The deal was for thatching of our yard. They used a dethatching machine
and a rake and were only at our house for less than two hours. We live
on a half acre of land, mostly grass area. They ran the dethatcher
through so fast that they hardly caught any of the dead grass and moss
that was stuck down in the new grass. You could hardly tell they dethatched anything. They didn't check in with us before they left so we didn't even have an opportunity to chat with them about the quality. They didn't check in when they arrived either. There was no communication during the visit to even know if the services were satisfactory or to tell us that they wouldn't be able to get a thorough thatching. I definitely would never use this company again.
Everything started well, Brandon came out quickly and was able to give us a quote for a months service and began within the week. Things started going downhill soon after. The quality of work decreased, weeding was not being done, which led to a staffing change by Brandon. They were supposed to come twice a month, but that only happened a couple times (likely due to understudying), we eventually ended service. I am writing this in ordered to let other people not to use this company.
I paid Complete Landcare up front with a signed contract stating they are to come to my home from April-October bi weekly and November-March once a month. I have not seen this company for 3 months. I reached out to them initially and they finally came out to my home to discuss the issue. Some issues were then resolved. Regular lawn service has not happened consistently during any of the time in which I have employed them. They stated they have had multiple personal issues. When I asked for my money back, they insisted they will come out to my home and provide the service. They promise but don't appear to do the service. I just want to be done with this company and receive a refund!

I began conversing with them, but we originally could not come up with a date that worked for both parties. About that time, some other issues came up, and I did not get to e-mail for awhile. Then, my trip to California came up. With all that was going on, I lost track of the deal I had purchased, and I performed the yard work myself before my daughter arrived. Due to a reminder from Angie’s List, I found the deal still was there, and now I can use their help trimming my hedges. I contacted the company, and they did respond. We agreed on a time for them to call me, but they never called. I have communicated by computer message, and I have left phone messages, but they have not called me or responded to my recent computer messages. Unless I am mistaken, I was charged for the $159. If so, I would like a refund for that money, and I will begin trimming the hedge with my own equipment and time. I assume their time and equipment would be much more efficient than my own, but the year is getting late.

Everything started out awesome. Brandon emailed and called my wife and I within minutes to setup a home visit with us. Brandon came out and he was very professional and understanding with our needs and he expressed to me that the job (stone pathway and retaining wall) would be completed in one week.
During the first week they had the dropped off the materials and barely started the retaining wall because one of his employees had to leave early that week which meant that they started work around 10 am and leave around 1pm.
The second week, I did not see much of Brandon and team showed up two days that week (due to other jobs on Angie's List) and completed the 90% of the wall.
The fourth week on Tuesday, Bandon called me and said that was sorry that this job is taking so long because of his other jobs on Angie's List and promised me the dirt will be there the next day around 10 am but I did not show up until Thursday morning (improper planning.) Brandon rented an excavator to move the dirt and completed the job but wrecked my grass in the front yard which I knew that would happen.
After the completion of the retaining wall, Brandon?s team (without Brandon) leveled the dirt and started the walkway. His employees started the stone pathway part of the job incorrectly. No one dug the path, gravel to level it, or sand under the stones to keep them from shifting.
His team completed about 15 feet of the walk way where the first 90 curve was supposed to start they put a square 90 and told me that would be easier to do like that. I did not see nor heard from Brandon for about two weeks. I thought that Brandon had cut out and took my deposit money. So I emailed Brandon to explain that he had until the end of the week to complete the job or I will look for someone else to finish the job. The next day, Brandon emailed me to explain that once again, that Angie's List was keeping him from the completing the job and he promised that it will be finish. In which it was one day early.
On Friday, Brandon texted me to tell me when should except his money. I told Brandon I wanted to check with my wife if everything was taking care of. There were a few things that had to be address which Brandon personally took care of quickly. After repeated texts, asking where his money was at, my wife came home and saw other things that needed to be address and he came with his wife and letter of intent for property lien. I was thrown for a loop when they gave this to me.
My wife was really upset because the front yard was left in disarray other than some grass seed and a lot of rocks left from retaining wall. She expressed how she felt and Brandon?s wife got very defensive because of this. Arguments perused. To end the argument, Brandon?s wife wrote a promise letter stating that if the front yard was not the way it was, then they would replace it (still several patches.)
At the end I was left with:
-A Tri colored grass in the back yard
- Sink Hole in the back yard
- A stone path way that is unleveled and shifted

4,8 out of 10

The two fellows were very pleasant and courteous. Arrived 10 minutes early and did a good job. Initially it was a little difficult to get on their schedule but with a little persistence it all worked out. I learned later that the scheduling was done by the wife of one of the fellows - she has a fulltime job in addition to handling the work schedule here, so it was understandable why she might not have followed up with me as quickly as I had hoped.
Purchased a Big Deal for $159 for 4 hours yard work (2 persons @ 2 hours each). Had a little trouble connecting. Brandon indicated the his foreman had just quit and he had to reschedule the first appointment. He showed up to perform the work with another individual with a battery operated hedge trimmer and only one battery. Needless to say the battery died and they started using hand tools. My wife was home and noticed. she brought out our electric hedge trimmer for them to use. She then noticed that one of them left to go to the store and returned some 45 minutes later. She then noticed them gathering the clippings by hand and she offered our electric blower. So they used it. When they were ready to leave she asked about the time the one individual was away from the site, so they stayed a little longer. Upon further inspection after they left we found that clippings were all over the boxwoods and I proceeded to take the blower, convert to vacuum and remove the clipping along the entire hedge. The blue spruce was hastily done and my wife went back on her next day off and trimmed it back with the hedge trimmer. Until now we have always had excellent results from Angie's List service providers whether it was a Big Deal purchase or someone we just selected because we needed the service.

Purchased an every other week mow, blow, weed, edge package for $100/mo. The first visit a split rail fence was damaged, and when I called to ask I heard two versions from the two owners, Brandon and Jennifer. Brandon, who does most of the on-the-ground work stated that he was not at my house for that visit but would check. With no follow-up I called back and Jennifer, his wife who coordinates the office part of their business stated that Brandon was on site and can guarantee nothing had been done by their crew. I should have realized their two faced ways then.

Their next visit and there after they would mow, but edging was not even, grass was left on patios and the driveway, and weeding only included roughing up the dirt with a rake, dislodging some weeds but leaving most and no removal of the dislodged weeds. With this method of 'weeding' it caused them to also tear up my groundcover, exposing more area for weeds to grow. Each weekend after they came my husband and I would need to spend hours edging, blowing, and weeding - a service I thought we had purchased.

When I called Jennifer to discuss the quality of work she would listen and agree it should be better, but nothing improved.

What topped everything was I have a client at work who was complaining of her yard service and how her provider had removed her strawberry groundcover and left buttercup. I asked who she used and she confirmed it was Complete Landscaping. I decided at that moment this service will not get better and canceled my service.

After I called Jennifer to cancel I received an email from Brandon: "I just heard from my wife that you have elected to no longer have lawn maintenance. This email is to confirm that effective immediately we will no longer service your property. I did notice your lawn was getting pretty dead." Hmmm, shouldn't the lawncare professionals prevent a lawn from dying? And oddly enough it has been 4 weeks since my last service and the grass is dark green and healthy as we are cutting to the correct height and weeding the dandelions out.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

The crew was punctual and they worked hard. They didn't bring a vehicle large enough to haul away all the thatch, so consequently they left behind then I would like to have seen. II had to run my riding mower and picked up 12 bags of additiona thatch. That being said, the owner was there and like I said, they worked hard. I would use them again but would recommend a more thorough job next time.
The next day after the job, I messaged them through the Angie site. I said I had to rake up the extra piles, and had to buy more overseed for the bald patches and the new bare patches left by me raking up the leftover clumps. I got a reply saying that they "should have told me NOT to rake up the clumps, but to leave them to mulch back into the ground"! So, the overseed that was on TOP of all of these clumps was going to grow grass? I would think that the seed would have to be on dirt, not dead grass; but I'm not a botanist, maybe I just don't get it. If I knew before that I would be buying more materials myself and doing work myself, I would have paid for the thatching alone, and nothing else. The Big Deal said that it was for up to one half of an acre including the materials and labor. I messaged them that since my parcel was only half that size, why should I have to pay for twice the materials and labor? I can't remember the exact reply, but I just needed to get it done and get the HOA off my case. The men were very friendly and outgoing and it was enjoyable watching them run the machine and speaking to them afterwards.I had even asked about getting some curbing stones put in, but that was before I saw the incompletion of the current job. When I signed up for the Deal, I saw that the company had a B rating. So maybe my property was just the one oddball, slapdash job out of a hundred...
I have used Angie's List for numerous services and have always been extremely pleased. Until Now. I was very disappointed in the job this company did for me. First, not only did they fail to show on the first appointment, but they did a half-hearted job when they did come! I was very gracious and understanding when I never received any type of cancellation notice, when Complete Landcare failed to show for a 27 June appointment to have the work done for my BIG DEAL, an appointment I might add, that was chosen by their company. After I wrote an email to them asking why they failed to show-up, they told me a piece of their equipment had broken and that not notifying me was unprofessional and an “unacceptable error.” As compensation for my inconvenience, they offered to reseed and fertilize my lawn, which I accepted. This Company never did either one; believe me, I looked very closely through all the thatch left behind, and found NO EVIDENCE of over-seeding or fertilizing! This brings me to the next point. I was told by Brandon that the dethatching process included not only dethatching, but that the thatch would be raked up and removed by their company. Only part of my yard was dethatched. The right side of the front yard wasn’t done at all and large sections of the rest of my yard weren’t done either. If the thatch was raked up, and I’m not truly convinced it was, it was a brief and half-hearted effort on part of the yard, and in other parts, NOT AT ALL! I tried to be positive and thought that they just hadn’t finished the job. I waited for some indication from Complete Landcare that they would be coming back out to finish the job; specifically, raking-up the thatch, over-seeding, and fertilizing. But, I haven’t received any communication at all. After a week of no contact I wrote them an email citing all of the above and to this date I have received no response. Not one word. I feel like I was robbed and totally taken advantage of because I didn't get what I was expecting and what they promised.

I chose the company because they are less than 10 miles from my home. The crew somehow still got lost trying to find it one time and did not show up. My impression of the company is that it is small, just getting started. The owner, and his wife (who appears to help out as a second job) were very nice, but not at all organized. It was very difficult to get a date set up for service, and there were two or three dates set up that fell through. Once due to an employee's injury, others because of poor record-keeping. From the time I purchased the service it was about 2 months before it actually happened.
The company could use a good software system to keep track of clients and a person who is responsible for managing customers. I felt that I had to chase them to because they did not have time to follow up on messages or phone calls.

I was told that because of all the problems I would receive extra hours. I have to assume the time was put in because I have not had any follow-up contact from the company to let me know. When I got home the work I had requested was completed. Considering that it was the first time I'd worked with them, they did a pretty good job,
I might use them again if they improved customer service.
"Hi there, Thank you for taking your time to provide your feedback. Typically, we have not had an issue with our response time for our scheduling. However we are always looking for ways to improve. Additionally, there have been intermittent times where we did not have access to our angies list message center for days at a time, still inexcusable. I show that the crew was there for an additional two hours to complete the work. Should you have any questions or concerns please do let me know. Sincerely, Jennifer Operations Manager"

The reason I gave them a low grade is because they did not come back to finish the job as promised and was paid for. The crew showed up with a truck full of yard debris from a previous job. They didn't have the proper equipment to complete our job, but I let them use my trimmers etc. The young men that did the work were very polite and willing to get the job done but were unable to finish because of the full truck and wrong saw. They saved 30 minutes of their time so they could come back with an empty truck and the proper saw. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them since. I emailed them on 7/1/14 and asked when they would return to finish the job. I received an email 7/7/14 apologizing for the delay as they were gone for the holiday weekend. I completely understand that they wanted to take a long weekend especially since it was a holiday. The final straw was the fact that the email stated, "I will be able to respond this afternoon with a date for you." I haven't heard from them.
I don't think I should have to keep asking for them to complete their service that I paid for.
Like I said before, the two that showed up did a good job. I'm not happy with the lack of follow through on the owners part.
7/1/2014
Hello! Any idea what day the "boys" will return to pick up the cuttings and use the the last 30 minutes of the time paid for. I'm very pleased with the work they have done so far.
7/7/2014
Complete Land-care I apologize in the delayed response. We were gone for the holiday weekend and are now returning. I will be able to respond this afternoon with a date for you.

Brandon was the first landcape professional to come out to my owner-occupied investment property/duplex (short-sale rehab), take a look ,and provide an estimate for the yard clean up and maintenance contract. (It hadn't been mowed in over 6 months!) Due to the size (1+ acre) he said he had to charge an hourly rate ($100 a hour with a 4-man crew working). He then gave an estimate for a Bi-weekly contract (2 mows a month and edging) for $150 a month. None of the other couple of local landscapers I reached out to were even willing to meet me around my schedule. I checked other reviews on Angies list and these prices were competitive given the amount of yard I have. With a four man crew, they took 3 hours and billed $100 a hour for a total of $300. f you saw the yard, I think this was a fair price! They then did a bi-weekly contract for me for a few months. I did have to communicate a couple of concerns such as making a few more passes and picking up some loose grass, but if you professionally communicate any issues with the job, they will learn from it and address accordingly. They also addressed a minor issue in their billing/invoicing software promptly. I have stopped using Complete Landcare for the mere reason that my property management company's contracts state that the tenants will be held responsible for the mowing. And I'm at the point where my $$$ to pay others is running out, so I don't mind mowing a half acre. If you are in the Puyallup/South Hill area and have a large yard, don't be fooled by the gimmicks or Groupons because there are usually hidden additional charges/fess for large yards. Instead, I would highly recommend you call Complete Landcare!
The provider came on the day we had agreed on and really cleaned up the place. He (Brandon) was there for 1.5 out of 2 that I paid for and got things squared away as best he could. He did e-mail me saying what he did and that he was unable to complete all the work in the given time frame due to a lawn mower and the acreage. He did mentioned he came back at a later date and did do some more work in the remaining .5 hours. I was not personally there to oversee the work but my wife came home each time and was satisfied with what the team did.
