A tree went down in my neighbors yard which took out a small portion of my fence. This happened early summer so it was quite difficult to have both fence and tree removal to come out due to back logs. We were going on summer vacation, so we decided to deal with it up on our return. I called around and no one seemed available until I called Jay. He seemed eager to help. I was excited that someone was finally coming out to get the job done. Jay said he would be at my home first thing Monday morning. There was a man in my yard but that man was not Jay. Turns out, jay does not have the equipment or the man power to carry the job I needed done (btw pics were sent to Jay and he had already given me a price of $450-$500) so the man was there to do the grinding. But he couldn’t due to the big hole in the ground that was left from the tree fallen out of it. Eventually Jay shows up and says he would have to fill in the hole with some soil, that way the grinding machine can get in to grind the tree ball out. I called the fence guys and told them I needed them to remove my fence door and some panels for the equipment to get in my yard for the work to get done. They came out right away. Jay said he was ready to get started as soon as possible, but he never has a time or a day he just says “I’ll be there, I don’t know, I’ll just keep you posted.” As if people have no life. So he finally shows up three days later with some dirt to fill in the hole, right before he was done he said he needed a check. I was puzzled because the work wasn’t done, but I figured he needed it to pay for the soil and the U haul rental he used to tote the soil. So I gave him a check for $500. Two days later the grinding guy shows up and starts doing his job. Jay shows up right before the grinding guy was done and tells me he needs a check for the remaining balance which was $1000, the work was no where near completed. After the grinding was done there was at least 3ft. of dirt sitting on my fence line. Jay drives away with a $1000 check before grinding guy was done and on his way out he tells me he will be back to spread the dirt around. On the same day Jay txt me to tell me my fence guy couldn’t move the dirt so he has to see what he can do. I was shocked. I immediately called the fence guy and he warned me not to give Jay any money until the work was done. I was too embarrassed to tell him I already have. The fence guy to me Jay wanted him and his guys to move the dirt. There was no way to spread that dirt around, trucks were needed to haul all that dirt out ( remember I paid $500 for dirt and I now had an abundance of it). I immediately call the bank and put a hold on the check. After telling Jay that what he did was unacceptable he came out the next morning and did exactly what he said he was going to do...spread the dirt all around, he threw majority of it in my neighbors yard. Jay is such a disgrace. Once the job was completed it was a sloppy mess. I called the bank and took the $1000 check off hold. Two days later I get a text from Jay telling me he was going straight to the courthouse in the morning and he was going to sue me for a bounce check. I then replied telling him the check was not bounced it was simply put on hold until the work was completed and all he had to do was re deposit the check. I received a text the following day telling me that he went back to his bank and everything was good. This guy is an unprofessional, illegitimate, disgusting fraud. Use someone else. You will be disappointed.

"First off, you mentioned you were happy to find someone willing to do this project right away. I stopped other projects to help you! Everything went smoothly and efficiently! Im sorry things weren't perfect its part of being human. Not sure why your so bitter? Did the stump get removed ? Did you get your fence up? You mentioned that you were waiting for 2 months to find someone? Also if you didn't feel comfortable paying me the balance than you should have said so instead of me wasting my time depositing a bad check. Next time a tree falls over and crushes your fence do not call DeSalvo tree & landscapes! You also have [Member Information Removed] to much time on your hands find a hobby! # very nasty!"

Did most of required work. Trees taken down fine but work crew did not protect surrounding landscaping, damaging number of shrubs, plants , etc. DeSalvo failed to remove one large overgrown shrub before leaving site. Have call them several times to return and finish which they said they would. Still not completed.nor refunded money. Would NOT RECOMMEND DESALVO TREE AND LANDSCAPING.

"I explained to you in the beginning that whenever were cutting down large trees some of the small shrubs will get damaged and you said you understood. After the project was finished and you paid me you called me back to remove a shrub that had nothing to do with the tree removal. We worked diligently to make sure everything went smoothly that there was no property damaged. You told me at the end we did a great job and that you would recommend me."

Jay over-quoted his price then lowered his price when the bid was not accepted. I had not realized that the lower price included a lower performance by not completing the job requested. The request was to remove seven large shrubs, add five new shrubs, and trim four. When asked to complete the job (remove the cuttings or at the very least stack them so that the city would pick them up, and finish the trimming) was told it would cost me more to haul away the cuttings because he pays his “guys” well. Promised to come back to complete the trimming and move the cuttings – he was a no show.

"First off, I told you that I was coming back. My grandson has been diagnosed with leukemia, and I've been trying to help my daughter out through this difficult time with these cancer treatments. It's only been a few days and I was planning on coming back as I told you in a voicemail that I left you when you didn't answer the phone. Sorry but I've been running back & forth to a cancer treatment center in Chapel Hill, he's only 3 years old."

They showed up a day late for quote due to storm but came the next day. Completed the job the day after quickly. Only negative is they did not move furniture back. Other than that a job quickly and well done!

Jay transformed my front area into a beautiful creation with colorful flowers. He took the hard, nasty clay and turned in into beautiful soil. That in itself was very impressive. I chose not to use mulch, the soil was that pretty! Jay was very professional, communicates well and got the job done pretty quickly. I would highly recommend him. I will use him again for future projects. **I tried to upload before and after pictures but they wouldn’t load**

Jay came to our house at the stated time expected. He removed some limbs and trimmed others from two large Pin oak trees in our front yard. He also removed two large Ivy bushes next to our front steps and took out two Crepe Myrtle trees on the side of our home. Jay and his crew were prompt and thorough, doing exactly what we asked him to do and finishing with a complete cleanup of any debris. We expect to have him back next year for some follow-up work and would recommend him to anyone. P.S. He also explained a lot to us about maintaining the life of our trees and knows his business. I would like to recommend DeSalvo Tree Service of Greensboro - Jay DeSalvo 336-264-4924. After taking numerous recommendations and trying to set up estimates from other tree service companies I chose Jay. Jay came out the same day and gave a very competitive quote. He said he could start tomorrow. The following day when I got home my yard had tree limbs piled in neat piles. The following day all debri was gone and the job had been completed. I noticed same work I wanted improved and he returned the next day and completed going over my concerns. Competive, timely, honest, communicates well and you would never know he was here by the cleanliness. Thoroughly satisfied.

I rented a boom lift thinking I could take down a few trees between my house and the neighbors and after being up 50 some feet changed my mind quickly. So i contacted Jay the following morning after deciding it was a bad idea for me to attempt such a project. He showed up within an hour and took down the trees in no time. Very professional and would recommend anyone looking for such service. Reasonable priced and super impressed on how they brought them to the ground in such a tight place.

Jay got back with me right away. He gave me an estimate and his crew started work the following morning. They cut down a 30’ maple tree and removed the stump and exposed roots. Work was completed same day. Clean up was very good. All limbs and branches, large and small, were picked up. I will definitely use them again for tree work.
