About 12 years ago, I found Jack Crown Plumbing on Angie's list and have used Jack until now. He was always reasonable, honest and provided high quality services. His son Tory has recently joined his business and unfortunately is the polar opposite.
Tory quoted prices for two jobs, which I accepted and scheduled. However, when Tory arrived, his prices doubled and he refused to give me the basis for the revised quotes. I told him his dad was always reasonable and I was upset by the sudden increase, to which he replied, his dad lived in a trailer and he (Tory) had a to make a better living. I tried calling his dad to discuss but Tory became surly and said he was leaving and wouldn't do the work. He had a horrible attitude, and refused to honor his original quote, also replying that his brother works for another plumbing company that would charge even more. I am so disappointed. He won't be in business long!
I called Jack on Tuesday to explore the possibility of installing a new hot water heater. The old one was beginning to deliver sediment to the down stairs tub in the form of black, gravel like gunk. He came by that afternoon to explore options for either flushing the existing heater or replacing it. We agreed that the best option was simply to replace the old heater since it was so old. He said he could schedule the installation for Friday morning. By Thursday the gunk coming into the tub made it unusable.
The next think I knew he informed me that he had a change in his schedule and could install the new heater Thursday afternoon. He arrived at 3:00 PM and at 5:00 PM we had a new water heater, lines flushed and crystal clear water filling the tub.
This is the fourth time I have used Jack Crew and I will certainly call him again with any of my plumbing needs.
I had found a slow leak that appeared on the wall of the foundation, close to the Master Bathroom. There had not been any water on the floor inside the house, so I had no idea how long this leak had been going. The stain on the slab was pretty big and I was highly concerned that I was going to need to tear siding off the house to find it.
I called Local Plumbing Service and scheduled a visit for the following day. They arrived first thing in the morning. I showed them the leak and then we looked in the bathroom. I had previously had a leak in the tub and was concerned there could be a new leak from that area. Jack and his son systematically checked key points in the plumbing system, looking for the source of the leak. By a process of elimination, they determined the leak was actually coming from the toliet. I would have never suspected a leak there. But they removed the toliet and showed me how the brass flange attached to the pipe had slowly cracked over time, allowing water to leak under the floor tile and outside the house.
They removed the broken flange and welded on a new one. They also replaced all the interior parts of the toliet with professional grade parts. Then they set up the toliet and had it working again in no time! And just to humor me, they also cut a small peep hole in the sheet rock next to the tub, so we could look down in there and verify that there was no water leaking down there. They covered up the peep hole with a little plastic vent. Now I can look in there anytime I want.
It took about three hours to find and fix the leak and then turn everything back on. Everything is working perfectly now!

One of my new tenants kept having sewer issues...the washing machine backed up into the house, etc. I had snaked it myself and we had called the city out twice to inspect the pipe going to the street. On their second visit, they said we had roots in the line. I immediately called Local Plumbing Service. They were able to come out first thing the next morning and dug up the cleanout valve. It had broken at the joint, allowing roots to find the water and grow inside, blocking the water flow. They replaced the cleanout valve and a section of the pipe. They showed me how the old pipe used a weaker type of material. The new pipe was a little thicker and they had to install an adapter also to make the connection. Everything was placed in a bed of sand and covered back up. He even took special care to move some new plants out of the way to a shady spot while he was working. I've been using this company now for several years and their service is top notch.

I do not remember the cost for the last job. The very first time we used him, I got three estimates and I think I got all the names from Angie's List. The reason I chose him was because he came in the lowest estimate. It was significantly lower. The first estimate I got was $3000.00 and the second one was around $5000.00. He came in at $1200.00. I asked him if he was doing something different and he told me he wasn't. He ended up doing the work for $1200.00 and we have not had a problem since. That's why we have called him out again plus he takes the Angie's List discount which is official. He is a one man show though and the other ones were big companies so I think he is able to keep the costs down a little bit that way. I think it is just him and his son. I have called him before when he has been busy and I haven't been able to get him. It is just because it is only him and that was a night time thing. He does quality work. I think he has been prompt.

We've been having issues with an upstairs toilet for years. We had the toilet replaced but the problems persisted. I called Local Plumbing Service (love the generic name!) and they sent someone out. The plumber said the problem was most likely the toilet and suggested replacing it. He put in a new toilet, charged me about $300 parts / labor, and there have been no problems at all after a month and a half.

Overall, the experience was great. The plumber arrived on time, went to the store purchased the part and installed it. He was surprisingly reasonable and very nice & pleasant. He didn't overcharge me. I'm very happy with his services and I would recommend him to others. He was the kind of gentleman that you like working in your home.

We contacted Jack Crow Master Plumber based on Angie's List reviews. The existing plumbers we had been using were not available to perform the services we wanted. We asked Jack Crow for a quote to replace our aging gas water heater with a new gas water heater as part of the Texas Trade Up Appliance Program. They came and inspected the existing water heater and gave us a quote for $900. They told us they were familiar with the Trade Up Program and assured us that would be fine. On the date of service, they showed up when they said they would, replaced the existing water heater with the new one, and took the old one away for recycling. They took the Trade Up Program documents with them (as appropriate.) At that point we were thrilled with the entire experience. Unfortunately, that is when the trouble began. The first issue is that we noticed they messed up the vent pipe that went up through our roof. It was now sitting at an angle and the flushing was no longer in contact with the roof. That meant water would definitely get in when it rained, which could be a big problem during a texas thunderstorm. I contacted them about that and at first they told me Jack would be by to take a look and fix it. He never showed up. When I contacted them about it again, they told me that no one would be coming out and that I would have to deal with the problem myself. The bigger issues were related to the rebate program. They took the rebate documentation with them when they left, because they had to fill out some information based on how they disposed/recycled the old water heater. Then they were supposed to return the documents to me so that I could file them with the rebate program. I waited for a week or two, and did not hear back from them. So I started calling about the documents as well as the vent pipe issue above. I called repeatedly, leaving several messages stressing the importance of the documents. I also left messages directly with their receptionist on several occasions as well. When I reached her, I was always assured that Jack or someone else would be by to drop off the paperwork. But he never showed. I even tried to arrange to pick up the documents myself, and even that didn't work. I finally called when the deadline for filing was a few days away. I informed them of the deadline and the fact that if I didn't receive the paperwork from them in order to file, I'd be out the couple hundred dollars from the rebate. And I told them that I'd consider them responsible. At that point, they finally responded. A very nice woman drove to my house and handed me the paperwork in person, and apologized for the coordination problems. While she seemed genuinely nice and polite, it was too little too late. I called so many times I started keeping a log of when I called and whether I reached a person or a machine. That is just completely unprofessional. The problems continued when the Trade Up Program told me that they needed to know the exact price of the water heater to provide a rebate, and not just the flat rate I paid to Jack Crow. Unfortunately, the receptionist informed me that they would, under no circumstances, provide that information to me. After many back and forth calls, we were finally able to settle on having the Texas Trade Up representative call Jack Crow directly. Jack Crow provided the information to the rebate program, and all was finally well. I want to like Jack Crow. We've been very happy with the water heater since installation. And I have friends that have had wonderful experiences with them. But honestly, after they got my check, they were frustratingly difficult to deal with. Everyone has bad days, and so I'm willing to overlook a few bad things. But repeatedly ignoring my calls and not fulfilling responsibilities that have *already* been paid for are inexcusable. I will not be using them again.

They here were vary responsive when I called, and offered to come after hours as they were booked for that day. The leak was very small so I told them no rush. They had put a pressure regulator on about a year prior and it was leaking in the same spot. I had done some major digging in the area, and figured I hit the pipe. Tim was the one who put on the regulator originally, and said her would replace it at know cost, but because I think I may have damaged it, I insisted on paying. We agreed on half of the service call which was way more than fair. Tim was also very friendly to my 2 year old who had just seen a curious George episode about a leaky pipe and asked him about a 100 times what he was doing. I will use them again if needed. I have complete trust in their honesty, feel comfortable with them in our house, and they stand behind their work.

They showed up on time, did careful work, explained what they were doing, cleaned up when they were done, and did the job in a timely manner. I was very pleased. Jack gave us an estimate a few days earlier and left a brochure that allowed me to evaluate and compare the proposed heater with other competitive heaters. They hoisted the old heater down the attic hatchway with no damage to walls or ceiling. I was concerned there might be water leaks or spills that would damage the ceilings of the rooms below. It did not happen. They had obviously done this before and knew what to do and in what order they should do it.

Our water heater was leaking and had to be replaced; it was in a very tight attic space making it difficult to get to and work in. Jack came the same day I called, and finished the job the next day with an assistant; the bill was slightly higher than I had expected, but this was probably justified by the difficulty of the work and the time it took; in any event it was exactly in line with the estimate. Both the replacement heater and the work seem of high quality; I'm quite placed with the work done and would not hesitate to call him again in the future.

I did not have the physical strength to remove u-joints or goose neck under neat sinks. Contacted Jack Crow. They removed, but when they went to replace fixtures, they crossed the hot and cold lines 3 out of the 4 units replaced. Called them and they did come back out to switch. One I can understand, but 3

Everything went great. Jack was professional, knowledgable and efficient. He replaced the leaky connector quickly with parts he had on hand. Of course, the other toilet had to be replaced. he gave me an upfront cost estimate and recommended a good toilet. It only took about 30 minutes for him to get the toilet and about another 30 minutes to install. no surprises. and everything is still working great (a month later).

Jack knows his stuff, showed up promptly and work was solid. Definitely would call him again for plumbing needs if they arose. Would like to have the option of a free estimate but really his prices are reasonable, especially for quality of work done so you'll probably end up going with him anyway in which case he doesn't charge for the estimate.

They came by and looked at the toilet. When they first came, the toilet was having problems with the flush mechanism, but the water line was not leaking. Jack Crow managed to damamge the water line (so that it leaks constantly), then they left without fixing the line or the toilet and did not return subsequent phone calls.
Response from Crow's Plumbing Service
"When we were called out to member's home, there was already a leak at the shut off valve. The tenant had placed a small container under the valve to catch the water. We repaired the leak at the shut off valve, and had to order a special part from the manufacture of his toilet. We turned off the stop to the toilet, and told the tenant not to use the toilet until we could return to effect repairs. We have no record of calls from member, and have not received the part for his toilet yet. member was never billed for any service."

My hot water heater decided it would be best to blow up and go out at 8PM Friday night on Labor Day weekend. I called around and went through my network of friends that are plumbers and even those that think they're plumbers none that I found had my trust. I used Angie's List to try and find someone that had lots of reviews. This Led me to Jack Crow plumbing. Jack didn't try to sell me the moon he told me what I needed and provided his service at a great price. This is a father son business they have one helper and that's It. It made me feel good that I could support the dying breed of business called the family business's.... If you want great service, trusted products and someone you can call 24/7 365 we mud hits the fan you better give these men a call...... Sam R Garner
