Work was started, but not complete and there were issues with the completed work. Mr. DeSonia came to my house on 7/26/22 and quoted me $9,000 to complete the flooring for my entire house. I was eager to complete this project and agreed to the $9,000 and he reassured me that he would assist with moving the items in my house in order to complete the project, which was also reassuring because I am a 67-year-old woman and moving large pieces of furniture is out of my range of capabilities. He stated the project would take two days to complete, so that was enticing as well. On that same day, I gave Mr. DeSonia a $7,000 check, which he said was necessary to order supplies and covered the cost of him moving items in my house in order to complete the job. He did in fact order supplies (flooring, in-lay boarding, etc) that were necessary to perform the job, however there were issues. • On 8/26/26 Mr. DeSonia arrived to my house and completed what he could of the flooring. As mentioned earlier, he did order supplies, but at this point he realized he did not have enough flooring to complete the job due to his miscalculations. This is despite me asking if the measurements were correct as I did have a previous quote done for comparison. As a result of his miscalculations, since 8/26/22 I have unfinished areas throughout my house which include my main bathroom, laundry room and two closets. Thus, he noted he needed the last $2,000 (of the $9,000) in order to purchase the remaining flooring to complete the job. I gave him the remaining $2,000. Mr. DeSonia wrote on the check stub “paid bill in full on flooring install” and dated it “8/26/22.” At this point it was discussed that he would order the remaining flooring needed to complete the job and he was also going to order the baseboard. Mr. DeSonia originally planned to put in white baseboard, but I had originally asked for stained because that is what I have throughout my entire house. It was determined the cost of baseboard would be approximately $460 with an additional $217 charge – this is in addition to the agreed upon $9,000 quote for flooring. Project total that was discussed and agreed upon was $9,677. • On 8/28/22 I contacted Mr. DeSonia as he did not show up to my house to work on baseboard as planned. Mr. DeSonia stopped communication at this point. • On 10/5/22 I contacted Mr. DeSonia once more by text with no response nor did he call me. I have had zero contact with him since. Based on the timeline, you can clearly tell this project took much longer than two days ad initially quoted. I was not originally concerned that he required additional time to complete the job as I am an understanding person. However, after he stopped responding and/or contacting me about the job, it became quite evident he had zero intent to complete the job he signed up for and as a result I am out $9,000 on a job that was never complete. Even though the job was not finished, I have two major concerns that will cost additional money to correct. • Mr. DeSonia did not use the proper material when leveling the flooring in my bedroom bathroom and thus thought it was a wise idea to use cardboard instead. This is not appropriate. • Mr. DeSonia also made the executive decision to continue floor placement despite a rotten spot that was noted in the floorboard (I have a picture of the spot). This needed to be addressed before being covered with flooring and is again, not appropriate.
