UPDATE: Now Tom(manager) is calling me and saying to wait for a call from his lawer because i posted review. Google maps already has similar review that the company doesnt want to repair and just trying to sell you replacement. Probably he was sueing another customer as well. Here is my awful experience of working with Comfort Air Heating and Cooling Inc in Wonder Lake, IL. They are located at 4006 E Wonder Lake Rd, Wonder Lake, IL 60097 with phone number (815) 459-2700. The manager name is Tom and contractor Sean Davies who was working on my parents' conditioner. I hope my review will help other customers avoid this company and mistakes me and my old parents made calling them. First of all I have to mention that my parents are retired seniors and have 0$ income(no pension as well) and live in 80 years old tiny house in Wonder Lake IL barely meeting their ends on small budget consisted of personal savings. Last week (July 19 2017) their 30 year old Sears central conditioner stopped working. Outside temperature was hitting 92 degrees. It was hot. The conditioner was not completely "dead" but definitely something was wrong in it. My father is a mechanic but has ZERO knowledge in conditioners still decided to open box and take a look. It was pretty obvious that condenser motor stopped working and conditioner was stopping itself protecting from overheating or whatever. My parents asked me to call that company to get help. I called and when I mentioned that conditioner probably 30 years old they found available contractor right away (Sean Davies) to come in 5 minutes because it smelled like they could sell entire new conditioner system. Not even saying my parents live just 2 block from company's office the guy arrived immediately. He came to the opened conditioner with detached condenser motor. He cut motor wires, hold the motor and said there was no label or serial number on it and he would not be able to find a replacement. Then he said my parents need a new conditioner and that it is impossible to find motor and parts for parents' one and suggested to buy one from him for 2 900$. When my parents got upset he asked to pay him 99$ for "service" and left. The same day I went online and found out that there were hundreds of condenser motors for all possible conditioners. All of them were the same standard size, with the same shaft size and would fit any modern or old condenser. Also my father sent me picture of old motor and there were actually all details on it to get a replacement - frequency, amp, RPM. If Sean Davies was an "expert" in conditioners he would knew for sure that any motor from his office (probably they have them in stock cause they break a lot) would fit and repair my parent conditioner. He definitely was running after bigger contract and didn't do a **** thing. I ordered on Amazon condenser motor A.O. Smith ORM5458 1/3-1/6 HP, 1075 RPM, 208-230 volts, 2 Amps with new capacitor for 72$. It arrived next day and my father just installed it instead of old motor and everything started working like it was for the last 30 years. Sears used to be a great appliances producer and I have a strong feeling my parents conditioner will last long. The worst think working with the company was when I called and asked them why they did not do any service they said no matter happened I had to pay them because their guy spent 15 minutes on us. That was their excuse. Also they said they charged us for estimate for a brand new conditioner (2 900$). You can see in my review new and old motors, also how Sean cut wires on old motors and working conditioner after my father installed new motor. You also can see comments on Sean's receipt that he has no idea how to fix conditioner. On the second call me and my wife could reach manager of business and after talking to him on the phone for 20 minutes and receiving big load of accusation that everything was my fault he gone crazy and started loudly yelling on me till his wife (some lady) picked his phone and told me politely that he will call me back tomorrow but she forgot to hang up phone and we could clearly hear all his F... words and couple of time he yelled that my wife was c...nt. People please stay away from that company. There is another company in Wonder Lake or check McHenry IL area. Good luck. Yelp does allow to attach video and photos. Thomas Kelly came out on November 3rd and determined we needed a new furnace very helpful and professional and informative they came back out Saturday novermber 7th to replace it. his two crew members that came out to install the new furnace were very knowledgable professional. and even more they clean up afterwards. <br />

-Well he came out and was done pretty fast. I had my doubt that he did all the work that was on the deal. He came in and told me that the air conditioner unit had some problems and would not last the summer. I told him before I would replace the unit I would need a second opinion .He put all that was wrong in writing on the receipt. I called another a/c company that had good reviews on BBB. They came out and I did not tell them they were the second opinion. They were out there for quite a while and was sure they did all the work first guy should have done and did not. They  came in and said all was good no problems. After they left I called Comfort Air and told them what happened and I want my money back. About 10 min. later the owner called and I told him what happened and he said he was sorry and would have a serious talk with the service person that came to the house. He also said he would give me my money back and also pay for the second opinion. I have not seen the money yet. I have also spoke with a customer service person at Angies list. We needed to replace the furnace and AC in our new home.  We lucked out with Comfort Air.  Response time to our call for an appointment was quick.  Tom went over our options with us, advised us and explained why he was recommending certain choices, helping us to feel confident with what we were ordering.  The price he quoted was fair and reasonable.  The installers arrived the next day (on time), were pleasant, hard working, and went above and beyond what was expected of them.  All in all, a very positive experience! <br />

Made appointment for Saturday between 9:00 and 11:00 AM.  Tom Kelly called at 10 Minutes to 9:00 and arrived at 9:10.  He spent an hour checking out the furnace and answering my questions.  We just moved in and I had no knowledge of the heating system.  Tom was courteous, patient. and thorough.  We found a small issue with the humidifier starting before the blower motor and agreed to correct it when he returns for the A/C inspection later this season. <br /> Based on what I learned from Tom, it would appear that the furnace installation was done as cheaply as possible.  He gave an estimate for correcting things that were done wrong that was very reasonable. <br /> We will definitely return to Comfort Air for future work. <br />

This was the furnace service half of my annual service agreement with Comfort Air.  It includes A/C service in the spring and furnace service in the fall so this particular visit didn't cost me anything additional.  As usual, they were on time and efficiently checked out the furnace and made sure it was operating correctly for the season.  Very professional and reliable service.  I've been using Comfort Air for years and intend to continue doing so. <br />

Part was replaced in a timely manner. Adjustment and general tune-up performed. All is running smoothly now. I definitely would recommend this company and will use in future as needed. <br />

Their service was excellent. I would recommend Comfort Air without hesitation.  They use a consultative approach to educate the consumer.

I didn't have a bad experience, it was fine. They were courteous and clean.

They always do a great job and have been very honest. We have used them for years and really appreciate their service. They always clean up everything before they leave and they are very responsive when I call. The price has been completely reasonable. I am a picky customer so I wouldn't have used them all these years if they did not do a great job.

They do an excellent job with the service.

He's a good guy, they always call two days before they arrive, and then he calls again when he's on his way. He did a good job.

The project was a perfect A.

My air conditioner went out during the first week of extreme heat.  I called up Tom and he came out to my house within a day to confrim the problem.  I ended up needing a new unit.  It was ordered and installed in less than 4 days.  In the mean time he let me borrow a portable air conditioner unit so I could at least keep on bedroom at a cool temperature.

I've used them two times. The first time they replaced a motor fan and the second time they repaired the motor. It was covered by our insurance warranty and we only paid the service call. They didn't take too much time to do the repairs. They did the job fast and clean. Everything was fine.

I have a large home with 3 gas furnaces, 1 boiler, and 3 air conditioners. Tom does all the servicing and recently installed a new boiler and new air conditioner.
