This has been a very poor experience. It has been one issue after another, leading to a final product that is not just poor quality, but actively hazardous. Here is a general summary of issues, which is not exhaustive. We can provide a more comprehensive list on request. 1. The contractor misrepresented the quality of the red oak hardwood we purchased through him as "Select" grade, where the invoice clearly states it is "#1 Common". 2. The contractor did not install appropriate subfloor, leading to significant unevenness in our floor. Where subfloor was installed, it was particle board, but represented via email as plywood. Particle board attracts moisture and is not recommended for any construction. 3. Flooring panels were installed parallel to home joists as opposed to perpendicular. This is a foundational issue for flooring, as the wood panels do not have appropriate support. 4. The hardwood panels were stained and finished improperly, leaving to significant texture and aesthetic issues 5. The quarter round installed was consistently cracked and not joined correctly. 6. Damage was done to our hardwood floors by their not being properly protected and having tools fall down them. We observed the tools falling down, and later noticed both scratches and dents in our stairs (these were not a part of the project). The largest dent was filled with wood putty. We brought up our concerns multiple times, and each time only small aesthetic changes were made. We brought up our concerns around the unevenness and lack of proper subflooring in particular via email; The contractor chose to ignore this email and proceed with the installation. When we followed up, he said it was too late to redo, and he assumed we didn't want it because it would have been more money. In summary, he made a decision for us. When we brought up the issue around the Quarter rounds we were told that fixing those issues were "the painter's job" and that he would not do anything to address it. After the flooring was installed it was already starting to buckle one week later; in particular the nose piece on the stair had already separated from the rest of the flooring, creating a hazard. We had multiple flooring and real estate professionals inspect the work, and they all said it was a rushed, unprofessional job, that the flooring was not safe to use long term, and that the work needed to be redone. We reached out to the contractor in good faith and asked for a refund of the contract and to be reimbursed for the price to fix our stairs. They replied saying they were open to doing some surface-level aesthetic fixes, but not much more.

Bryan and his crew took great care with our softwood fir refinishing and new solid hardwood installation project. They were very punctual, polite and professional, and really went the extra mile to make certain we were informed of all project details while moving through to completion. The job was done on time and and on budget. Needless to say, we are extremely satisfied with the results, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bryan to others for their flooring projects!
