Jim came and inspected the areas for removal and what I felt was a very fair estimate. His team was able to start within the week, arrived on time and when I asked questions about their safety precautions they were happy to share the details with me. There was a little more insulation in the crawl space than they originally saw but they honored the estimate. He asked in advance if I wanted air quality testing after the removal and we said yes. They had a licensed third party perform the testing on the day of the work and let me know it was clean; I also spoke to the air quality tester. Shortly thereafter they provided electronic and hard copies of a letter from the tester and the detailed report. Thank you!

Jim was very efficient. He got the work scheduled and completed quickly. He communicated throughout the entire process and sent pictures of the progress. His pricing was very fair and he was generous with his time answering all of my questions and explaining the process. I would definitely hire him again if needed.

My experience with Controlled Abatement Technologies was excellent. They were at my home in under an hour to give an estimate, gave me a thorough explanation of what was being performed, provided their estimate that same day and were willing to work with our schedule/budget. The work was performed at our convenience in a single day; the conclusion report and air monitoring results were also given to me that same day. I am very happy with their work, professionalism, respect for my home and overall knowledge on asbestos abatement.
We were really pleased with Controlled Abatement Technologies, and appreciated Jim's responsiveness and honesty.
Jim was recommended to us by someone who refinishes hardwood floors- he heard of him through a happy client of Controlled Abatement Technologies. Jim was very responsive over the phone, and quickly schedule a time to come see our home. He spent over an hour with us explaining to us our options and what the process would be. He was professional, courteous and reasonable.
We decided to hire him, and arranged to leave a key to do the work while we were out of the town over the weekend. He sent us photos of our house during the process and when he was finished. He was prompt, and they left our house clean. We really liked him, and think that he did a great job. We would recommend him to friends and family in a heartbeat.
Jim did a great job. He came out with his crew and removed approx. 200 sq. feet of asbestos tile. He preformed air quality monitoring and had the felt lining (between the subfloor and tiles) tested the same day. During the process he kept me updated and even sent pictures. We were very happy with his work. Definitely recommend.
Not a perfect experience.

After the initial look under the house, Jim sent an employee out the next day to remove the asbestos panels.

I had a look when I got home that evening, and there were still pieces of panel on the ground and panels up in the floor joists. I contacted Jim to let him know, and he and the employee came back the next day to complete the work. This time I went a little way under the house with them after the work was complete and it looked good. Panels were gone, some torn-up vapor barrier had been cleaned up, and the chunks of broken panel were gone. The small remaining bits had been scraped up and disposed of. The area had been sprayed with a liquid silicone solution that coats any remaining dusts and keeps it from becoming airborne. The explanation of the previous day's problems had something to do with a broken flashlight. On the second attempt, the work initially looked like it was done completely and well.

However, when the HVAC guy came back, he found more pieces of asbestos panel. True, it was in small pieces -- about the size of your hand -- and hard to see in the crawlspace. Also true, the pieces tended to break up when handled, so it was a very tough job to do properly. For my part, I did not take the time to do a full inspection after the work was complete, and so we all missed the pieces that were deeper in the crawlspace, on the other side of the furnace.

The cost of the test on the duct tape was $50. The other $200 was to have the asbestos panels removed.
Scheduling was easy. Jim was very responsive and accommodating of my schedule.

Jim did right by us by having the tape tested (a rush job, too!) and finding it was indeed a safe material. We're grateful to him for that.

I imagine that Carolina Air Tech would do a good job in most situations. In this case, the work fell a little short of what I needed and expected.

Jim came out and advised us of our options regarding asbestos in the home. Of all the professionals we worked with during our home purchase, Jim was the best. He is really knowledgeable and doesnt try to scare you or 'upsell' you on more than you need, but also helps you understand this complex issue. His prices are very reasonable.

Excellent. I got several bids on this work ranging from $3,600 to $16,000. This company gave me the lowest bid and best timing to complete the job. They attacked the house over three days and cleaned up very well each day. The original plan was to scrape the textured ceiling, but ran into some difficulties, found the ceiling in really bad shape, water damage, etc, so he offered to remove the ceiling entirely - drywall and all (including old loose fill insulation above). This is what I had wanted in the first place, so I happily agreed. It took more time, and generated a lot more material to dispose of, but they held their original price. That's a great company. I couldn't be happier.

JIM AND CO ARE VERY POLITE, ON TIME, AND THE PRICE WAS RIGHT! THESE ARE EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALS WITH COMMERCIAL EXPERIENCE TO BACK THEM UP! I HAD NO COMPLAINTS- THEY CALLED EVERY DAY TO GIVE ME UPDATES, AND WHEN THINGS RAN A LITTLE BIT LONGER THAN EXPECTED, I HAD UPDATES ON WHY AND FELT PERFECTLY FINE ABOUT IT! ASBESTOS REMOVAL IS NOT A RUSH JOB KIND OF THING YOU WANT TO MESS WITH! THEY EVEN TOOK OUT THE FLOOR TILE THAT HAD ASBESTOS AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME EXTRA TO DO IT! THESE GUYS ARE GREAT!
