This is our third project with D&D and I expect they'll be our default for all future landscaping projects. Paul Doherty personally specs out each job and manages the project. The workers are professional, attentive to detail and unceasingly polite and friendly. Our most recent job hit a snag when the fencing that D&D had included in the estimate was unavailable because of damage from late-winter snowstorms. No problem: the workers built a fence for us instead. The change in plans probably added two days to the planned schedule, but there were no complaints, no griping about additional cost and no changes to the final price. Having dealt with many contractors over the years, I've come to appreciate how rare it is when they show up on time, complete the job to spec and charge what they say they will charge. D&D Mulch hits on every critical point. I highly recommend them.

Around 15 pine trees were planted in September/October 2016. We were never told how to care for them (water, nutrients) and when they failed, we were told they weren't covered under a warranty because they were not in an area with irrigation. This was after multiple phone calls went unreturned, emails from the owner (Paul) were rude and condescending, and he then refused to discuss it further and stated his obligation was only to the builder, not to the owner (we owned the home at the time of the plantings in 2016) and by inference not to the work he had performed on our property. Poor quality service, not standing behind his work. Disappointed with D&D and its management, and would never use them again.
Response from D&D Mulch and Landscape, Inc.
"Dear [Member Name Removed], We are very sorry about your feelings toward our services and management, and we want to explain this situation to you further, starting from the beginning. Last fall (2016), our landscape department was contacted by your builder regarding planting numerous trees on a property he was developing. Since it was so late in the planting season, we informed your builder that it would be very difficult to grow the trees. Upon inquiring about an irrigation system in the area where the trees would be planted, we learned there was none, at which point we strongly recommend against planting them. Against our recommendation, your builder insisted we follow through with his quote to plant roughly 15 pine trees, at which point we informed him that there was no guarantee they would grow, and we would not be able to offer a warranty on them. He responded by informing us that when building your house, he had damaged the area where they would be planted, so he needed the trees to be installed as soon as possible, and he would not hold us responsible for whatever happened to them afterward. Once the trees were planted, we gave your builder specific and detailed instructions on how to provide the best environment for growth, which involved a strict watering schedule. We understand that you are frustrated by the situation since information was not relayed to you on how to grow the trees; however, we did provide all the necessary guidance, warnings, and instructions to our client, your builder."

They delivered the mulch on time. However they will not put the mulch in the yard, it must be on the driveway. The delivery man informed me that the Owner wouldn't allow it because he had a truck sink in a yard more than likely in a shallow septic system leaching field. I could understand that as long as the homeowner didn't know their own yard. It just made it very difficult for me being a 60+ year old to shovel it onto a wheelbarrow and get it across the yard. Other than that, the mulch is of excellent quality and lasted quite a long time.

Excellent quality...I tried some "premium" bags of mulch (on sale) from a retail store and it was a lot of chunks that lost most of its black color after the first rain. The mulch from D&D was much easier to spread and the same amount covered a much larger area (no chunks)... Driver split the delivery and put it 3 different locations around my house...next day delivery... Excellent experience all the way around!

Be careful hiring these guys. Paul seemed nice and talked a bit game about quality / cost / warranty of project but as you will see in the pictures below their professionalism and quality are sorely lacking. They bit off way more than they could chew and didn't have the common courtesy to be open about it. I came home one day to find the workers not working; there were days when the foreman disappeared and all I got from D&D was a credit for those days...problem is when you have a day job you can't be there everyday so who knows what was happening when I wasn't there. Safe to say based on the poor work ethic the project stretched on way too long and became very very over budget which of course they push back on us as 'change orders'. BS. In the end we agreed on a settlement to get this project wrapped up (certain $'s up front at the agreement and rest when its done). They again took forever but were working so I didn't say anything. When Paul started pushing for the remaining $ my response was you're not done (see pictures...tell me if that looks done to you....how ugly is that side yard full of dirt, debris, water damage etc.). Also take a look at the sinking of the tiles only a few weeks after being done. Paul's response was to 'take some money off and pay me the difference....clearly he wanted to cut bait an run'. When I again told him no final payment until done they claimed breach of contract and have not been back since. We are now in the process of documenting up our case against them. Be very careful people about hiring them....Paul may sound sincere but at the first sign of issue he will run and leave you high and dry. There are SO many other contractors out there go use someone else and don't take the risk here.

The truck was here on time as scheduled. He would not dump the mulch in the yard because they company had a problem with their truck sinking into a leeching field. I told him that our field was out back but he said he couldn't put it anywhere except in the driveway, which I understood. It just made it a bit more difficult for me to carry it over to where I needed it. Other than that the product was excellent and it lasted at least three years before I needed to replace it. I would definitely use their products again.

Ordering online is very easy- website even has a calculator to determine how much mulch you'll need. Company followed up with a phone call. They delivered it at the precise time and place requested. We've ordered from them twice before. Each time we've received a quality product delivered in a professional manner.

Although they will finish the hydroseeding tomorrow, I can't help giving the review. Everything is beyond my expectation. My yard is a mess after being ignored by previous owner for years. All grass are dead. Stones are strewn around the fences. There is a big hole after we remove the stump of the 50-year-old maple tree. We need someone to do the dirty jobs to renovate everything. Most small-scalelandscape doesn't like to do this kind of one-time job. They prefer regular maintenance. Therefore when I call a lot of contractors, the response is very tepid. Paul is different. He is very responsive. The main reason I hate to work with most contractors is that they let me feel I am begging for their help. Try to contact Paul, you will feel different. We soon made an appointment at my house. Then we have some email trading. I asked a lot of dumb questions. Although he still gives me a rough quote,as always, he responds very quickly. He does't ditch you just because the job is small. His crew come on time. Here is how the marvelous journey begins. Based on his quote (the price is decent), I don't expect they will do too much. However, they seem to have some high standard built in their minds. The first day, they dump a lot soil to level part of my backyard. For the front yard, I expect them to do a rough top dressing. However, they always do something extra. Everything is neat and well-done. When doing the mulch bed, they prune all the low-hanging tree limbs. It looks they deal with their own yard. During the work, I make an additional request to remove all the huge stones. Paul doesn't deny this kind of dirty jobs. He adds a decent surcharge. I am very very satisfied with their work and will definitely to hire them again. The last thing is that they seem not to do the regular yard maintenance?? Paul told me he works with the enterprises like Walmart. Maybe this is why their scale is different from the local contractor.

D and D did amazing work.  My expectations were blown away with the service and quality of the work.  The owner Paul was always quick to respond to emails and came out to walk my property.  All the work was completed in a few hours and all the grass grew in perfectly.  will be doing business with them again in the future.

Paul was extremely responsive and helpful in setting up the work to be done. He provided an accurate, detailed estimate of work to be done. I emailed him with multiple questions, all of which he replied to in a timely fashion. The staff that were assigned to our job arrived promptly and completed the work within the time that we had discussed. They were polite and courteous and did excellent work. We are very happy with the work that was done and would be happy to use them again in the future. <br />
