Costello Roofing

Classic bait and switch- stay away from this company. The initial quote was reasonable ($14k) so we made a 60% deposit- then there were many delays-- funerals, hospitalizations, etc seem to constantly plague this company--then after the materials were delivered, but before any work was actually started, they provided an updated quote for nearly double the original quote ($25k) and asking for 80% before even starting the work. We said "no thanks" to that and now they have refused to refuse the remainder of the deposit - valued at 3x the materials(!).

This crew is nothing short of a scam. I hired them to do some sealant work on an 8 unit building in the Bucktown neighborhood. They came in with a low ball number and seemed friendly and really in need of the job. So I thought that I may be just getting a good deal on my small two-day project in between larger jobs for them. They tried telling me they were done with the job. If I was not a handy person and able to recognize incomplete work I would have been embarrassingly ripped off. After they claimed to have completed the rest of the job for the second time they told my neighbor(the condo association treasure) they were done, collected their check and left. The job site was a mess and there were still obvious areas that were not done. I called and threatened to cancel the check if they did not come back. They came back to finish the area that I could see was not done. A few weeks later after we got a good rain all the leaks they were supposed to have fixed on one side of the building were still leaking. I discovered that they did not seal 4 of the six drains they were supposed to seal. They did not remove the old caulking as was detailed in our contract. They only applied a sloppy caulk job over the old caulk that needed to be replaced. They will not come out to finish the job so we have had to hire another contractor. These guys are crooks.

They came out as soon as they could (the weather was the problem) But they took a before and after picture and they did a great job. I feel so much better to get through the winter and so that no animals would get in there. They were timely, courteous and answered all my questions.

We were in need of a new roof system and reached out to a few roofing companies. J.B was very quick to come out (also Costello Roofing was the only company to come out as schedule) to provide us with an evaluation and estimate in the same day! Very professional, responsive also provided options to meet our budget. Needless to say we chose to go with Costello Roofing and have no regrets, the service and communication was great making it truly easy! We have recommended their services to our colleagues and friends.

This was our second time using their services, this was a larger project and it went extremely well. Very professional, friendly, helpful and quick to response.

I had spoken to several roofing companies before we decided to go with Costello Roofing. Price was a factor when we made our decision but it was much more than that. They were prompt when we met, extremely friendly, and had this attitude that they would bend over backward to assure we were happy with their work. They did a great job repairing the roof. We would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Do not do business with this company. They are not to be trusted. I hired them to do a large project and there was still work to do when I made my final payment in cash. That was a mistake. I have not seen them since, which is now over 90 days. They do not answer the phone - when they used to all of the time. They don't respond to emails, phone calls or texts. The only thing I can assume at this point is that they have no intention of honoring the agreement and finishing the work. They have my money and left. Save yourself a ton of hassle and avoid this company.

Very well! JB responded quickly to my contact, worked to get to my home quickly, sent pictures of the issue, completed work on time and in budget. Great communication throughout process. Highly recommend them.

Very good and super fast execution. They forgot to clean up one piece of the old aluminum that had fallen off but it was easy to get rid of.

Fast response and good service from a family-owned business. On the negative side, the cost was higher than the original verbal quote, but nonetheless I would hire them again since overall I feel I got a good value.

It was a disaster. I paid $900 for shingles and flashing on the roof and got a mess. I am having a new contractor clean up the mess.

They worked until dark and were back first thing in the morning, working in a light mist to get it finished. Really professional, nice, informative, and prompt. Roof looks great - and my new home is no longer leaking!

I reached out to Jesus via Angie's List and he replied almost immediately. He was so unbelievably polite and professional and also scheduled an appointment within days to come and give me an estimate. After looking at my roof AND providing pictures of the damage (before he left) I realized that there was more damage than I initially thought which needed repairing. Jesus gave me a VERY fair and competitive price for all of the work. We scheduled the work for right away because he knew there was a lot of rain expected this week and he didn't want the damage to get worse and possibly cost me more money to repair. His guys came and did all of the work yesterday and Jesus provided pictures of all of the completed work. Furthermore, when I had a few questions while his guys were here, I text him and he text me back immediately with answers plus called his guys to make sure we were all on the same page. Jesus Costello and his employees were great to work with and I will 100% use this company for any future roofing needs!

Fantastically. Because of the Xmas season, Jesus, was busy finishing jobs while the Chicago weather was mild. He called ever day to see if the leak got worse (it didn't) while we figured out the schedule. He came in between Xmas and New Year's, took photos, which clearly showed that my over 20 year old flat roof (I am a relatively new purchaser of the house), was broken up. He offered to replace 100 square feet right then and there, and then said he could replace the rest of the roof as soon as it warmed up a bit. His guys did a great job in adverse conditions - it was cold - using shovels to remove all the snow from my roof (and the neighboring townhouse!) and then using torches to make the material adhere better. He replaced the entire roof on Dec. 29th. I can't say enough about Jesus' commitment and responsiveness. He is a young guy with a young family, and he seems totally dedicated to doing a good job for his customers. I highly recommend him.

Costello Roofing did an excellent job! We had a tight deadline during an extremely cold stretch of winter and they got the job done. They came out and quickly found the problem and cause of the leak and fixed it the same day. Not only were they quick and good at the job, they were extremely friendly and pleasant to work with. I'll recommend them to everyone and definitely use them for all my roofing needs!

It went really well. They were prompt to arrive and completed the work in one day.

I reached out to Costello Homes LLC to have some repair work done for our condo building.   I had previously sought the services of another company who came out and gave an estimate and then I didn't hear from them for about 2 weeks even though I called several times to see about getting the work done.  I contacted Costello Homes and almost immediately I received a call back and had someone out literally the very next day.   They gave me an immediate estimate and after I signed off, a crew arrived the next morning and started work.   They finished in about 2 days and I had excellent contact with the company throughout the entire project.   I would recommend them to anyone who needs their services and I will certainly use them again if the need arises.  

We know the ideal situation is to gather a few estimates prior to begin any project, But after speaking to J.B he made us feel so comfortable with his professionalism and gave us a few options that we didn't even know we had. <br /> <br />So needless to say we didn't gather any other estimates and we took the chance! I would like to start this review, by saying, we hired Costello Roofing Repairs thru Thumbtack. <br /> <br />The guys over at Costello Roofing Repairs were very quick on response time, came out when they said they would. <br /> <br />Provided a free and very indept estimate on the work to be completed. <br /> <br />The owners JB and Josh, were very polite, professional, on time, and had amazing communication throughout the whole prosses. <br /> <br />They were very patient with us, helping us choose the type of shingle we wanted to choose, showing us samples and different colors. We went with a architectural shingle. We are very pleased with :) <br /> <br />They came out at the date and time we asked for. 6-6-16 at 8am as was agreed upon. <br /> <br />The crew came out, happy, in good spirits, and ready to work! And boy did they work! Our roof was leaking due to the major storm we had and we were also missing quite a few shingles, J.B and his team was very professional great communication skills. They were able to identify and resolve the problem the same day, I would highly recommend them and I will also use them for future work.
