Overall, we were very satisfied with the knowledge and quality of work that Covenant LLC provided. We had Covenant LLC install a radon mitigation system for our basement. Initially my husband and I met with David for the estimate and consultation. David spent the time to explain how radon can get into the basement, what the system would look like, and how he was going to make sure it was working. After meeting with David at Covenant, we met with a competitor who were definitely not as knowledgeable, were not going to seal any of the cracks or holes in the foundation or even follow industry standard by venting through the roof of the house. The day of install the crew was personable and professional and if they had any questions, they asked. The 3" pipe that Covenant had to install to run through a closet and into the attic. In order to do this, they had to drill through the porcelain title floors and run through 3 shelves. They spent extra time to jig-saw cut the shelves around the pipes and they took special care not to crack any of the porcelain tiles and when finished it looked like it was built with the house. After completion, Covenant came back and tested the radon levels which were reduced to below their guarantee, which itself is orders of magnitude below the EPA limit. We were probably not the easiest clients to work with as we had Covenant move the roof penetration several times until the noise was completely unnoticeable. David was always polite and professional and he wouldn't be satisfied with the job until we were satisfied. We highly recommend Covenant Air to anyone who is considering these services.

Mr. Coffee is a hero who risks his health daily to help mitigate dangerous radon problems for strangers who call for help. This is a dangerous job with daily high radon exposure and when I asked, he said he is aware of the risks but gets his health scanned multiple times a year. I called Covenant Air back in December after noticing that my Safety Siren Pro radon detector kept reaching alarm. Mr. Coffee came out and assessed that I could probably fix the problem myself by sealing some obvious cracks, especially around some pipes, and recommended the products so that I can do it cheap DIY. He was obviously not pushy to scare people into signing contracts, but actually tried to dissuade me from hiring him right off on installing sub slab depressurization. Although the DYI route he recommended would've been cheaper, I hired him to performs the job. The sealing did bring the radon level down where my detector's alarm didn't go off, but I wanted to lower it as much as possible. He then recommended a passive ventilation route given my reading. The passive ventilation again slashed the radon level in half, but I wanted the radon level down even further, so I ultimately opted to install the fan after weeks of data collection and analysis. He installed the fan so that I could easily turn it off to save energy based on seasonal variations. He is a very personable and methodical person, and prefers to monitor the progress of his work so that his customers don't hastily incur unnecessary cost. You almost never see someone like that in the service industry, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
They began wok in January but its not done yet. We already have a radon detector and we have a radon problem and he brought in instruments to do the measurements to confirm my issue. We went ahead to have a barrier installed and fans and all that. January weather isn't good for any service industry. After he installed everything I went down to take a look and the quality of work was not what I expected. So I asked him to mitigate it. The reading on the meter was correct but it showed that the work he did wasn't helping. After that we had a weekly monitoring and then the readings weren't improving fast enough. So it went into February and then March and in April we've had continuous visits. Every time he came back he made some adjustments and we saw a little bit of improvement but it's still not quite where it should be. So it was not what I expected. I'm just about to call it quits.

"From 20 Pica/Liter of air to last test of 2.7 Average and he still owes money. [Member name removed] I will work with you any way I can but you have to call me and we will resolve this... If you don"t mind please add to your review that each and every trip we made no charge was added. Also, that we did more work than we promised by correcting construction issues at 0 Charge. I respect you and your family and would like to resolve any issues you feel are left undone. I do thank you for the comment ."

I cannot speak highly enough of David and his team. When I got a moderately high radon reading on the home I was selling, I had to take care of it quickly so that my closing could go through. David worked me into his schedule and came to my home the day I called. He was delightful, did a thorough inspection, and gave me an estimate. I subsequently got an estimate from another vender, and it was $1,000 more! Not only that, but David had figured out a way to perform the remediation without installing unsightly pipes either on the inside or outside of the house. This involved him working in a very shallow attic space to run the pipes up through the heating ducts, but he was happy to go the extra mile. On the day of the work, David and his wonderful assistant Ryan arrived on time, and spent the better part of a day installing the system. They were convivial and professional without being the least bit instrusive - I enjoyed the experience! After the installation, David explained it to me in detail, and left a radon kit so that my buyers could check the new levels. Not suprisingly, my buyers are more than happy with the results. If you need to have this job done, call David. You won't regret it!
David is great! He did an excellent job installing our home Radon mitigation system. He worked with us to determine the most effective and efficient way to set up our mitigation system. The system works great! Our Radon levels were very close to 0 after the initial install and almost a year later they are still very close to 0, currently measuring at 0.8. He was very professional and responsive throughout the entire installation process. We would highly recommend Covenant Air for help with decreasing the Radon levels in your home.
The service David provides is excellent! He came out to test a house we were in the process of purchasing for radon. He replaced the old radon mitigation system with a new one. He is great to work with and very responsive. He answered all of our questions and concerns about radon. Give him a call!
I wish there were more service providers around like David Coffey. He is everything every other reviewer said and more. I called him one morning and he came out that afternoon with his worker,Ryan. They spent 2 hrs looking over my situation. I have never had a more thorough estimate and evaluation done. They went all through my house and came up with an installation plan. Then 2 days later, they arrived on the scene to do the job. Wow! They arrived at 9am and worked that night til 9pm. They weren't quite finished and came back 2 days later, worked 3 more hours and completed the job. I can't think of enough words to describe my experience. David was informed, honest, considerate, clean, determined to do the job right, etc. It was a very pleasant situation. He guaranteed the radon reading to be 2.6,but he took mine down to 1.5. The fan he installed is so quiet,I didn't think he had it up and running. The piping is strategically placed and not glaringly obvious.
When I see reviews like this,I don't always believe them. Believe this. He is the best. I only wish I could use him for every other issue that comes up with homeownership. Sign me off as a very satisfied customer!

He was good and did a really good job. He didn't take the cheapest way out. He went the extra mile to have it look aesthetically decent. He did it the best for us rather than the easier for him. They were trustworthy and dependable.

I discovered elevated Radon levels throughout the house using commercially available meters in March of 2014. These
levels ranged from slightly above the EPA-recommended upper limit of 4 pCi/L to as high as 13. A local provider
of basement waterproofing systems enclosed the crawlspace and installed their Radon system. Readings inside
the house actually increased !
David Coffey of Covenant Air inspected the house and correctly diagnosed the primary Radon source...a poorly-designed
and constructed area near the main heat pump return ducts. He solved the problem and levels throughout the house
are now well below 4 !
My education includes degrees in physics and medicine, but David has a "Doctorate" in Radon mitigation !

We contacted Mr. Coffee to instal a radon system in our new house. I don't think any one else will work harder to get a radon system right than Mr Coffee and Covenant Air. He was very helpful in explaining what needed to be done and giving us options on how to accomplish this. He will go above and beyond to get your house safe. It did take more than one visit to get the system right. After the initial install he came back and upgraded the vent fan to help lower the radon level at no cost to us. He then came back to seal up my cold air return so that my house wouldn't pull air in from the crawlspace. He was very professional in all of his dealings. Sometimes he might overstretch himself and will be a little tardy but when he is working at your house, he works hard the whole time. His goal is to make your house safe for you and your family. I would strongly recommend Covenant Air.
David Coffey understands radon better than general contractors do. He's knowledgeable and approachable. It's also the core of his business, not an add-on service as it is with some other contractors. Radon hasn't gotten the attention that it needs to have, considering the fact that it's the second-leading cause of lung cancer, after cigarettes. David is a great resource to deal with it. Highly recommended.
David is awesome! Very professional and reliable. He does quality work and you will not be disappointed with him. He explained every step of the installation process and made sure to update on the process during the installation. He put the radon testing device after he was done and then came back in a few days to check the level, which was going down every day after the installation as we were tracking it. In a few days the level went down to 1.0 which was outstanding! So satisfied with his work, expertise, professionalism, and attention to detail. Highly recommended.

I did a fair bit of research and spoke with a couple of companies. I also checked with the North Carolina state site on what to expect from a radon mitigation system and what to look for in a company to install a system, in particular to make sure the installer is certified.
Two main reasons I went with Covenant Air. The first is that David Coffey was the only one in my area I could verify was certified in Radon Mitigation and I was certain that the person completing the work was if fact certified. The second reason is that on our initial conversation David was very informative and straight forward, not pushy and wanted to assess our home and the need for a mitigation system prior to giving a quote.
David ran a 3 day test our home with a device prior to any recommendations to determine if a mitigation system was needed. The results indicated that our radon level was between 10 and 16 (I can't remember the unit of measurement). EPA recommend below 4.0 yikes! David installed the system. He was professional, efficient, friendly and he even cleaned up after himself. Not kidding I didn't have to do a thing! He returned after the system had time to do its work and retested. The level were down to 0.7 and at no time higher than 2.0. The system is quiet and out of the way, you don't even know it's there.
David was very flexible in his pricing also, allowing my husband to install the pipe from the pump to the roof to reduce our costs. He told my husband exactly how to complete the work.
David Coffey was great to work with. He took the time to explain what he was doing and how the system was going to work. He walked me through every step. Even after drilling the whole in the basement floor he explained what was under the slab, it was cool to see. He ran the required piping so that it was up and out of the way and unlike other companies that run up along the outside of the house which can be an eye soar the system is contained inside. We opted to go out inside the garage so that we could monitor the fan but that could have been located in the attic out of sight if we wanted. We had one problem that he was quick to repair and even offered to repair some other things that were not part of the system. He went above and beyond what was required. He was great to work with and I enjoyed talking with him while he was here. I would definitely recommend David. He also does the work himself he doesn't hire the work out. When you call for an estimate he will come out to your house and go over what he will do and the cost and other places just give a rough estimate over the phone and give a range of plus/minus a few hundred $. David's estimate was right on the money even after doing extra work to make sure our basement area was sealed from gaps he found while working.
Our new system has lowered the Radon levels significantly and is much quieter. He has come several times in follow up to re-check the Radon levels to make sure they were excellent. He always came when promised and was very careful to not track dirt into our home.
