Very happy with every phase of the project. The deck had patchy coating of weather worn stain. It's a big deck, about --' x ---', with wood railings, gates, stairs. Charlie Simmons and his crew did a great job. Charlie was very knowledgable about the best stain to use. If I used the same stain I had used, in a couple of years I would have to again strip the old stain before applying new. Charlie offered a stain that does not require that the previous stain coat be stripped before applying new.. I think this will save me a lot of effort and cost the next time I refinish the deck. His and his crew's attention to detail really helped. Their cleaning and stripping process got into all the nooks and crannies and they applied several layers of stain until saturation. They were prompt and careful to tarp adjoining bushes, house, and so on. The stain looks great, and from what I find from searching the net, there's a lot of satisfaction with how it holds up.

Charlie and I had a very rough start, the quote was done in April and they just finished 1 week ago. The weather seemed to play a big factor in the delay, and probably some other issues that did not get disclosed or mentioned. The communication was the biggest issue, as stated on a previous review before he started. Once Charlie and Chris were able to commit they did a great job and were very thorough in the process as each step was discussed in detail. we still had some weather issues and it seemed to be working against the clock over the 1 week period it took to finish. Charlie apologized for his communication breakdown and extended a discount for the issues. My deck is done and it looks really good and I have his reassurance if any issues pop up he will be back to take care of them. I would use Charlie again and recommend him to others.

After we agreed for Charlie to perform the service as quoted, he and his crew arrived in mid-July (the rainy spring we encountered caused some schedule delays), and spent 2 full days stripping and cleaning the area. This deck was built in 2013, and was initially stained in 2014, so some TLC on the existing wood was definitely needed, and Charlie did an outstanding job bringing it back to life. After allowing for the wood to dry, they were out 3 days later to sand and stain the deck. The following day we had our son's 2nd birthday party at our house, and our friends and family were very complimentary of the work performed! If you're looking for someone who truly knows how to "rescue" a worn and weathered deck in Summit County, give Charlie a call!

We were very pleased with him. We went to Angie's List to find someone, and he was highly rated. He did a good job. I'm not sure how much it was, my husband took care of it. But I know it was reasonable or my husband wouldn't have contracted with them. They did a nice job. It looks great.

What we got was not what he originally promised. Difficult communication. Job was not completed when promised.

Charley at Deck Rescue - Summit, did an outstanding job. My deck is decades old. It was grey and black looking and had mildew/mold on it. The lead-in to the deck steps was unfinished and jagged. The first day Charlie came out he reviewed what he was going to do. I asked about different options and he went through a lot of them. I had mentioned the problem with the jagged edge at the step lead-in and he suggested a solution, for which he would charge hourly. After we talked, he power washed and cleaned the deck. I wish I had taken before pictures, because this decades old wooden deck, looked like a new deck when he was finished. I really couldn't believe how great it looked, and this was just the washing and cleaning. Two days later Charley and his crew came out to stain the deck and repair the steps. He solved my problem with the steps beautifully - it looks perfect. Charley and his crew did not rush the job. They were very, very thorough. The final outcome is better than I could have reasonably expected. Charley was very professional and personable. I am glad I found the best company for the job.

Charlie was professional, courteous, on time. We were on vacation while the work was being performed and charlie worked long hours to ensure the project was complete by the time we got back. Deck Rescue did a great job as far as keeping the rest of the house from being contaminated with dust an/or smell from the product. Also left the room they did in a cleaner condition then when they started.

I put the original finish on my deck, which did not turn out as expected.
The biggest problem was that the EPA required a change in the remover formula, so I could not remove the finish.
I used Angie's list to get 3 estimates, and chose Deck Rescue.
Charlie, is a very nice person. He was the only one that gave me several options with different prices. Stripping would give the best results, and he was willing to test several areas to see if it was a viable options. No one else offered to do this, they simply told me it wasn't possible.
The deck was power washed, stripped (poor guys even worked in the rain), sanded, and refinished with my choice of stain.
Any minor complaints I had, were resolved quickly and to my satisfaction,
Deck care is subject to the weather--they were very prompt when weather allowed. The young crew were very courteous AND METICULOUS. Charlie stopped by to supervise, they came back to touch up--Charlie came to make sure everything was done to his standards.
When the deck coating was set, Charlie and crew came back to coat the deck with an anti-mold treatment. he also did the plastic deck furniture.
Did an excellent job.
All in all a great experience--signed up for annual pressure washing and mold treatment.
Also, did not require a down payment--said we had to be completely satisfied before we paid anything. Very refreshing and responsible attitude.
Highly recommend.

Charlie and his crew provided excellent service. I was given a detailed written estimate. They painted the stain on a sample piece of wood so that I could preview it before staining. We have a lot of stuff on our deck and busy schedules so I asked if they would clear everything off before they started. They cleared it all including the 20 planters! The gate has been sagging for a few years and made it very difficult to close. Charlie had a plan to fix it but had to do something else in the end. It looks great. This is the first deck company that ever offered to wash my patio furniture. They came back an extra day to finish off the deck due to concerns about weather. I appreciated that they didn't rush to get it done and instead did it right. Our deck is 678 square feet and we've paid $700 in the past for pressure washing and staining. 3 years later I expected to pay a lot more. Instead I got a great price with several extras included-- furniture removed, patio furniture washed and gate repaired. I would highly recommend Deck Rescue- Summit.
From our first meeting, Charlie was 100% professional. He arrived on-time and walked us through the options available to refinish our deck. As first time homeowners, we had plenty of questions which Charlie took the time to answer. He wrote us a
contract detailing the scope of the work and the total amount it would cost. We appreciated him committing to the entire cost on paper, up front.
Charlie called us a couple of days before the stripping to schedule the time. When the crew arrived, they carefully
removed all our deck furniture and garden pots. They placed them well away from the deck to minimize any overspray on
them. The following day, the crew returned and stained the wood.
The evening of the staining, we noticed there were a few spots still showing the old stain. I contacted Charlie who came out the following morning to see the issue. Without making any excuses, he simply said ?I?ll make this right.? Within two days, the
crew came back with Charlie?s oversight. They stripped the deck again, did a full sanding (above and beyond what
was needed), and restained.
We couldn?t be happier with the quality of the work and the customer service from Charlie. Every company should take a lesson from Charlie on how to treat customers. We definitely recommend Deck Rescue.

We have a large deck. It's under trees, so it turns green and dark, and we have it cleaned about every three years by Deck Rescue. The results are always amazing--it looks so much better and brighter! The deck is beautiful again.
We have a large cedar deck. Our deck was in bad shape as far as it had several different coatings on it, and it still kept peeling and looking awful every year. Charlie, of Deck Rescue, came out and stripped the deck first, power washed it, and then used a brightener on it. He then stained the deck. He and his crew were very careful about covering the bushes/plants around the deck so as not to damage them. He also sealed our patio for us.
We had a lot of rain this Spring, and it was hard to find a time where there would not be rain for a few days (because the deck has to dry after staining). He even came out on a Saturday to do the work, since it was the first window of no rain in the forecast for a few days. It turned out beautiful! We were very happy with the results. We will use Deck Rescue in a couple years to wash the deck.
Their work was satisfactory. We had some difficulties in scheduling which is not necessarily their fault because we had a really long period time of rain and you can't do the deck while it's doing that. The work they did was fine, it was satisfactory, the pricing was satisfactory. I did have a little trouble with them when we were just trying to get some communication going with them of when my date would be rescheduled. I had a little trouble getting a hold of the young man that runs the place but we cleared it up.

They were excellent. The were professional, dependable and cleaned up well after themselves. When the job was done, they called to check if we were satisfied. I would definitely use them again in the future.

April/May 2013. Cost was about $ 700.00. They sanded railings and spots on the deck which were very rough, and went over areas again when I asked. Screwed down boards that were sticking up. Had deck stain color matched using a sample railing post. Very friendly and efficient, very neat. It has been a tough winter so we hope the deck will look good after it's cleaned this spring. So far so good!

They were excellent to work with. Charles came out to provide the estimate. He came back after a month due to scheduling and weather issues with two men on his crew to complete the work. They completed the project in about 30 hours over four days. We received three estimates and they were right in the middle.

We were questioning whether we could have deck just refinished or if it needed to be replaced. Deck Rescue came out, took a look, quoted a fair price and fit the job into our tricky schedule. Thanks for the great work. Everything went smoothly and as promised.
We waited about 3 weeks from the time of the estimate to the actual work day. Charlie and his team arrived on time and did a great job cleaning our deck and making the repairs. Charlie had to come back to reattach a step that had to be refastened, but he did that on a Sunday because he wanted to make sure the deck step was not a safety hazard for us. We decided not to have the deck painted this year, but we plan to use Deck Rescue next spring to have it painted. Charlie didn't try to convince us to paint it or pressure us at all. In fact, he pointed out that we could wait on the paint job until next year.
Overall, we were very pleased with Deck Rescue and Charlie Simmons' service. He even called me a week later when I e-mailed him on some follow-up questions, and I was very appreciative of his service in that regard. I would recommend Charlie and Deck Rescue for all deck needs. We will definitely be using his service again.
Charlie refinished our deck last year. Just last weekend some friends asked about how we finished it, since it still looks great.
We had 3 contractors give us estimates. Charlie gave us the lowest bid, but also inspired the most confidence. We hired him, and he set a refinish date 4 weeks out due to his busy schedule.
He personally showed up with a helper for two full days of work. He used time and equipment effectively, and fully prepped, washed, and stained 3 separate decks at a first story, second story, and third story level.
He was always prompt, professional, and courteous. I highly recommend him for excellent work and good value. In addition to doing the work he promised, he asked what else he could do. He pressure washed a concrete pad, outside of the agreed scope of work, for free. He said he always likes to give his customers a bit extra.

Right from the beginning, Charlie presented himself as a top notch contractor who actually cares and enjoys his speciality. I was very happy with the fact that he went over and above to get us satisfied with the final outcome. He was prompt with communications start to finish. We are very pleased with how everything turned out.
Now to the actual project. We have a 5 year old paint that I wanted to be removed to the bare wood and then cover with stain. I was given an estimate between $925 and $1750 by two other contractors. One of which simply wanted to apply a paint of choice over. Another contractor wanted to remove as much paint as possible then apply a semi-solid paint over. Non of which wanted to actually strip the paint off to the wood. Charlie and his friend showed up on time. They were respectful to the plant beds around the deck. It took them two days to strip the paint off. They then stained the deck with the color of our choice. There were some minor hiccups and Charlie handled them well.
I will definitely use Charlie's services in the future once the time comes.
