About us
Genuine Italian craftsmanship from the days of old. I specialize in field stone, granite, and tile but I also do minor tree removal, painting, and stucco.The De Virgilio's came to Dedham in 1912 and made a living off gardening, masonry, and carpentry. The family had such success that their work is spread all over Massachusetts and a few other New England states such as Maine and New Hampshire. The work we employ is passed down from our ancestors in Italy, especially our masonry, almost always using field stones with precision alignment and balance from the bottom up. Landscaping is another one of our other ancient trades dating back to the 1500's, our style is making Italian renaissance gardens creating grottoes, fountains, patios, walkways, and clean up, all adding to the aesthetic beauty of your lawn. The men working for us have finely honed skills that were forged from decades of work, training, and practice. When ever you're ready, we will be there! Spero di sentire da voi presto!

Extremely happy with the work. We were getting house refinanced, and bank appraiser wasn't happy with the condition of the bulkhead. So we were in a jam and needed to fix the bulkhead which was admittedly in really rough shape. Joe came to the rescue. Within a day he was on the job with great results including sanding and repainting the bulkhead metal. He even went above and beyond and repointed our stone house foundation at no extra charge!

Responsive, professional, knowledgeable. I called Joe to repair my concrete steps and re-point my chimney. He came over promptly after we made contact and we consulted about the work and also about my basement. Joe was just super knowledgeable and helped me make some decisions about the house. We scheduled the work and he did a great job. His pricing was very reasonable. Highly recommended.

How did a great job. He came out and gave us a quote, but once he opened up our brick stairs, if became clear there were bigger issues. He did a good job communicating the issues and presenting options to complete the job. He also worked through a holiday and the weekend to get the job done as quickly as possible.

We contacted Joe Devirgilio of Devirgilio Masonry to discuss our options and ideas. My experience with Joe was very positive and encouraging. He was prompt and professional as he examined the work needed to be done. His estimate was well within our budget and we agreed to have him perform the work. Communication with him was excellent as he responded quickly to phone calls and texts. The work took several days and he arrived when he was scheduled. He repaired and replaced the necessary bricks on our front steps to our satisfaction! He also repaired and replaced the necessary the bricks and concrete on our backyard steps leading to the basement door. He applied a stucco finish and made the steps safe to use again! We were very satisfied with the finished work! He is a hard working man and easy to be around. He has a pleasant personality and a fine sense of humor. My wife and I were very happy with the work he performed and would definitely hire him again in the future.

Good at first. But part of the repair fell apart over the winter. Joe said he would guarantee his work. Called Joe several times & left messages but no response.

Joe was called upon to replace the front steps to my parents house. Not only did he repair and replace the front steps beautifully, he tackled obstacles that we didn’t even know were there. The steps came out amazing and are unlike any on our street or that I’ve ever seen for that matter. Not only is Joe a terrific stone mason, he is an artist and can make beautiful constructs to fit whatever you may need.

Joe was the consummate professional. He responded to my inquiry quickly and showed up to my home promptly for a free estimate. His price was reasonable, and he was available more quickly than other tree service providers. The work was excellent for a tricky situation with one tree leaning up against another, and his professionalism was outstanding. I would definitely hire Joe again.

Very pleased with the whole job. He was prompt, professional, and the work still looks great after this past winter. Based on several quotes the brick repair was complex, however Devirgilio Masonry did it for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend and will definitely be using them again soon!

The tree was lodged in between 2 other big trees. Joe figured out the best way to get it down safely. He then cut it into 2-3 foot sections, so that it will be able to be chopped into firewood after the snow melts. He was pleasant, efficient, and did a great job for us!

It went great. Joe was vey responsive throughout the process. Came and gave a quote and once we agreed on proceeding be was very responsive. He checked in the week before the job to confirm we were still on and showed up as planned. He did a great job and left the area nice and clean.
