I have been a customer of Colony One Auto Repair for nearly 30 years. I have only received auto services that exceeded my expectation. I trust no one else to maintain my vehicles. Fair prices, diagnosis and repair along with a business that I can ask my non-mechanically inclined wife to take her vehicle to for service and be assured that the work performed was indicated and done correctly.

I've been taking my vehicles to Colony One Auto Center for years now and I've always received the best service for a great price. I trust them so much that I prefer using them over the dealership, and the price is so much better! They're always very honest and even educational so I know I'm making the right decision. 100% recommend them and will always be back!

A minor repair needed to be done before my auto would pass inspection. I was quoted a price. When I picked up my auto later, I paid a lot less than what the estimate had been. :-)

Any time I take my vehicle to get serviced I'm very clear about being called before any work (other than the work I have agreed on doing) is done. I asked that while the car was inside if they could take a look a the wiper liquid fluid. I asked to please do not perform any work unless they called me first (except for the oil change) I did not want additional expenses. I left the car about 8:20am and was told I would get a call when it was ready. I called a little after noon to see if the car was ready, so I could arrange a ride. Tonny was the person I needed to talk to, the front desk said he would call me back. I never received a call. I called back at around 3pm which at this time Tonny said what my total was, adding a fee for checking the wiper fluid container. I asked why nobody told me there would be a charge for this and he sarcastically told me there is a notice in front of the store and there is a fee for them taking out a part and checking. I told him I would have really appreciated a call or the front person to have told me there was a fee. 1st, I did not see that one posting in between all the different things they have posted on the walls. 2nd, how was I supposed to know they have to pull out a part to be able an check this part? I didn't appreciate his attitude towards me not knowing this. I'm not sarcastic to the people that ask questions about my job. If I would have know obviously I would not have asked for their help. Even though I'm on a stressful financial situation, if I have to pay; I have to pay. Not only did he act like it is totally my fault for not knowing this but, he said he would call when they finished with the car. Never received a call. I was told to take my car here because their service but was completely thrown aback by their lack of communication and rude attitude.

"[Member Name Removed], I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with us recently. It is my understanding that we were having a hard time getting in touch with you over the phone. The issue that you were having with your washer fluid leaking was a bit more involved that you might expect. We never do any repairs without a customers approval first. What happened in your case is that we had to completely remove your washer bottle and pump assembly in order to find the issue. Rather than charge you for the labor involved in that, we just charged you for a mechanical checkout, which is about half of what the repair would have been. In the service industry time is money and we have to charge to diagnose problems even when people opt not to fix them. If we give away our resources (knowledge and time) we wouldn't be able to stay in business. Sincerely, Rod Tate owner"

I took my Buick down there. I had it towed down there and had the wrecker drop it off towards the evening. They are real busy, busy people and get good write-ups. I'm not sure if they did the full deal to what I really wanted. The reason I am saying that is I knew I had a shift problem and I had a feeling they were going to come back with what they came back with. They came back with it pretty fast, but they acted as if they looked at it, but I don't think they really did, but maybe put it on the rack because they had a hard time driving it in because it doesn't go in drive, it goes in all the other gears but drive. But I have a feeling when they called me up the next day. I wasn't personally there to watch it, that's the bad news too. They told me I needed a new transmission right away. They said they we wouldn't recommend a rebuild because you have a lot of issues you could have with a rebuild, which I understand. The car is a 2005, but it only has 112,000 miles on it. I took a lot of care with it. They came to a conclusion pretty fast because I thought they was gonna do a transmission scan. I paid for their diagnostics. It wasn't really expensive, I think it was about a hundred dollars or under a hundred. I had to have the tow truck take it there and pick it up so it cost me two trips from my membership and that's why I haven't taken it back into somebody. I have to get somebody to maybe come look at it. I am not sure what I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm just kind of reluctant. Since I wasn't there when they did it I can't say that they were bad but I kind of feel they came to the conclusion faster than I would have thought. They told me the next morning I needed a new transmission. They must do good work because they had a ton of people with cars there. They get I, guess good write-ups. It was about that close to where I live and not a convenient to me. I didn't want to take it to a dealer; it was further. I couldn't be there to see them either. They are busy. They are pricey on things because looking at their price list they are not cheap people. I don't even know if they pulled the car in, see that's what's bad. I guess if I would have been able to take the day off the next day and go there and virtually watch and see if they put the car on the lift and virtually walk out there to see if they went through. Even though they took a checklist and said such and such, you don't know. It takes a while to get your car in and get your car in and get it looked at. I had to really make an appointment to get it to where I could take it and have it dropped off and then they would look at it when they got to it the next day. I wouldn't use them again; I've got other people I've used.

My customer experience with Colony One Auto was not the best. My car's air-conditioning effectiveness had gradually declined over the years. Even though the AC was blowing cool air, it was not as cold like it used to be. Colony One Auto recommended getting the condenser replaced but I did not get it done because the price quoted at $718 for my 2003 Toyota Corolla was too high for my budget. The shop manager told me that he will put the freon back and I will continue to have the leak that the system has. I was fine with that. When I picked up my car, I was charged for the AC check-up, the dye-test, and supplies for a total of $70. After picking up my car I found that it was blowing hot air unlike the little amount of cooling it did before I took it in to the shop. I felt disappointed that Colony One Auto pulled a fast one like many other auto shops do where they mess it up more on purpose in the car to make you go back for the repair because now the vehicle may be performing worse than when you took into the shop the first time. I said so in an email to the shop. I received a call back from them very soon saying that the technician made a mistake and did not put the freon back into the AC system. They offered to put the freon back, which I took to get the AC to work back to as normally as it could. In between these events, the operations manager was aggressive in giving grandiose speeches about how hard his shop works to be honest with ALL of his customers. I heard him out but my experience leaves me with two possibilities that actually occurred. The first one is that the technician genuinely made the mistake, which however no one in the shop oversaw to correct it before the final product went out to the customer. The other possibility is that they did it on purpose and on being caught, they wanted to cover their misdeeds with the grandiose speech and offering to put the freon back. I want to believe that they made a mistake but my instincts tell me to believe the latter. So my advice to other customers is not be taken in simply by Colony One Auto's boast about being honest, but beware that they do make mistakes resulting in a bad repair, or worse they may give you bait-and-switch type of experience which can leave you feeling like you were cheated out of your money. In my opinion they are no better than many other auto shops. Good luck.

"[Member Name Removed], As you know, we did not fill the freon back up, nor did we charge you for it, because the leak was bad enough that it would be a waste of money. When you did come back, after our call to you about your e-mail, we filled up your system at no charge to you due to the misunderstanding. That you find it necessary to post so many negative reviews about this incident, after we attempted to give you the benefit of the doubt, is a good indicator that you must not be in the service industry. I was told what needed to be fixed. I asked for something related to that repair to be done, but I was told that they normally didn't do that. I was given an estimate on total repair cost. As the repairs would take a few hours, I was given a complimentary ride home. I was also given a complimentary ride back to pick up my auto when the work was completed. The bill was only half of the estimate. I questioned why this was so and wanted to make sure that all the work had been done. I was given a satisfactory explanation and was pleased to pay less than the estimate. Later, I found out that the related repair that I had asked about had also been done, and still this was all done with the cost being less than half of the original estimate.

Perfectly. No fuss, no hassle. My batteries were covered and replaced under warranty and I was in and out in a very reasonable time. Every experience with this provider for about twenty years has been positive in all aspects. There are a lot of car care centers that are much closer to our house but we are happy to drive the extra distance to know we will receive high quality honest service.
