"Member did not answer several attempts to contact. When initial contact by Bill was finally made, husband answered. Husband hung up mid conversation, as he had some sort of family emergency. A couple of days later, after difficult initial contact, Bill arrived fifteen minutes before the appointment was scheduled. It was during this time that the Bill was on the phone when receiving instructions from Company’s owner. Bill was professional and helpful, and realized that the homeowner’s distress was because this was an unexpected expense around the holidays and may be having so financial difficulty. This was an old leak that the homeowner’s wife had attempted several times to fix herself. Bill went up onto the upper and lower roof to do scheduled inspection. Homeowner’s wife had a jury rigged patch on lower roof which was disintegrating badly. Roof was fragile and brittle. Because of the homeowner’s patch job, Bill was unable to remove the old shingles for repair. This would have necessitated the complete removal of the section. Bill then, after advising the home owners, placed a patch over the existing singles. Bill used new three tab shingles with appropriate nails and lexanite, as well as laid down rubber to minimize impact while walking on roof. Bill also was on phone with owner to confer. Bill never spoke to anyone other than company’s owner. It was explained to homeowner that the roof was extremely fragile and more leaks could and probably would occur by the very act of walking on it for repair. It was never, at any time represented to the home owner that this was anything but a stop gap measure, and a new roof was needed badly. Homeowner was told to immediately contact Bill if any leaks appeared and was given a card. Home owner never asked for an estimate for just the lower roof replacement, as they had three tab shingles, and wanted new architectural shingles. Bill told them that it was a small roof, and the price would be reasonable. Bill also informed the homeowners that the Company would be very accommodating as to payment, and that we would help them as we have others customers in the past with such situations. With impending rain storms occurring, I told them to call me(Bill) immediately if there was a problem, that we would immediately return and at worst put a tarp on the roof to handle the leak which is our standard practice. Homeowner NEVER contacted the company. The Company sent out estimator, and called back several times, and got no answer, when Bill finally got through after estimate was sent, he asked how is the roof, and he was told that it was leaking. Bill said he would come out to home and address the situation, and they said no thank you. Homeowners told Bill they were talking to the bank, and to contact after holidays. Also, homeowner never questioned about estimate as being whole roof or lower roof, or the price. The price would have been significantly lower for just one part of the roof. In a later follow-up they told Bill they had it done by someone who had replaced a bay window. While it is unfortunate that this has occurred, it is a rarity in our experience. Due to the unusually harsh winter, immediate addressing of inspection/repair issues was greatly impacted and emergency calls took top priority. See Review of ________ and roof we did had get permission from neighbor to put dumpster in their yard, plow their yard to put dumpster, shovel about 2 feet of snow off roof and replace. The Company attempted to keep open the channels of communication as we always do. Several attempts have been made by the Company to address [member name removed]’s complaint, we are only hearing now for the first time and they have declined to respond."
"Initial contact was made by Bill. Bill did complete roof inspection for homeowner as per Angie’s List coupon. Bill checked lower roof which homeowner said needed replacement, but was probably going to be done by another contractor. Bill Checked chimney, which was fine, checked all gutters and fascia boards. Homeowner reported no leaks, and found no trouble areas. The roof was old, and nearing the end of its lifespan. Bill explained to homeowner that she should seek a replacement roof in the next two years. Bill volunteered to have free estimate done for her, but she was not really interested. Roof inspections are done in groups and coupons are good for six months. This was not judged to be an emergency by homeowner or sales representative. Homeowner was agreeable to being contacted in the spring for an estimate. The homeowner at no time ever exhibited any dissatisfaction with the service provided. [member name removed] has not as of yet been charged through Angie’s list for the service. Why she would write this we do not know as no phone calls or emails will be answered As a Christian all I can say is Matthew 18:15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. “ We would not post this response until we made every effort to follow this Christian Philosophy."
