"Let me first correct some of the erroneous information posted in this review. Our direct customer for the cabinet portion of the job was the general contractor, Desert Stone. Our portion of the job was less than half of the $27,000 and only included the cabinetry, not any of the other work. On rare occasions our suppliers fail to make cabinets correctly. That is what happened in this case. The stain on the cabinets was very inconsistent. We reordered a number of doors and drawer heads, but the manufacturer still could not get a good match. We asked for the manufacturer rep to inspect the cabinets which he did. He offered a full credit for the cabinetry. At that point we met with our customer (Desert Stone) and the homeowners to discuss options to move the job along. We offered to replace the cabinets at no charge with those from another supplier. Those cabinets were not acceptable to the homeowners so we then offered a full refund of our part of the job. That option was also rejected. At that point we suggested cabinets from another (but more expensive) supplier. We offered to split the higher cost between our company, the contractor, and the homeowners. All parties agreed to this solution and we ordered new cabinetry from the higher cost and higher quality supplier. At no time did Davis Kitchens walk away from our stated warranty on our work. We offered several possible solutions to the issue and the homeowners chose the one they felt best in the circumstances. Unfortunately, all the back and forth on this problem took some time. It took time for the manufacturer rep to come to Albuquerque. It took time to arrange the credit from the first manufacturer. It took time to present and discuss possible fixes. And it took time for the new cabinetry to arrive. At no time were the homeowners unaware of the steps we were taking. They freely chose from among the options available when presented to them. We apologized more than once for the situation we did not create and worked as diligently as possible, given all the parties involved, to arrive at a reasonably functional solution. It is unfortunate this situation occured. Given the thousands of jobs we have installed over the years this situation is rare. When these things do occur, we always stand behind our warranty. It just takes some time to order and remake a set of cabinets. No manufacturer keeps a complete stock of all of their cabinet styles on a shelf They always have to build cabinets from scratch. Davis Kitchens can only do what can be done in a situation. There are no instantaneous fixes when a major cabinet issues arises. Not for us nor for any other cabinet dealer. Thanks for the opportunity to respond.. Stephen R. King Executive Officer, Davis Kitchens"
"DAVIS KITCHENS CONTRACTED WITH ANOTHER PERSON FOR THE WORK MENTIONED IN THIS REPORT. THIS MEMBER IS NOT A PARTY TO THE CONTRACT FOR THE WORK WE DID. THAT SAID, THERE WERE REAL ISSUES WITH ONLY 1 OF THE 19 CABINETS WE INSTALLED. THE REPAIRS NEEDED WERE RELATIVELY STRAIGHTFORWARD. WE MADE AT LEAST 3 DOCUMENTED ATTEMPTS TO SCHEDULE SERVICE WORK (MID-MAY, MID-JUNE & MID-JULY)AND NEVER RECEIVED A RETURN CALL. WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO RETURN TO THE JOB IN LATE AUGUST AND WERE GIVEN A LIST OF ISSUES DATED MARCH, 2006, WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN PROVIDED TO US. NOT ONE OF THOSE ISSUES WAS MATERIAL TO THE LOOK OR FUNCTION OF THE CABINETRY. DAVIS KITCHENS HAS A WRITTEN ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCESS THAT WAS SIGNED BY OUR ACTUAL CUSTOMER. NOT EVEN ONE OF THE STEPS IN THAT PROCESS WAS FOLLOWED BY OUR CUSTOMER. INSTEAD WE HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF MISLEADING STATEMENTS ABOUT OUR COMPANY POSTED ON THE INTERNET BY A PERSON WHO IS NOT EVEN OUR CUSTOMER. WE INSTALL ABOUT 3000 JOBS A YEAR. A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THOSE JOBS HAVE ISSUES THAT MIGHT BE CONSIDERED SIGNIFICANT. WE OFFER A 2-YEAR MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY AND A FORMAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCESS TO ADDRESS THOSE RARE ISSUES. WE FEEL IT IS UNFAIR TO BE MALIGNED BY SOMEONE WHO IS NOT OUR ACTUAL CUSTOMER AND WHO REFUSED TO FOLLOW THE MUTUALLY-AGREED UPON PROCESSES, WHICH ARE INTENDED TO RESOLVE THIS TYPE OF ISSUE AMICABLY."
