My comments here are based on more than 40 years of personal experience building & renovating custom residences and renovating apartment buildings in southern and mid-Atlantic states. I needed a quality contractor for a custom lake home outside my area, so I asked several local real estate and financing professionals for recommendations. One name kept coming up: Shawn Craig and Craig Construction in Oakland, Maine. Shawn and his crew are unusual in a Good way because they provide reliable service and quality results in many areas of construction. They do the site prep, build a beautiful custom home, install a custom dock, landscape and hard scape - and do all of these things very well. The subcontractors Shawn uses for certain specialties are also very good. Shawn and his crew provide quality results on time and this is very rare among general contractors - so I highly recommend Craig Construction. -Brian M

<p>We have a long, uphill driveway, a curved walkway, and a back deck.  Shawn Craig has been our "plow guy" this winter and we couldn't be happier with Craig Construction's service.  Our drive is neatly plow, the walkway cleared, and even a path to propane tank is kept accessible!  And yesterday, I asked late in the afternoon if they could shovel our back deck and they did it while clearing the driveway after Blizzard Juno!! I am very glad to be working this winter with Craig Construction.</p> <br />

There isn't much to say because everything went so smoothly.  The workers appeared promptly each morning and put in a full day of work.  No days were lost for the crew to go to another job site.  At the end of each day, things were tidied up and waste was either removed or piled neatly for later disposal.  The crew was polite, friendly, and professional.  These are the little things that help the customer feel relaxed and confident. <br /> The biggest obstacle was the removal of thick concrete retaining walls that were leaning in toward the walkway.  This was handled skillfully with the use of proper equipment.  Everything else flowed smoothly and quickly, yielding results that exceeded my vision of the finished improvements.  Only one day of work was lost due to heavy rain that made my yard too muddy for heavy equipment. Once the drainage work was complete, I no longer had this problem. <br /> The job was completed on time at a fair price.  When called back to replace a piece of railing that cracked, the owner came the next day and replaced the connector - with a smile and obvious pride in his work. <br />

Craig very competently completed several small construction projects for me.  I have been very pleased with his professional demeanor and prompt service. <br />
