitchen countertop. I called the office to let them know and within 3 days they had a guy out there to fix it. Everyone I dealt with was extremely pleasant and they just left a great taste in my mouth. Since then, I have recommended them to several people, one of whom (my neighbor) has actually hired them to do her kitchen. The project is currently in process and she is pleased with them as well. I wanted to show you guys some love and give you a good review because you deserve it. I will continue recommending you to all my friends and family.

We contracted with CKBR to remodel our 3 bathrooms. They have been at it for over 8 months and still have not finished. Bathroom #1 took 5 weeks; they said it would take 2-3. Bathroom #2 took 15 [fifteen!] weeks; they said it would take 5-6. They are still working on #3; it's been over 3 weeks since demolition, and they have had workers on-site only 3 half-days total. During the demolition, they caused damage to other areas of our house, e.g., water damage to ceilings and a wall, one of the workers put his foot through the dining room ceiling, and one worker was cutting Hardiebacker outside and cut holes in the exterior stucco. It took weeks for them to repair each of these. When they were delivering our custom bathtub, it ended up lying busted on the freeway because they didn't tie it down well enough. In fairness, CKBR is very good at two things: big promises and even bigger excuses. If you're lookig for work done in a reasonable time and a company that you can trust, look elsewhere.

Stay away from this company they are a Ponzi scheme. Beware of companies that ask for a deposit up front as this company does. To start the contract required 30% up front with $10,000 to be paid each time work on a new item was started. After making four payments of $10,000 each, I noticed a pattern of CKBR requesting payment for the start of a new item on Fridays which is CKBR's pay day to their employees. Before work was completed they would request payment again to start work on another new item once again on a Friday. At this point I had paid $40,000 for four items which were not completed as well as the initial 30% deposit. I made it clear I would not make additional payments until the half of my home they were hired to complete first was done and informed them I may not want to continue to use them to complete the second half of my home remodel. I asked for a date they would complete the first half of my home as well as an accounting. I also asked for reimbursement of a new table top which CKBR broke when they moved the table top without my permission. I was told by the project manager I would definitely be reimbursed. To date, CKBR has not provided an accounting or reimbursement for my table top even after three requests and the workers stopped showing up at my home completely abandoning the job and stealing my money. Now I am entrusting a construction attorney as well as the ROC to help me recoup my credit balance and complete all the work left undone on the first half of my home.

"I guess I should have known better when you told me you already fired one contractor first I'm sorry this ended up this [Member Information Removed] 2nd this is a very large project. I have purchased thousands of dollars of materials, thousands of dollars of labor and design work your expectations are unrealistic. We were moving along faster than the industry standard. I will never start a job like this without a deposit and a payment schedule of which you agreed to and we had delivered each and every milestone. You will see in our accounting that we have earned more than your payment. There was no contingency on what was owed if you fired me. The ROC will justify our actions. We have done nothing wrong especially be involved in a PONSI scheme unbelievable"

FANTASTIC! We placed our order with Don who was extremely kind and professional. He appeared to know the business inside and out and helped us make some style selections that added value and quality to our home. We were very grateful to meet/work with him as we were becoming stressed with the size and scope of the project we took on... overall CKBR made the entire process as easy as possible (especially since my fiance was pregnant at the time!) Side notes: The tradesmen who entered our home were CLEAN! I can't stress this enough... I hate when my home feels invaded and disrespected- but that was NOT the case with CKBR - they were kind, courteous and spoke English... thats was a breath of fresh air!

First Don came out to the house & gave me a quote right on the spot which I wasn't expecting. Two days later I went to the showroom & Donna the designer did a great job with suggestions & guidance on my material selections. The rest of the time I dealt with Shane who was my project manager. He was very knowledgeable & did a good job of keeping me informed as to what was happening when. The couple times I called into the office with questions Cathy was a big help. From the time the job started to the time it was finished took 8 weeks. I was told it would take 6 1/2 so they went over a little but that was not a big deal to me since they kept me informed along the way. I couldn't be happier about the way everything looks.

This is an addendum to a kitchen and bathroom remodel done early 2017. The issues that were a problem have been corrected. I am glad the contractor, Don Wilkerson, cared about us as customers and his business obligation to see that the job was satisfactory and complete. He has earned our trust with this concern and corrective work.
