"We were contracted to remodel 2 bathrooms for them. We went over everything they wanted done and gave a competitive price. The quote included individual line items for material allowances for us to supply them since they had not picked out the materials yet. As long as the materials were under the allowed amount there would be no additional fee, if it went over that allowance the customer pays the additional. This is common practice. The contract was signed and the deposit paid. The customer postponed work several times, which was fine. Once we were set to start they informed us that they went ahead and purchased all the material themselves and we were just installing them. We removed all the items they supplied off the bill and left only the items we supplied. The customers had placed the tiles in the pattern they wanted in the garage and our techs installed it tile by tile in the bathroom just as they had it laid out. Once installed they decided they didn't like the coloration of one tile and we had to remove it. Since we only had the exact number of tiles needed to complete the job and the supplier did not carry this style in stock we had to return a week later to complete the work. We advised that it would be an additional fee for us to come out since we did not supply the tile and this was delaying the completion. At that point we were told it was our fault and the tile was not placed properly which was not true. Wanting to get out as amicably as possible, we just returned without any additional fees. We were asked to do another job, but as soon as we gave a price we were asked to go down $2,500 and to supply all the materials for the same price so we declined the job. As for the communication, everything was done by email and we always responded within 24 hours or less so I am not sure where that comes from. We were originally supposed to complete two bathrooms, but after the first we we declined the second bathroom."
