This was our first remodelling project on our new home, and I feel like we could not have asked for a better experience. Erik was very quick to respond and was a great communicator during the entire process. Once they began, they progressed very quickly through the job and did quality work. The price for the work was very fair. They have great attention to detail, and we were very pleased how all the tile work came out. We love our new bathroom and kitchen. Would definitely hire again. Thank you!

Columbia Crest was a very easy contractor to work with. Their work was first rate and of excellent quality. They finished the project ahead of schedule and were very quick to respond to any and all requests. The cost was very reasonable and their workmanship of the finest quality. I would definitely hire them again and strongly recommend them to anyone.

Great job. I'm very happy with the work these guys did. They were easy to work with, answered all my questions, did quality work and when a couple of minor issues arose, they went out of their way to make it right and to make me happy. The job, did, take a good bit longer than what I was told it would take, but it did not cause a problem for me, and they always kept me informed and showed up when they said they would. They also put up with my excessive bird talk :) I love my new window! I cannot fully rate the work done on the door, yet, as the cold winter months have not arrived, but there was one cold snap, recently, that I could determine good improvement. I plan to remodel the rest of my kitchen, within the year, and Columbia Crest is who I want to do the job.

I wanted to change out the sliding glass door on what used to be the front our garage to a large window. Erik and his crew removed the existing door and started demo on the outside hardee board siding and the inside drywall. They reframed the wall to support a large 9x5 window. Once the window was installed they added osb and housewrap to the outside and finished re siding the exterior wall. They also replaced the drywall on the interior wall. To finish the job they jackhammered what was left of the concrete ramp coming into what used to be the garage to make it look more like it was just another room in the house. I wanted to save money and do some of the work myself so I did all of the painting and added the window trim. Everything was done as agreed upon in a timely manner.

Mr. Brown and his carpenters removed and replaced several areas of wood rot. The job required some masonry work which was done well. The replacement wood was good quality and they were able to replace the board on the front of the house so that the replacement wood was unified to the parts. Mr. Brown was prompt in responding to any questions or concerns. The team left the work area clean and were courteous and on time.

Erik and his crew were extremely considerate of our wants and needs for this project. He is an excellent listener and engaged us in decision making. It was very refreshing to see how excited he was about the overall design of the new bathroom. Our original home construction 20 years ago had left us with a bit of distrust in builders but Erik has restored our faith in this industry. His workers were very conscious of keeping our home as neat as possible. He had a cleaning crew come in at the end to get us back to our routine. We will definitely use Erik & Columbia Crest again!
The job was done fairly well in total. He was unable to completer the job according to the plans due to a major measuring gaff which required him to take part of my existing master bedroom and ended up with an unven hallway connection to main house that was approx. 10 inches off. He also does not know how to plaster, just uses drywall. He did not finish the joint between walls and floor. His roofing subcontractor did an excellent job as did the plumbing, electric and tree tree mitigation (arborist). Lastly he did not acquire a porta potty or his subcontractors, crew or his use. Never contacted me after he left job or sent a final message.

Couldn't have gone better. Erik took care of everything. Even met with the homeowners association to explain the process. The best most professional experience I've had to date from a service provider

After the wet and rotting OSB was replaced with exterior plywood, a first coat of rubberized compound was applied. It turned out to be a little thin, creating a puddling problem. Eric Brown of Columbia Crest agreed that a second coat to correct the problem was called for before finishing.
He met his quote which I really liked. He stuck to the estimate which I couldn't argue with. I would have him back in a heart beat. I also felt comfortable leaving the house while he was there.

We feel the contractor did not properly disclose the areas where he lacked experience and did not properly disclose his prices, especially towards the end of the project. He has not fulfilled his warranty obligations to make sure everything is finished properly. We are having to finish up the inspections on the project and fix problems.
He did give us a fairly detailed contract that we generally followed, though modifications to it later seemed to pose a lot of problems. His references and licensing appeared to check out ok.
He started out strong on the project with the framing and foundation. He and his assistant seemed to work well together, though some problems came up later in inspection (forgot to install foundation vents and soffitt vents and ignored termite preparation, for example). But overall, we were pleased with the work at that point. He was easy to reach and accommodating.
The drywall and windows went in nicely and he even spent extra time trimming out the windows for us.
However, as the initial phase passed, we found he was not as organized as you would expect from a contractor. At one point, he disappeared for a week to work on another project without telling us. He was slow in ordering items, or getting his subcontractors to work on our project. He then seemed annoyed that the project was dragging.
At one point, he also suggested we could save money by ordering our own items, which we did, but then he said he was not responsible for the installation of those items, even though we had been upfront with him about what we were doing.
But the real problems began with the finishing work. He had to move our medicine cabinets three times after drywall was up because he had not installed them in the correct place. This was odd because we had drawings to scale from a residential designer and the medicine cabinets had been at the property for months. Otherwise, much of the problems revolved around the bathroom finishing work, with confusion over how to lay the tile, the medicine cabinets, the vanity cabinets, granite countertop, problems with the tub not being level, orange peel drywall finishing, etc. He also had apparently never done pocket doors, so got them about 75% right, but without some trim and some proper fittings. However, he refused to come fix them when we presented what needed to be done (with photos to support our contention). At this point in the project, we felt we needed to investigate most items because they may or may not have been done correctly.
At the very end, we asked for a quote about doing the closet shelving and we were told about $600ish, but it ended up being $1200 - we feel a significant cost overrun that was not disclosed to us.
He missed his finishing deadline, but refused to deduct any cost for missing the deadline.
He also used duct tape on our hardwood flooring in the existing part of the house, damaging it beyond repair.
Don't use his references either, most of them are unprofessional, though his subcontractors were ok.
To sum up, our experience with Erik ended with him saying when we asked him to address some lacking items, "The contact was what it was, and now it is something different." And we haven't heard from him again, which makes our warranty most likely worthless.
