They were very friendly but the work was bad. One year later and we have water gushing out of the middle of the yard because the new PVC drain pipe got clogged and even more water started entering the basement through the bottom of the window well also possibly due to the badly installed drain pipe running along beside it and water pooling nearby. They laid mulch and it was covered with weeds only a couple of weeks later.

Mike came out on a Saturday morning to discuss our needs and review options. He provided ideas and found images of possible plant products to show us. Mike stayed out in the rain to measure and calculate the amount of mulch and rocks needed to meet our needs. He provided a written estimate prior to leaving. Mike was clear about the time frame when he would be able to begin the work and contacted us within the estimated window to establish a start date. Mike and his crew showed up when scheduled and worked over portions of two days to transform the select sections of our landscaping into something we are proud of. Neighbors have stopped by to comment on how nice the project turned out! The personalized service provided by Mike and Colonial Landscaping was outstanding. We plan to use their services going forward for maintenance and enhancement of our landscaping.

It looks amazing and we now have twice the space in our yard to play in. They worked quickly and had great communication. When we're ready to do more work to our property I will absolutely call Mike, and only Mike. He's an honest and funny guy, and is very knowledgeable about what will give us the best results. And because we were willing to wait until business was slower for him, he gave us a great deal!

It went very well. They took one day to till and level. The next day they installed the sod. Our yard looks beautiful!

Mike was awesome from the start. He showed up on time to discuss the work we needed for both the front and back yard. During this visit, he drew up a new design for the front yard and provided a written estimate for all work. My husband and I decided to go with work only for the front yard to save a bit of money right now, but overall we did feel that Mike's estimate was a fair price. We would hire him again to do the work for the back yard - no question. <br /> As noted above, Mike and his crew completely overhauled our front yard, fixing drainage and grading issues that we had had for years, but were exacerbated by a recent large tree removal earlier this year. Mike needed to bring in a stump remover for more than half a day to complete the work that the tree removal service left behind - no extra charge. <br /> After two days, we had a brand new front yard, complete with fresh new sod and new landscaping. It looks great! We are so pleased with the work. The crew cleaned up after themselves, and Mike has been available to answer any follow-on questions we've had since then, about care, etc. <br /> Highly recommended. <br />

Everything was done to specification and done in a reasonable amount of time.  My yard looks great and will definitely use Mike in the future. <br />

All work was done well and as promised. <br /> Also, unsuccessful plants from the prior year were replaced at no charge. <br /> Mike, the owner, works onsite along with a small crew of usually 4 or 5 others.  He has a great memory and offers good advice. Equally important, he acknowledges when he doesn't know something rather than pretend he does. <br /> Since his crew is particularly busy in spring & early summer, one needs to be flexible on scheduling. <br />

Mike and his crew came out and did a great job with my yard. My house is getting ready to sell and I needed someone to do a cleanup and some mulching work in the around the entire house that I did not have time to do. They came out when agreed and completed the work in a very timely manner. Mike was very pleasant to work with and his crew was pleasant as well. <br /> Definitely recommend. <br />

This is probably our third project with Mike.  The first one was the most extensive about 5 years ago (he leveled our yard for a playset, put in new sod, dug out tons of overgrown weeds and old dying bushes, put in a new walkway, planted new bushes, and and made a new planting bed), the second project was smaller in scope, and now this project.  We've been very happy with his work and we like working with him as well. He always seems to give a fair estimate, explains the work, gives options for different plants, and makes an effort to work with us on timing the project.  He's a very "tell it like it is" type of guy and he's not pushy.  We didn't get other estimates for the work, since we've worked with Mike and trust that he's honest and if something doesn't workout he'll come back to get it right. <br />

This was a crazy sort of situation. My neighbor plugged up a drainage system that was in place but sitting on his side of the property line. Because of this, water started backing up in his yard and he called the county on me. I called Mike and he came out to give an estimate of what it would take to remedy the situation. Originally it was going to be an open drain system (with an estimate of $850) until the county rejected that plan. It took awhile to get a hold of Mike with the new changes, and he came out to get new measurements, but I did not get a new estimate at that time. <br /> Mike and his crew came out promptly on the 28th and by the time I got home to be around and available if any questions came up, they had the whole ditch dug and were discussing how to lay the pipe. I was able to answer all the questions posed to me, and they were done by 2pm. I was a little surprised at the final cost, until Mike explained to me the line items that made up the cost. <br /> I'm giving Colonial a B because there was still debris left in my yard when they were done, it took almost two weeks to get a response to the changes and I didn't receive a new estimate before the work began. I really appreciated Mike being honest with me every step of the way, and I actually prefer to have a little rough personality heading up my work, it means that if we are on the same page, he'll make sure it's done and done right, but that also means that it's not the "A" level professionalism that most people are looking for. <br />

Mike and his crew were extremely efficient and professional. His payment schedule is also very relaxed and he works with you to figure out a payment plan. We appreciated how understanding he was in this regard. We will definitely use him again! <br />

The work was performed punctually and as described.  They left some of the concrete footers in place, as it would have been "out of scope" to remove them and create larger holes/restoration costs. <br /> Overall, it was a great job.  I just wish I didn't have such a challenging yard. <br />

The work was done well and quickly. They are responsive. I was expecting a little more for the money, but they did a nice job. Price seemed reasonable.

We liked them a lot.  They were easy to work with, flexible, and they knew what they were doing.  We would highly recommend them.

He was very responsive about providing the estimate and performing the work.  Didn't leave enough mulch to cover the yard where he worked and didn't take into consideration that rain would wash most of the covering away.  The plants were good.  He provided estimates for replacing a fence but he never showed up to perform this work after several phone calls.  He worked within my  budget.   <br /> My lower scores are for the work (fencing) that he said he would do and did not return to do.  Minus that, I would give higher scores. <br />

Mike showed up on time for the initial appointment, and demonstrated that he understood landscaping and made good recommendations. <br /> I was very flexible on start date, but he started within a few days of expectations and finished early.  It is clear to me based on the work he did that I can trust him to do the work right and quickly. <br /> I highly recommend Mike and his crew. <br />
