It's awful.  We are right now trying to see what we can do to get our money back.  He took our money and ran basically.  He has not finished nothing in the house, he took $35,000 and just took off.  It has been awful.  Now we have somebody else back in the house now getting ready to do all the retaining.  He cracked our bathroom tile in our master bathroom.  So that has got be re-grouted.  Our son's bathroom his shower will not drain, so we have somebody coming in Saturday to tell us how much it's going to cost us to tear that up and re-do his shower.  It has been horrendous.  I mean this guy he brought his 78 year old father to come in and do all the painting.  His father has dementia.  I can not even begin to tell you how bad these wall look.  In my son's bathroom on the window, because we had the windows torn out and new ones put in, he used two different types of framing, now we've got to have one part of the frame taken down to make, and get the other pieces to match the other side.  He's got two different frames in my son's bathroom.   When we took out the windows and had them replace he did not, he went out and tore down the siding on our house and left it off.  My husband had to come and put it up because it looked like a bunch of low life.  We had people stopping and asking why are your windows blocked up?  It has been the most horrendous experience we ever had.  It's hard to do, I mean we had somebody come in and tell us, we have to take out every bit of the grout, we gave him over twenty some thousand to do our bathroom and he cracked every bit of the grout on that floor cracked.  There was twenty thousand dollars of work in there.  And now I have to pay somebody to come in and literally tear it all up.  And that was some of the most expensive tile there was.  And then we paid him over $5,000, my bathrooms are small bathrooms, now we have to pay somebody to come in and redo it.  The threshold coming from my son's bathroom into our hallway, he didn't even do it, it's not put in place.  I have to pay somebody to lay the slate down right there.  My bathroom, I had my bathroom re-painted, we paid $350 to have our bathroom repainted and then we paid $150 to have our son's bathroom repainted.  Because the job was so horrible.  It is unreal what I am living in right now.  We tried to get in touch with him and he will not text us, he will not answer his phone or nothing.  He got all of our money and just took off with it.  We had a brand new door put in in the front and my son in law had to come over that day and put the lock and stuff on the door because I couldn't lock my door that night. He left all of the framing around the door undone, unfinished.  He did the same thing for the bath door.  It's unfinished.  I've got spots in my floors where he said he would protect our floors because we didn't want to redo our floors.  I have got big spots in my floors where he tore up our floor.  This guy just took off.  We told him this imperfection, this imperfection, this imperfection, one of my doorways going into my hallway because we did a remodeling job when we started this it was January, it was really cold because they tore out my ceiling and everything.  We blocked out the hallway that the bedrooms were down to try to stay warm.  We had him putting circles all over that door frame.  He didn't even take that door frame down and redo it.  He tried to caulk it up.  We had to have the door frame taken down and redone.  It was awful what he's done.  My house looks so trashy.  We finally got the bathrooms repainted and now we are moving into the living room to try to correct all his imperfections in there.  We have to remodel the whole entire wall. You have to re-mend this wall the imperfections are unreal.   Every thing to redo in this house is going to cost us more.  My kitchen, what he did to my kitchen we are talking another $30,000.  He won't even come back and fix what he already screwed up. This guy is an ex-police officer, and he just took off.  He won't get in touch with us, he won't call us, we asked him to give us back $10-12,000 just to have our bathroom redone.  All these wall we painted, all this mess.  It is awful what he has done.  Just the mental anguish alone.  We had to have people redo our door frames in my bedroom.  He put in an entry way door frame, a closet and then going into my bathroom.  He did not complete the bottom of it.  He left big holes between the flooring and the framing. What are you going to do about those holes?  Nothing, I can't do nothing with those hole.  I said David, you've got holes in the floor, there is gaps. You should have brought the framing all the way down.  We finally got the bathroom fixed, we got that going into our bathroom fixed.  We have to find out how much it's going to cost us to re-caulk all of that tile.  He said he has to re-fix our bedroom and then he's going to re-fix the closet.  He didn't even put down all of the trim in our bedroom, we had to do that.  My husband just completed that before he went back to work. He came in in January and this is July.  He was averaging on the make a month and then some per room.  Can you image somebody taking over a month to complete one room?  And that's what he did with my bathroom, my bedroom, the living room, the little hallway, my office, which he did not complete my office.  He left it uncompleted.  Now we are trying to find someone to finish the closet.  I'm in the health field so I had to turn my closet into a lab and now we are trying to find the stuff to complete my shelving and stuff because he left those incomplete.  And he broke the shelving when he put it in there.  The top shelf it's been broke and the bottom two shelves and he broke those off.  This guy has patched holes on top of holes.  The door frame going into my bedroom is smaller than the one he took out.  There was holes running all the way down on the left hand side.  Big holes, you could see them.  David you've got to fix that.  I'm sorry, but I don't mean this, but we paid all that money for Angie's List and we have had nothing but, it has not been a good experience.  It's been a horrendous experience, let's be honest about it.  My son's bathroom is unusable.  You can't use that shower, it will not drain.  The water fills up to your ankles.  You have to get down on your hands and knees and scoop it down the drain.  No eleven year old is going to do that.  I can't let him use it because I'm afraid he's going to mess it up.  I mean I shouldn't have to pay more for someone to come in and fix it.  I trusted in this guy so much and he talked such a pretty talk.  And you brought in your own father for God's sake.  I trusted him in the beginning and he needed the money, he needed it to buy other stuff and he didn't.  He knew in his heart of hearts the whole time he was going to leave all of this to us to fix.  It is, the mere fact that bathroom, my bathroom is over $20,000 of work, I can't imagine what it's going to cost to have our floor pulled up and redone.  We are beyond ourselves with worry.  My God why would somebody do something like that?  He won't talk to us.  And we can't sue him because something of harassment unfortunately.  How funny that is.  If he would have had someone else in here working with him instead of his 78 year old father, I don't think all of this would have  happened.  I think he is a contractor.  He's not used to doing the work and why he chose to, I guess he was in a bind and chose to do all the work himself so he wouldn't have to pay nobody.  But he didn't have nobody backing him up that would help him.  You see what I am saying?  Even th
Response from Deaton Builder's, Inc.
"All work was completed and we were paid. We were scheduled to add an addition and expand their kitchen. We waited for 2 weeks to hear from them about a start date. Other work came in and we could not start and complete within customers time frame. Customer hired son in law to perform work which we had to correct that we never charged for. All work that we were paid for was completed properly. Customer was satisfied with all work during each phase before going to the next."

My experience was very good.  They made sure I was covered under all of the permits and things like that.  They had a very fair price and listened to what I wanted.  They made suggestions on how to do the same thing and save a little money.  They were very good.  They were very professional and were there when they were supposed to be here.  If I had any issues afterwards like a touch up here and there, they would come back; it was not a problem.  I am thinking about using them again.
