I don’t even know where to start. In the beginning it was great. He made all of these promises, did extra (or so we thought) he gave us the time and space to share our plans and concerns. As time went on, him and his crew left messes, left power tools plugged in outside overnight, left concrete out uncovered while it rained to harden on our grass. They left floors open and did half the job on everything from insulation to spackling. Oh, and a random guy showed up on a Saturday to finish the spackling job that clearly did not do this for a living. My husband had to fix most mistakes when they went home. Every night we would walk through the house and pick up nails, unplug power tools and sweep up dust and debris. They even put siding over our dryer vent. When we asked how much would it be to continue flooring into our exsisying living room we were told not to worry about it so we said thank you and purchased the flooring to later be hit with 1,200 dollars extra on our total then told it was to lay the flooring. I wasn’t expecting it to be free but a heads up would’ve been nice so that I could’ve planned for the expense. All of this was terrible but something that really sucked for us is that we planned for a covered porch in the back. We asked for it in the beginning and spoke about what we wanted. He agreed. He forgot to put it in the drawings so we asked him about it and once again he told us not to worry that it would be completed. Looking back it was my fault in trusting him. The job was not completed and he has vanished into thin air. We had the town call us a month ago asking to pay for an inspection and have them come out to complete it so I called Rick and asked him if he needed me yo go do that. He once again said don’t worry about it that he will take care of it. Well, just got a call last week from the town stating that it still needed to be taken care of so that’s what I did. Not only was the job sloppy and not finished but now, there are cracks in my brand new construction and water coming in through the wall. Our floor is sinking in multiple places and has even cracked on a corner in one part of the house. I’ve decided not to reach out because he’s no better than a stick in the mud at this point so once again my husband and I will fix his mistakes even though we paid him a little over 100,000. So disappointed. It will be difficult ever trusting a contractor again.
Response from Concrete Impressions Concrete & Masonry LLC
"This so on true , I told them I would do the porch roof when the weather was good and still will , the smoke detector inspection was forgotten by the inspector, This is the first I am hearing of any issues, I have no problem fixing anything ."

Rick was fabulous. It is very refreshing to have someone that understands that horse needs. He did a beautiful job with stalls and run in sheds and will definitely be reaching out to him in the spring for additional work.

All our back yard parties are the talk of the town! People are completely amazed by the transformation from ordinary run down deck to a Tuscan inspired patio of our dreams!

Rick did a great job on our stamped concrete patio. Very clean job site, finished on time, and left us with a great finished product.

He lied to the town about the permit. He bounced the permit check. He was not suppose to continue working until he paid the permit. He has also been fined $2000 per day and it is up to $80,000 that he owes the town for the permit. He took the whole addition down, replaced my windows, he completely gutted the addition and re framed - not by code. He left me with no windows and not closed in, major leaking in the roof. He never came back to finish and he didn't start the bathroom at all. He claimed he had no money. We contacted his general liability insurance. They came to look at the damages. They have tried to contact him and he is avoiding. We are now waiting for the insurance company to pay the damages. We've been living uncomfortably, in the cold during this Winter. It's been a nightmare! I am in litigation with this company and have filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs Division of the State.

#1- He sent a young man with another worker to demo the existing patio. The bulk of the old concrete was hauled away for recycling. A young man was left to tidy up to prep for pouring the next day. We explained to him in detail to NOT disturb the rocks that consisted of our foundation for the 1830 kitchen of our home. When I came home from work, ALL the rocks were pulled out from UNDER the foundation which supported the sink, counters, stove , frig and dishwasher! We called Rick immediately and told him and the young man to STOP all work, as we now needed to get a contractor in ASAP to rectify the issue. A contractor pulled his men off his current job to come the next day to pour replacement footings and foundation. We never subtracted the cost of this contractor from Rick's final bill.

#2- Now that we called a stop work because of the foundation issue, Rick put us on the back burner as far as returning to complete our job. We waited another 3 months before he returned.

#3- Rick and his crew finally poured the concrete patio and stamped it with our choice of a cobblestone brick pattern. Rick himself stayed behind to wait for the drying process to apply the colors we chose, which was an off white base and a taupe brick color on top. We didn't see any color coming up as the patio dried, but Rick assured us the color would be visible when it was thoroughly dried in a few days. We patiently waited another week with NO COLOR at visible all, just the grey concrete color. We contacted him to request a consult as to how this lack of color could be rectified. He returned in a few days and SPRAYED some taupe color mixed with a lacquer protective coating. He was paid in full as he assured us this was a proper finished product we hired him to produce.

#4- Within a few days, the lacquer began to peel off the concrete. We contacted Rick to come back so the three of us could plan a solution to the: lack of color and now a peeling lacquer surface. Even though we called numerous times over the next three months, Rick NEVER RETURNED OUR PHONE CALLS OR REQUESTS. We were asking for Rick to return to FIX the problem he created.

#5- After many months of searching the internet, placing phone calls to other concrete stampers, etc. in attempts to rectify this issue, we gave Rick one last certified mail warning to contact us. Rick continued to ignore us.

#6- My husband Ralph D'Aries filed a complaint in Newton, Sussex County, New Jersey Small Claims Court for the return of the $4,000, which was the cost of the patio. Rick ignored all the court papers and was a no-show in court. Ralph was awarded a judgment for $4,000. Rick continued to ignore our assigned Court Officer when requests for payment were made by him. After several months of our CO not being acknowledged by Rick, the CO began collecting Rick's VIN numbers from all his work vehicles and sports car. Rick FINALLY paid our claim.

By this time, I finally figured out a solution for the lack of color for our patio. I stripped all the peeling lacquer off the concrete with a paint remover. I then applied two different colors of concrete stain and then finally, a protective coating. When everything was said and done, it was a period of over TWO YEARS before we could use our patio. It looked very unsightly as it was with peeling lacquer. Now we enjoy our patio as it was meant to be way back in 2007!! debby D'Aries
