Hired them about 8 months ago and the job went fine. Had work done on our veranda and dust was everywhere, so called them a couple of weeks ago, and due to the weather, 2 cases of flu (ours, not theirs) we had to change the date several times - to which they were very accommodating and flexible. As before, it was remarkable how much clearer our windows are!

The expensive French back door screen has never worked correctly even though it has been replaced once. I noticed it was not closed early today and got up and closed it again. I closed it correctly and two minutes later I looked up and it was open again. It does not latch correctly or at least does not stay latched. The front door I had them add a storm door. They did not drill the holes in it correctly, so when they attached the drilled piece it put the door in a bind and prevented it from locking correctly. Shoddy work. Two years later I see they have an AA rating on Angie's List and I can't believe it. <br />

They arrived exactly when schedule, completed the job on time, and did an excellent job of cleaning the entire yard. The workmen were very polite. James who was our initial contact was very professional and helpful. <br />

I highly encourage you to choose another provider for your windows. I really believe Ray and his crew mean well, but they just don't have the skill or ability to complete a professional job. My horror story started back in December. Ray had come out to measure and give me an estimate, assuring me that to replace 8 windows, it would be a 1 day job. There was the potential that the crew may need to come back a 2nd day, but it would mainly be to finish up exterior work and inspect. 7 weeks later!! The job is nearing the end. Honestly I am not satisfied with the product at this point, but I have notified Ray that I will just finish up the rest of the job on my own, rather than having to take off work another day to have his crew come by. <br />  My main issues with Clear Choice and Ray's crew specifically are these: 1) I estimate that I have had to take off of work around 10 separate days over 7 weeks to make my home available for the crew to work. I give Ray credit, they are responsiveness and extremely apologetic. Ray means well, he just can't get the job done. The crew typically would arrive about when they said they would but here is the catch: they rarely come prepared. Many times the crew would show up without the required materials to complete the job and without knowledge of what to even complete. It is clear communication is not a strength of this company. <br /> Issue 2) in the 7 weeks of misery I encountered: broken window balance (the window would not stay up and had to reorder from factory), multiple leaking windows (even my old windows never leaked, but Ray's near windows poured water inside the house, soaking the carpet and furniture), misaligned windows (the sashes on several of Ray's windows do not meet level with the neighboring sash, not a problem with my old windows), windows that are difficult to lock (several of my windows you have to play around with to even get them to lock), they even had to reorder a completely new window sash because it was the wrong size. <br /> Issue 3) Another challenge I had with Ray's crew was the "extras" that they kept adding after the estimate. Ray came by and meticulously measured everything and we were very clear about replacing window sills and Ray talked about the exterior being put back together and looking great, all built into the price. Of course things can change afterward but the hundreds of dollars in extra charges Ray would add to my bill did not add up. For example, Ray's crew primarily reused my old trim to frame the windows. In a few spots new trim was required so the crew purchased a few pieces of trim which costs little at Home Depot. Ray would then mark up the price and charge me hundreds of dollars for a few pieces of trim. When I asked Ray to share the receipts of this trim Ray refused to offer that. It seemed very odd. I mean it costs what it costs, I'm fine with paying for something I get but not for something that does not exist. When you look at the exterior and shoddy work with the old broken trim you would understand why I am perplexed. <br /> Feel free to reach out to me if you have specific questions. I have lots of pictures and video I took of the leaking windows and poor exterior work that was done. If I can save even one person from going through this h*** it would help to lessen my pain just a bit. Please look elsewhere for your new windows. <br /> <br /> <br />
Response from Clear Choice USA of Austin
"In response to comments by Mr. [member name removed], it was stated that the project would take two days to complete with the majority of the work done on the outside during the last of the second day. This was prior to the customer deciding that they would prefer using windows that required additional work in cutting open the window opening and making the windows taller to meet the building code instead of using windows that would provide a larger escape area with their operation. The modification added time to the project. During the enlargement process we encountered electrical wiring that had to be rerouted requiring the services of an electrician. This wiring issue, which could not be anticipated, also required the services of a drywall subcontractor to patch the openings that were required in rerouting of the electrical wiring. Both of these measures added to the time required to do the job. We started the project on the date specified by the customer at a time when he would be off from work. The extended time included working on a Saturday when he would be off. Two days after finishing the installation it rained and a leak developed at one of the windows. As soon as the weather cleared and we were able to investigate the source of the intrusion, it was discovered that a seal had opened up at one of the corners. In order to insure that there would be no further incidents, we removed the exterior trim and replaced it with all new flashing, new wood trim and resealed it with silicone. A water test revealed that the fix was successful. It disturbs me that we were not able to make this installation less problematic and quicker to complete for the customer. I have offered to the homeowner that we would come back at their convenience, in the evening and/or weekend, to deal with any other issue or details that need attention. I am committed to finishing all projects to the satisfaction of the homeowner and in 99% of the time we are able to achieve that objective. Having served more than a thousand customers, our track record speaks for itself. Clear Choice Exteriors (Austin)"

They do exceptional window work. We had them install all windows in our house and they are extremely good. They are not a big company but they are the most professional I had and I was very satisfied their double pane inert gas windows. They open up so I can wash them the inside. They are a good company and I was very pleased with them.  I intend to use them again in our new house.

<p>He spent time with me explaining everything. To top it all off he didn't charge me for his time!  What a refreshing change from most contractors.  I will definitely call him back if I have any further problems or when I need a new roof. I would definitely recommend Clear Choice to anyone.</p> <br />

I'm not real pleased with them. I kind of given up on them. It has been an ongoing problem for a long time and it's been difficult aligning a time for them to come and visit. The last time I finally got something lined up I had to cancel. I gave up them. I am just going to have to live with the doors that they gave me. <br /> I know that the new doors are more secure than the ones I had before and security was an issue for me. The doors don't really work right. You have to pull pretty hard to get it to open. You should just turn the knob and have it swing open but you don't, you have to give it a jerk to get it off of that sweep, or at least where the sweep is contacting the threshold of the door. <br /> I was trying to buy really good door. I bought a storm door for the front and these French doors for the back. The storm door for the front didn't really sit right. It had a 4 inch gap between it and the threshold and he had to go and find something to fill it but it doesn't seal in anyway at the bottom so it isn't much of a storm door. It has a special glass in it that is very hard to break and it has keys to it but I don't have the keys to it and I don't know how to go about getting keys for it. I have been able to use it for security. Right now it is more of a nusence because when you go in and out, it springs closed faster than you want it to and it ends up hitting your ankles. They either installed a poor process for a lot of money or charged me too much to install. <br /> The owner is a really nice guy. He comes across town and through traffic. He tried to be very helpful. The guy that works for him installing which seemed to be a really thorough type. I got to the point that they had come out so many times for so many different things. I would call and leave messages and they wouldn't get back to me promptly. I really complained to me and told them that I was tired of waiting on them and they started paying more attention to me like they were really going to make things right. It has just been complicated and I don't want to take time off of work to do something like that. <br /> Update: 9/20/2014 <br /> Ray, the owner, came out and made everything right. The product he sells does not have very good service, but Ray stayed on yhem and finally got the replacement parts that made everything work.

The work was performed in December 2012. The City of Austin came out and inspected the windows in March 2013 and found that a window in each bedroom in the house did not meet code in terms of the egress requirements. Essentially, a window in each bedroom had to be a casement window rather than a hung window. Clear Choice talked to the City inspection staff in April 2013 to try to allow them to grandfather our windows to be compliant with City code. The City refused to allow any grandfathering. Clear Choice came back and told us we would have to pay for the casement windows in order to be compliant with City code. They were fairly unresponsive for the better part of 2013, but the situation did finally get resolved in Spring 2014. They swapped out the hung windows for casement windows without any additional charges.

Rabun was on time with quote. Very kind and curtious. Ordered three windows. One was ordered incorrectly but Dianne was in contact to get it resolved quickly. Installed the first two and installed the third a few weeks later. Crew was nice, quick and cleaned up when done. We can really tell a difference from the old metal windows. Will call again when we're ready to replace others. <br />

Efren and his crew had to literally smash some of the old windows out of the seventies era condo with hammers. The old single pane windows had been glued and caulked in several times over the past decades. It was an ugly job and made us very thankful that we had hired a crew of professionals for this project. Every tech on the crew was courteous and respectful towards the property and explaining any questions that we had about the process. The entire job was done in under one day. This was a total of six windows in a two bedroom condo. They even left a small container of touch up paint for the outside frame color in case of a scratch down the road. They cleaned everything up and no mess was left behind. <br />

It was wonderful. We love their service. They knew the process and helped me with a previous permit that was on a home that we purchased. Ray helped me through the whole situation so he was able to provide the service needed. He was very honest, has integrity,  and does good work. They are are very trustworthy as well.

<p>My biggest issue with the company was the sales. After getting another bid, I realized that I got very little information about the windows. I went back and asked and got answers that later (after I had hired them) were wrong. I thought I was getting a better quality window than I got. The salesperson gave me the wrong specs for the windows. I went with this company because the salesperson also told me the windows could be installed in early January. That was also incorrect. All in all, I would have chosen another company to do the work if </p> I had been told the truth. I guess in the company's mind, this is a successful salesperson as it got them the sale. I should have asked more questions and I would recommend to anyone that is getting a quote, to ask a lot of questions and get everything in writing. <br /> I don't have any complaints about the installation although a window that was being cut to a bigger size did take longer than anticipated. As a note, the contrator hired to install the doors did an excellent job. <br />

This company was top notch.  The salesperson made a timely appointment and thoroughly educated me on their windows.  Even though I got estimates from other companies I felt more at ease with Clear Choice Windows.  Their estimate was fair and very accurate...no hidden costs, I knew everything up front.  Their crew was respectful of my property; getting out the old aluminum windows was quite a challenge, which they met right down to the motaring.  I plan on building a home in the future and will definitely use Clear Choice Windows.  These windows look great!!!
