HORRIBLE . At first he worked fast , but then he had guys in there not knowing what they were doing . The job was NEVER fully finished . He charges us 40,000 and still the jobs are not finished in full . The baseboards have paint running down , he only did one coat on the white doors installed , the trim for the floor was not completed . He had a plumber leak through my ceiling that came crashing down . Horrible horrible work . He is now asking for the remainder 4,000 that he says we owe him but he never finished the job …

Overall, this was a disappointment, and I'm left to pick up the pieces to make this project (and by extension, my house) look correctly finished. The job was to re-frame the floor underneath my fireplace hearth, re-drywall the ceiling in the basement where the framing was done, then tile the hearth floor and fireplace facade. I was impressed at how quickly Diagonal Interiors was able to get to my project, and my field manager, Kofi, is a genuinely nice person--I enjoy him. And he was very kind to my 2-yr old. As work commenced, I spotted concerns in the framing, how it wasn't as secure as could/should be. That was addressed quickly. But other basement/framing/finishing problems remained: an area of drywall un-mudded; un-sanded or poorly sanded plaster; grease, dirt, and hand prints left all over my walls and ceiling, left for me to cover up with Kilz before I paint. It was only at my commenting that they replaced crown moulding where they re-drywalled. Also, when mudding, the team never covered my floor for protection. This left debris and dust everywhere in the carpet, and splotches of dried mortar. The tile facade on the fireplace was the big let down. The Schluter tile trim was not mitered when installed, and the first attempt at the facade tile was bad. Both were fully removed to do over, this time adding a layer of mortar leveling to make the surface more flat. The second go at tile was better, enough for me to sign off on so the project could wrap up, but clearly not perfect as some other tilers may demand of themselves. The tiler, however, grouted in the fire box, and so now multiple layers of high-heat paint will be required because their first coat went matte on the grout, where as the rest of the paint maintains its eggshell finish. Upon re-tiling over the leveled mortar, however, the left side of the facade has a flanged taper to it, and so the reveal is not straight/flush with the floor as it should be. The tile job of the hearth in the floor left grout in between my hardwood floor planks, will need touched up. To touch up the hardwood floor chewed up by the demo and tile install, the crew used Minwax oil-based floor stain, which now is in my grout. The newly laid tile was never covered for protection. So I now have to clean and touch up the grout and clean the Schluter trim on the floor. When the high-heat paint was applied, the tile being not fully covered, splatters of black paint ended up on the new tile hearth floor. I was left to clean that off, seeing it only after it had dried. Also, the white-painted mantle that surrounds the tile facade was damaged during reno. I have been left to touch up the chipped white paint and clean off mortar from messy hands to bring my mantle back to a properly finished look. Communication on arrival times and days was haphazard at best (though better than other contractors I've dealt with), often driven by own prompting and inquiry. Prior to signing up with Diagonal Interiors, I was told crews would be present 9-5. That didn't happen a single day. I did appreciate their use of technology for scheduling, and Kofi was prompt to reply via text. My complaints prior to final payment were addressed with a $300 credit. I was also reimbursed for material I purchased myself (should be expected). They also did send in some cleaning ladies who cleaned my whole first floor and basement, a very nice touch. I was told they always do that, but in my complaint e-mail, it was mentioned that was an above-and-beyond thing that was done for me, so not sure. At the end of the day, I'm left with lots of touch ups, two spots needing more plaster, sanding, painting, and a tile job with a surface that has a weird angle to it--the second one put on. But at some point, you just have to move on and get them out of your house. Would not recommend for hire.

Great, service was professional and the remodeling of the bathroom was done beyond my expectations.

I had a contract with Diagonal Interior to do two floors: one hardwood floor on 1st floor and another one vinyl planks in the basement. It was done very professionally. Mr Cheny, the owner, is very polite and very helpful. The job was done in a timely fashion and was beyond expectations. I will recommend Diagonal Interior to anyone with out any hesitation. It’s a trustworthy company. Thank you

They did an excellent job! They were here on time completed the work quickly and efficiently. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to do a remodel.

Cheny with diagonal interiors was supposed to renovate 2 bathrooms and a basement. He started by saying he did not cut corners and he cut corners the whole way. He stated the project would be done in 2 weeks and 1 bathroom was not even complete. He would demolish a room and beg for more money because he knew he had us over a barrel. His workers could not communicate with us and had to be watched almost every step of the way. They would work for a few hours but create 8 hours of mess. Long story short he charged us 34000 dollars and left us with a bathroom shower floor that leaks and basement that now leaks water due to beams he had installed as well as electrical out hanging out exposesd done completely incorrect creating a fire hazard. If anyone had any questions or wants to get together for a lawsuit please comment on this post and get ahold of me. I think about this poor workmanship everyday and how much stress this has put on my family. We are literally out thousands of dollars. This clearly not a false review I have pictures of his company logo on water bottles as well as bottles of urine his co workers left in my house. I strongly recommend people think twice before using this common thief and all around dishonest person. I also want to add that Cheny the owner installed 20000$ worth of basement beams and did not tie them in correctly then covered them up with drywall knowing and being ok with the project done incorrectly.

I highly recommend Diagonal Interiors LLC The estimate was done by the owner and he stayed right on target. They crew is very skilled. They were efficient, responsive and easy to communicate with. Our bathroom and kitchen looks amazing! It feels like we are in a brand new house.

Horribly Wrong: 1. The company does not have Licenses, bond or insurance to cover the nature of job hired to perform. The owner will promise but deliver none upon request. 2. No formal written contract providing stipulations of the agreement. They will make you accept an estimate online instead and then proceeding with payment. The company does not provide any signed contract though the owner states they do. 3. The company has Zero regard for client’s property- They broke my bed- head and footboard, they lay their working tools on the furniture without putting coverings to protect the surfaces. No painting covering on the furniture to prevent paint splashes. The company is not equipped or prepared to work in an occupied property. 4. No knowledge of paint job preparation. I have a strip of paint on the carpet from painting the baseboards and trash cans, using my kitchen cleaning supplies. They do not clean after themselves. No vacuum or tools to perform work hired for. 5. Kitchen cabinet demolished but could not follow instruction to salvage the cabinets. 6. Using drywall mud for wood door flames. 7. No corking wood flames before painting 8. Communication breakdown- No clear stipulation as to the timeline of job start / completion, nature of material to be used in the project or where the company is purchasing the material and the order of tackling tasks ( I was not given clear heads up about kitchen demolition or order of your tasks in respect to other areas in order to clear way for your staff and prep accordingly). I had dirty dishes in the dishwasher! 9. The company does not have enough manpower or resources to move heavy furniture (I purchased sliders for the one employee you sent on 11/12/20 to assist with moving furniture). Not equipped to work in an occupied property. 10. The company will demand that one provide them with a house key or around the clock access even after you tell the will give them away to access to the property when needed. I was not comfortable at all with the demand especially because the workers or employers do not provide ID’s. 11.The employees are not trained about protecting themselves or others against COVID-19. The left used facial mask on my bookshelf and trash. 12. As the date of writing this review 11/27/20, the Company is in receipt of $4500.00. I reached the owner on 11/14/20 terminating contract. He responded 11/20/20 indicating that it will take 90 days to determine if I am entitled to a refund. Mind you my kitchen is demolished; hence he is holding hostage money for material and labor to remodel my kitchen. 13. Based on Secretary of State website Diagonal Interiors, LLC started in 8/2018 did business as RMS started in 2016. RMS is reviewed in BBB as “Dishonest” Company that may explain why it was closed. As of time 11/27/20 I am posting this review the Company has changed the phone number on their website. Note Photos of stated grievances are attached. I would love for me the last customer that Diagonal Interiors is defrauding. Thank you, Angie’s list, for helping filter your platform to be used by contractor who understand integrity and quality. Edit: Horrible! This writing is in response to Diagonal Interiors, LLC response that I was racist and abusive to the company's employees in respect to review dated 11/26/20. My questions him: Is it possible to be racist to a person(s) whom you share the same color of skin? Does being a racist justify non performance/ underperformance on of the provisions of the contract on Mr. Cheney end? and further retaining $4500 without delivering either goods or services as agreed the contractual agreement? It is ironic that I hired Mr. Cheney because I viewed him as very aspiring young black man who was out there to contradict the norms. I was very wrong!!! Please do not make the same mistake. At the minimum do your due diligence.

He did a good job and I liked him. He is very conscientious. Everything is good and I would recommend him.
