"We received a phone call from the members on 6/4/12 @ 8:06 AM and scheduled the disgnosis of the unit on the same day (6/4/12 - 12-5). The complaint was that the fan on outside unit frozen up, unit has been turned off. Technician arrived at 11:00 am, and diagnosed the machine as having a bad condener (outdoor unit) fan motor and needed to replace it. He called called the office and we had to call and get the price on am OEM motor, because we do not install generic motors unless the original motor is NLA. He told mrs that he would have to call her back with a price to replace the motor because the supply is having to call the office with the price. She had also asked him for a price to move the unit around the house, because they were having a sump pum installed and had to dig near the unit and did not want to mess up the a/c (he gave her a price of 800-2000) to move the unit, depending on where she wanted the unit moved to. He then left the house after collecting the diagnosis fee of 89.95. Technician then called the member back and gave her a price of 526.65 to replace the fan motor, fan blade, and dual capacitor. (we always quote the fan blade with the motor, because in alot of cases the old blade gets damaged trying to get it off becuase it is so rusted, and the manufacturer recommends replacing the capacitor (stater for a motor) any time you replace the motor). As for the member replacing the fan motor him self for 75.00, I am not sure where the motor came fro, because that is below our cost on the OEM motor, unless he replaced it wit a generic motor. I understand that the member was a service manager for 17 years, and he must understand that there is a CODB (cost of doing busines) and with all the items it takes to run a legitement service company it is not cheap to run a service company. We are in the business to make money and also provide a good living for our technicians and their families. As for the rpicing from the technician, we use a flat rate system on replacing parts and doing repairs, so it does not mater if you are male, female, single or married (or your spouse is not at home) our price out of the book for repairs is the same. You do how ever get a discount if you are a service agreement customer. As for the diagnostic charge it is applied to the repair (526.65-89.95=436.70) if you have us do the repair for you. I am sorry that you do not want to trust us or use us again, because we are a family owned and operated company that stands behind our work and the work of our technicans. I would be interested if the member would have called around and gotten a price from other legitement HVAC companies and see what they charge to replace a fan motor, blade and capacitor. We have been in busines for over 42 years and you dont saty in business for that long by screwing over customers."
