Dealing with Colorado’s Finest Landscapes was the worst experience we have ever had with any contractor. After taking our initial deposit, we did not hear from them for over five weeks. We called several times and were told a start date, only to have them not show. The crew ended up showing up at our house with no notice to start the project on a snowy Friday and we had to scramble to try and move our car parked in front of the house, as we were at work and not expecting the project to start that day, since we had no communication. The crew then left the demolished concrete slabs stacked in the street the entire weekend. We received a visit from the Jefferson County Police due to safety concerns on how the slabs were stacked and left in the street. We had hired Colorado’s Finest Landscapes to do a new driveway and replace our retaining wall. Once the concrete was finished, we were told the retaining wall would begin in two weeks. Halfway through the second week, we had to call the owner, as nobody had shown up to do the work and we were wondering when we should expect the crew. We also asked if the crew could look at cracking at the base of the steps that had occurred. The owner proceeded to go off on us, using several expletives, telling us to “put some f***ing water on the concrete” and it is “f***ing concrete, what do you expect?” He does not “f***ing work like that” and pulled out of any further work. Apparently, we asked too much of the company for asking for a timeframe for the company to show up, expecting our concrete not to crack a week after it was poured and asking for communication, even if it was only by text messaging. I would not recommend this company to anyone and am very disheartened and frustrated by the entire experience we had with Colorado’s Finest Hardscapes.

Very well. Although the price was high, the result is outstanding. The only issue we had was lack of communication between the crew and the person who negotiated the contract. Crews were very polite, efficient and professional.

The crew who did the actual work were very professional and responsive. Overall, we are happy with the end result. However, communication with company management to get the job scheduled and finished was difficult. They often didn't call back when they said they would, and we would have to leave additional messages to remind them to call us. In addition, we still don't have a written warranty for the work performed even though we have requested this and been promised a copy several times.

Josh quoted us for a very large stamped concrete patio and when we changed our minds a few days later and wanted to add a concrete planter he did not add any additional cost to our original quote. We also had to redo our gas line and his crew dug a trench at no additional cost. His crew was punctual and professional and Josh treated his crew with respect.

Terrible.....really really terrible.....!!...Do not hire this company.....ever.... - Patio has boot prints in the sealant around the steps.... - Along with the boot prints it looks like sealant was tossed around the steps....it looks a mess.... - The steps were done sloppily and the edges are ragged... - The poured concrete is showing cracks....and has since the work was first done.... - Lumps of concrete were left all over my home....this eventually after a lot of hassle was fixed - it is all that was fixed... - Concrete dust has stained all the molding on the windows and patio door....(the paint job and the windows were all new) - No effort was made to protect my home... - The owner Josh Malouf was contacted and when I complained about the boot prints, steps and general mess he got angry and did not want to discuss with me....he eventually sent his foreman Edgar to fix the mess....per his foreman the only way they could have fixed this was to tear out the cement and steps and start over.....!!....I would not let this company touch another thing on my property..... Finally got Josh Malouf to look at the work and he agreed it was bad.....he offered to aerate my lawn since he was in that business too....I declined....what a joke.....

It's a nightmare ! From the very beginning we should have known when they never showed up when they said they would that we should've moved onto the next contractor . But they assured us that they were just busy that week and would be there so we hired them because they said they would get it done by June 1 . My daughter's wedding is July 16 so we figured that gave us a little bit of grace. In case they were running behind which of course they were . We totally understood that with the bad weather that they would be delays but as of today we have a stamped concrete patio that is poured so shoddily that it's already cracking and looks terrible . They never did finish the sprinkler system, they moved the valve and didn't re-connect it to the system so we haven't had a working sprinkler system all summer . They postponed and change the dates on the job so many times and never showed up when they said they would . When we decided not to use them for the backyard since we were having such bad luck on the front yard Josh got completely angry and yelled like a crazy person aty husband. He's actually a little scary! They left a huge mess in May when they poured the concrete and kept telling us they be back out to clean it up but have yet to show up and do that . We are now scrubbing concrete off of our brick in the side of our house with a wire brush because our company is coming for the wedding tomorrow . We had to hire someone else to do the planter because they did such a poor job so for $11,000 we have a cracking stamped concrete patio a mess in our front yard and a sprinkler system that doesn't work! We have been very patient and tried to work w them but josh won't even come look at the cracking patio or take responsibility for his terrible work or behavior. they are a disgrace to the industry!

Did not call on the promised, to set up work schedule. Work was supposed to take one day to complete, but it actually took three. I was not at home when the project was completed, but the worked looked like it was done right. While one of the workers was finishing up the work, I turned on the sprinklers to check their application to the newly installed plants. One plant did not receive water, and is now about dead. The worker called the boss and told him my concerns. The worker informed me the boss would be by that evening with his sprinkler person. I made the mistake of paying the worker and I have not heard back from this company. I called the boss's cell phone but received a mailbox full answer, so I call the main office and spoke to the secretary. She said she would be sure Josh got my message regarding my concerns. Because the company has a A rating by the BBB, I was really disappointed in the way this matter was handled.
For the lastest work I needed to have our soffits replaced. Craig and Isaac came by the day I called them to give me an estimate. Once I reviewed the estimate and gave them the go ahead, he told me when they would start and how long it would take. They were able to perform the job expertly in 1 1/2 days.
Estimator was CF Landscaping. The actual contractor was a concrete subcontractor that was not familiar with the site when he showed up to start work. The subcontractor arrived promptly at 6:30 am to start work with a 6 man crew. The work was completed by 8 pm the same day.
The Good: Crew was prompt, work was done in one day and the finished work looked fair to good after garden grew back from damaged conditions. Having the hole in the back yard filled in was a big relief as it was a safety issue. Price was fair.

The Problems: 1.) Poor communication between the estimator and the subcontractor. When I discussed the project with the estimator aI requested that existing landscaping be protected and that the hole in the back yard be filled with clean fill. I requested that all foundation materials be compacted and prepared for placement of concrete. This information was never communicated to the subcontractor. 2.) Damaged landscape-His men walked all over our flower beds, a 6-ft wide Bobcat backhoe w/ concrete breaker was brought into the back yard and required removing a concrete block wall and the back yard gate. The Bobcat backhoe equipment ran the over the irrigation valve box, that on initial inspection looked ok, but within two months the plastic valve piping had to replaced because of leaks through hairline cracks. 3.) The patterned and colored concrete- The foreman was very experienced with installation of patterned concrete however, the crew was not so experienced in the installation of patterns on the finished surface of the concrete slab. Pattern lines were poorly placed making the job look shabby. Once the patterned concrete was installed it is almost impossible to replace without a complete redo. This puts the owner into a difficult position of having to accept a shoddy job. 4.) Site was cleaned up but residue from leaks of hydraulic fluid from the Bobcat excavator on sidewalks and street had to be removed later by owner.
I think this job was completed too fast given that the crew was so inexperienced.

This was part 2 of our outside re-do. CF had already done a great job on the concrete repair and addition. Our original agreement was that if we accepted his proposal in May, the work would be completed by June 1st with half the complete payment up front and half upon accepted completion. There was a period of heavy rain which, understandably, delayed the work. Concrete was completed May 21st (see a separate report on that part), however, the landscaping was completed July 2nd. When the work began on the yard, Josh asked for $6,000 to begin the work. The team came out on June 15th to scrape the yard then completed the landscaping and irrigation the following week. The work was exactly as we expected and we are very pleased with the result.
Pros: Stayed true to budget and the outcome is excellent.
Cons: Needed payment other than agreed terms and was a month late in completing the job.

Overall, we are very happy with our yard and have received many compliments. We definitely would go with Josh Malouf again. The completion date was a little off but, in our opinion, it didn't detract from the overall satisfaction. Josh was always very prompt and responsive to our calls. His team was very polite, except that one person made flirting remarks to my daughter as she took out the trash.

7/7/11 - CF also will replace any plants which fail to thrive within the first growing season. We have noticed a couple plants which didn't seem to be adjusting as well and Josh sent someone out right away to correct an irrigation issue and will monitor to see if the plants take root or need to be replaced.

10/31/11 - CF never responded after 7/7/11 and did not replace plants which failed to thrive. There was a tree which had been planted still bound in it's burlap sack so died, there were a few shrubs which died because the irrigation system hadn't been properly connected.

Ultimately, I would recommend this company for hardscape work ONLY - not for landscape.

His team came out and prepared our walk area and driveway for concrete. It began to rain during their work and rained for a few days later. They poured on the first dry day. We're very pleased with the result. We have been trying to get our entire yard and concrete done for two years. There have been several businesses who never follow up at all, a few who came out but only CF Landscape came out, prepared a bid within a week then began work within two weeks at competitive prices.
