I recently had the pleasure of working with Bill and Dave on a renovation project at my home. This was our most ambitious project yet, as we wanted to maximize the existing space to create an entirely new master bathroom and walk-in closet. From start to finish, the entire process was incredibly professional and stress free. Bill was especially dedicated in finding creative solutions to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted for our home. His attention to detail was one of the many impressive things about his work ethic. Not only did he deliver a stunning master bathroom, but he also successfully relocated our laundry room from the basement up to the second floor. He even managed to install new windows in our family room that had previously been windowless! On top of that, Dave has gone above and beyond by building out a beautiful mud room and redesigning our fireplace with a brand new mantel. He also put up an entirely new front porch with a roof - it’s become such an inviting entrance into our home now! Above all else, I have been thoroughly impressed by Bill and Dave's commitment to punctuality and neatness when it comes to their work site. Despite working on large projects like this one, they always take care in making sure everything is clean before leaving for the day - something that I definitely appreciate! All in all, Bill and Dave have gone above and beyond with this renovation project - it's something I'm proud of every single day when I pass through my home's front door. We found Custom Home Works (CHW) during an exhaustive contractor search for a master bathroom remodeling project. We interviewed most of the big name remodeling companies in the area but we were uncomfortable with the either the cost or the job supervision process. In CHW we found a boutique firm whose co-owners, Bill Maibach and Dave Walker, had over 20 years of experience and are with you from design to finish. They are a can do team and, but for a few items, did the complete “to the studs” remodel themselves. Having the owners on site actually doing the work is both highly unusual and very beneficial in making sure the remodel is being executed to plan. They were a pleasure to work with. We found them responsive and professional while delivering a very high quality finished project. I couldn’t recommend more highly.

Bill Maibach knows what he’s doing. We have a small, older (1940) Clintonville house and he was up to every challenge it presented – from plumbing to electrical to window and tile. Bill and his colleague, Dave, took our broken, tiny space and turned it into something clean, modern and functional. Not a day goes by without our family delighting in this new space – it’s just so pretty! Bill is a fountain of knowledge – he made helpful suggestions and every time we talked about the remodel, I learned something new. Ours was a relatively small job for his company, but he was so patient and took time to explain everything to me as this was my first ever remodel. He has seen it all - and even when faced with a rotting subfloor, crumbling wiring and ancient plumbing, he repaired, replaced and upgraded. We are a one-bathroom household, and Bill’s scheduling made sure that we were never without a toilet or water. Remodeling is a messy job, but the rest of our house stayed clean even through demolition work. I’m so pleased with Custom Home Works that I’ve asked them to remodel our kitchen in the spring.

Tom and his crew did a terrific job. The work was top notch and within budget. The job was done in under the time promised. Throughout the process everyone was professional and easy to work with. Would highly recommend and use again.

There are not enough words in our dictionary to express our gratitude for the services Bill provided beginning with designing a layout that served our needs right through to the finished product. This was my first experience with any construction project of this size and it could have been totally overwhelming but I️ shared my vision with Bill and he and Dave gave me exactly what I️ wanted and much more. They answered all my questions and gave me lots of options and great advice. Both are true craftsmen and the finished product is just stunning. I️ also felt the sub-contractors were equally professional and willing to make it just right. I️ would highly recommend Custom Home Works and have already shared their contact info with friends.

We were extremely impressed with the craftsmanship that Bill brought to the job. He made several suggestions that improved upon our initial design/ideas and brought the job home in the time-frame and for the cost quoted. We are already in discussion to have him do some additional work for us.

There are almost no words to describe how pleased we are with the process and the result of our bathroom remodel. Bill really listened to us when we told him what we were seeking to accomplish and came back to us with a beautiful design for the space. Adjustments were made and the design refined as the project progressed so that the final result is as perfect as we could ask for. Bill is easy to talk to and easy to work with and takes enormous pride in his workmanship so you can be sure the quality of the work. We have already asked Bill to work on another project in our home. I think that's the best recommendation anyone can give is to rehire.

Project was done to my satisfaction. Any issue was addressed and resolved with no complaints or grumbling. Dave's work was meticulous, neat, and excellent quality.

Install went fine initially.  Had an issue with a faulty wax ring seal on toilet install several weeks later, which caused extensive drywall damage in hall below bathroom work.  Company came out and fixed the damage. <br />

Out of all of the contractors we talked to, Custom Home Works was the only one who really listened to everything we wanted and came up with a creative plan to accomplish it within our budget. We had a small, dated kitchen, separate breakfast room, and a bump out that contained the refrigerator, some cabinets, and the back door. I cook and entertain a lot and the existing kitchen was totally non-functional for the way we live. In addition, all three rooms were different depths, and the wall between the kitchen and breakfast room contained the original chimney that was part of the old coal furnace. Bill Maybach was the only contractor who was able to push the back breakfast room wall out to the same depth as the kitchen. The result is one large, completely functional kitchen, including an island and desk space. Entertaining is now a breeze and I couldn't be happier with the look and functionality of the kitchen. Relocating the bathroom to the previous hall closet resulted in a much larger, functional space. In addition, they enclosed our porch, opened the ceiling to the roofline, and created another living space that we use daily and love. The crew were a joy to work with. This project ended up taking much longer originally projected (85 year old house!) and we really never felt inconvenienced. They were quiet on the job (no loud music), which is ideal when only plastic sheeting is separating the work zone from the rest of the house. All of their subs were professional and very nice. They came in on budget (we were slightly over but that was due to my expensive taste) and we would not hesitate to use them for future projects. <br />

We had a 1980's style master bathroom, with the sinks in the bedroom area and a small shower and toilet room adjoining. <br /> Bill did an excellent job. He listened well and created a lovely and functional design, integrating this space into one room. Jeff and Jason paid great attention to detail and executed the design beautifully.  They were very courteous and thoughtful; they communicated clearly about scheduling; and they performed all clean up with great care. We would definitely contact them again for future work. <br />

We had a rough idea of what we wanted, but our ideas were very scattered and didn't know how to put it all together.  We had a large wall space extending away from our kitchen that we wanted to fill with matching cabinets and a fish tank built in the middle.  <br /> Bill was great at listening to our ideas and being able to put them together to give us a vision of what was possible.  What helped more were the 3D pictures he created to show us what it would look like.  We did make slight changes along the way, and Bill was very understanding and made it happen.  Dave was the lead installer and was always prompt, courteous, and a true professional.  When the job was completed, everything was cleaned up and ready for use. <br /> We had a few different companies look at this project for us, but Custom Home Works felt like the best option, and their work confirmed it. <br />

Project went well. Most of the issues we had were with vendors or the mortgage company. Bill had to work very hard to solve the issues that came up with getting draws to keep the project moving. Not that he would wan to hav eto deal with the paperwork and phone call again but it is something he is well qualified to do. <br />

We had an outstanding experience.  The job is done very well, we are pleased with the results, and most important the people are friendly and accommodating.

It was well very?done.? We had a great working relationship, he was very corporative.? They used good materials and had great workmanship.

Bill developed a kitchen plan that fit into the existing space of our house.  We were amenable to removing part of the wall between our kitchen and dining room so we could have a larger counter area that could be used for dining and cooking.  Jeff was our continuous point of contact throughout the project, which helped the remodel go rather smoothly.  He was there most days that work was performed, and we felt comfortable working with him-- we felt like he was responsive to our needs and desires for this project.  The kept the work area clean, even during the tear out phase, and they respected our privacy.  They were punctual, even during the coldest winter days.  We will likely use them again for another project in the near future. <br />

Dave did the actual work on my kitchen partial renovation and on the exterior replacement of worn cedar boards and the old lighting fixtures.  Bill handled more of the paperwork and ordering of materials for my project.  Bill also provided excellent suggestions for materials.  I took several of his suggestions and am very pleased with them.   <br /> The work was beautifully done with great attention to detail.  When problems came up and were brought to their attention, they fixed them.  For example, when the exterior cedar boards were replaced under the window sills, it left a gap too big to caulk.  This was brought to Bill's attention and Dave came out immediately to install an additional piece of wood to cover the gap and ensure it would be water tight.   <br /> The tile backsplash was very nicely done.  They followed the pattern I wanted and the whole project was exactly how I hoped it would look.  I've gotten many compliments on the work.  I was pleased and thought it was reasonably priced for the amount of work that was done.   <br /> <br />
