Not well. They completed the kitchen remodel but it certainly wasn't completed as agreed upon. I would give the remodel a 5 out of 10. The landscaping was much worse. I could have completed what little they did. I would give a 2 out of a 10. The owner, Semorris Anderson, seems to go by the name of Dirt. When I tried to talk with him about properly completing the work he became belligerent. I want others to know of my experience before working with Semorris.

My husband and I hired Dirt Cheap in April 2015 to install a new patio in our back yard as well as trim a up a large oak tree. In the two contracts we signed, Mr. Semorris Anderson, (who calls himself "Dirt") listed several jobs they claimed they would be doing. Aside from removing the concrete slab in the back yard, none of the other jobs were done properly, and several not done at all. Our patio ended up looking awful. Awful enough for the neighbors to comment on how terrible their work was. The pavers they installed were loose and had large gaps in between and the dirt was never compacted or leveled. When we walked out the back door, there was nothing but sand. As for the tree trimming services we were promised, they did nothing more than cut off 2 branches. In the contract we signed, several items listed were never done. We voiced our concerns regarding the work they did, as well as reminded Mr. Anderson that there were several items listed on the contracts that were not completed.
After several calls and a few "no-call, no show" incidents, we were finally able to get Dirt and his crew over for a second time. We pointed out our concerns and were told the issues would be resolved. My husband actually had to tell Dirt and crew that the area needed compacted and leveled, as the first time they came out they had none of the supplies needed to do either.
After they "finished" the second time, the pavers were still not properly installed. There are still large gaps that were never filled with the sand. As a matter of fact, there are now weeds growing up in between the pavers. Any reputable landscaping/contracting company could take one look at the work Dirt Cheap did and laugh.
We have given this business several chances to resolve the situation and make things right, but unfortunately they are not willing. Their lack of customer service and unprofessional business practices are unacceptable, to say the least. We invested a lot of time and money putting our trust in Dirt Cheap and we got completely ripped off.
Also, I might add that with further investigation, I found that they are NOT accredited by the BBB as they advertise, and we have already filed a complaint. Furthermore, they were indeed (somehow) recipients of a 2012 Angie's List Super Service Award and are using that emblem to advertise their services. They have since been removed from Angie's List in 2013 for subpar ratings and non-payment of advertising fees. I believe they are using these agencies to their benefit themselves by misleading customers. When I see a business is accredited by the BBB or rated highly on Angie's List, I am trusting the business I hire to do the job properly, efficiently, and with respect for the customer. I would expect the business to resolve any issues that are unsatisfactory to the customer. Dirt Cheap did none of these.

When they came out the first time, they didn't bring string, a level, or even a tape measure. They basically removed the concrete, threw the stone down and left. There were several components written up in the patio contract that were ignored. They were there until after 11pm, which seemed odd to me. It was almost like they were just in a hurry to get the job done and move on to whatever "job" they had lined up next. We also had a contract written regarding a large oak tree in the back yard. The tree was supposed to have 6 limbs cut down, be trimmed up, receive a "treatment" spray, and a "tree sealer, to help with growth," as he wrote in the contract. Only 2 limbs were cut down and the tree was never tended to again.

As for the patio, it ended up looking awful. Awful enough for the neighbors to comment on how terrible their work was. The pavers they installed were loose, uneven, and had large gaps in between and the dirt was never compacted or leveled. When we walked out the back door, there was nothing but sand. As for the tree trimming services we were promised, they did nothing more than cut off 2 branches. In the contracts we signed, several items listed were never done. We voiced our concerns regarding the work they did pointed out to Mr. Anderson that there were still several items listed on the contracts that were not completed.

After that, I tried calling them repeatedly, just hoping they would come out and correct what had been done wrong and finish the work properly. After 2 weeks of making several unreturned calls and a few "no-call, no show" incidents, they came back for a second time. I told them that the area needed leveled, compacted, and that they would need more sand, gravel, and pavers to lay before the work would be done properly and be acceptable. They just picked up the pavers up insufficiently compacted the dirt (after I had to tell them repeatedly that the dirt needed compacted.) I felt like I had to supervise their work, yet I was the one paying them for their services.

We then arranged for them to come out for a third time, giving them another chance to fix the problems. Nobody showed up, and after several calls, we finally reached their "office manager." I was told that Mr. Anderson would not be providing his worker with any of the supplies needed to complete the job-that I would be responsible for purchasing the needed materials. He also stated that the worker would not be compensated for returning to our home to finish the work. At that point, I told the office manager to cancel our service and that we would be seeking assistance in getting our money back.

We have yet to receive a response from Dirt Cheap, LLC. I might also add that this company is falsely advertising its affiliation with the BBB, of which in fact, they are not affiliated with. They are also advertising with an "2012 Angie's List Super Service Award Recipient" emblem. I did confirm with an Angie's List associate that this was indeed true, however that this business has since been removed from Angie's List for subpar ratings and failure to pay advertising fees. I feel that Dirt Cheap is using those agencies to their benefit and it certainly misleads customers. Customers see the Angie's List and BBB affiliations as good signs. Signs that the company they hire is trustworthy and will do great work, when in this case the opposite was true.

We have given this business several chances to resolve the situation and make things right, but unfortunately they are not willing. Their lack of customer service and unprofessional business practices are unacceptable, to say the least. We invested a lot of time and money putting our trust in Dirt Cheap and we got completely ripped off.
They did the job but left the root. He then said it would be another 75.00 to remove the root. I reluctantly agreed to this and they said they come back to remove it. When he was supposed to come back later, he did not show up. For the next two weeks I tried to called them to get them back out but they kept making excuses. I called the owner about this but his vm was full. After three days I finally got him on the phone and I explained there was a miscommunication on the overall price but I was willing to pay the difference to get this done. They have yet to finish the job and I am still in need to be able to plant a new tree in it's place.

It went horribly wrong. The first issue that we had was with the gentleman that came to bid the job, bid the job too low. After the owner came out to take a look at the work that was to be done he informed us that we in fact had work which added an additional $500 to the contract we had already signed. I told them that I would be willing to split this additional fee down the middle for $250 because it was their mistake.

While attempting to remove a stump, they accidentally cut my phone line (which was an issue they did rectify), and the phone company was able to fix this the next day. After completion of the work, we found some inconsistencies in the fence line including gaps and uneven areas. Additionally they did not remove a stump that we had discussed as part of the job. They have never come back after "completion" to rectify the issues that still exist with the job that I have already payed in full.

I'm just dissapointed. I was assured I would be taken care of and a satisfied customer, and to be frank I have been anything but satisfied and taken care of.

Quality of work was good. Quality of customer service and respect for the personal and professional time of customers was terrible. Mr. Anderson's team was expected to be at my property on several different occasions this year to provide quotes and plans of exterior lighting and landscaping. Times and dates were set with his "Operations Manager", as well as another young lady who answers the phone. On the first missed appointment, I scheduled myself out-of-the-office for an entire afternoon so as to be available at the property for what should have been a fairly lengthy walkthrough. Nobody showed. I called the office several times, being told someone would call me back immediately. Finally I received a call that the team had been called away to an "emergency" where a tree had fallen, and would try to come out later. This communication was received 2 hours after their scheduled time, and after many calls on my part. I ended up taking an entire afternoon off from work, having no quote done, and having nobody come out later either.

Last year, we had Dirt Cheap come out to our property to remove some shrubs. Again, they were no-shows on the first date and time scheduled, due to another "emergency" where a tree had fallen. They were several hours late on the second time scheduled as well, without providing a call to me advising of the fact that they were behind schedule and causing me to lose additional time at work.

The latest instance of poor customer service and lack of professional courtesy was in late March of 2014. Mr. Anderson was supposed to send me a message with pictures and prices of different landscaping available for our project, and promised while he was on-site that he would have it to us "tonight at the latest". Two weeks later, we still had not received a thing from him despite several phone calls being made. Mr. Anderson was made well aware of our frustrations with his and his team's lack of professionalism, and we even told him that we almost felt like we were "trying to hand you our money by continuing to give you chances, and you refuse to take it because you keep making the same customer service mistakes over and over again". Unfortunately, Mr. Anderson does not seem to realize that he is in a customer service industry, and must show concern and courtesy to them. Poor communication, lack of follow-up, disregard for other's schedules and needs, and an overall lack of professional courtesy are the first things that come to mind regarding his outfit. Mr. Anderson and his team are well-mannered, and carry themselves professionally while in the presence of a customer...the only problem is actually getting them in your presence.

I called two other companies for estimates, and both of them - good companies, and ones I had used before - would have charged me 1200 to 1500 dollars to come take care of the situation. I was a young, broke homeowner, and this was well outside my budget. To make matters worse, neither company thought they would be able to make it out for at least five or six days as they were booked up. I worried the giant limb would knock down the fence before then. In desperation, I called Mr. Dirt Cheap. Blue Anderson, the owner, came out extremely promptly and met with me personally. He's a very nice and charismatic guy, and he agreed that the problem should be taken care of right away. He mulled it over for a while, and ended up quoting me a price less than a third of what his competitors were charging. It almost seemed too good to be true, but I had little choice, so I agreed to let him do the work. Out of respect for the urgency of the situation, Mr. Anderson came out that evening to start on the work, and finished the job less than 24 hours after I first called him. His crew seemed to work together very well. They deftly removed the giant limb from where it was perched above the fence, causing no damage at all. They took down the entire tree and carted off all the lumber, leaving a pile of mulch at my request so that I could use it to line my walkways in the back yard. All of this was despite the yard being surrounded by a privacy fence, with a carport that blocked them from having any easy access with large machinery or their truck. This was a difficult job, and the workers and Mr. Anderson completed it quickly and happily and showed real pride in their work. Towards the end of the job, Mr. Anderson came to ask me what to do about some large tree roots that it had been impossible to see before the stump was ground down. These were obviously trip hazards and stopped me from doing much with that part of the yard. He seemed almost embarrassed that he wouldn't be able to grind the roots for the same price he had quoted me. He made sure that I didn't think he was trying to upsell me at the last second. After too many experiences like that, I was not at all worried about it. He offered to do the grinding for an extra fifty, but I was so pleased with the work I offered fifty more than he asked, and asked him to share some with his workers as I was truly grateful for the work he did.
To this day, I keep his card around and recommend him to anyone I know. Thanks again, Mr. Anderson!
Mr. Anderson is a problem solver. When other comapies said there was no way they could do the job. Mr. Anderson found a way at a very reasonable price. He was friendly and professional as were his crew members who showed up to do the job. I called him on a Friday and asked him if he could do the job. He said that he would be here later in the day to look at the area in our yard. However, he didn't show up that day. I called him back on the following Monday and he apologized for not comimg by or letting me know. I understand that time frames can sometimes be iffy in the tree removal and landscape business due to weather, but a call would have been nice. Mr. Anderson apologized for not getting back with us. He then was very good with follow-up and follow-through. The work was completed by Tuesday. I will definitely use this company again because they were found a way to efficiently get the job done at a very reasonable price. Thanks Dirt Cheap LLC.

They came three hours later than they said they would arrive. They did the trimming in less then one hour. The trimming was not very good. One of the trees were not trimmed around the top. I will have to have the trees trimmed again next year and will use someone else. They were low priced, but not professional tree trimmers. Several years ago, I had Carmel/Broadripple Tree Service trim them and they did a good job!
I emailed this company to see if I could get some yard waste that I had hauled away. Within 24 hours I had a call back and they were on their way out to take a look. Mr. Anderson quoted me a price and said he would be out tomorrow to pick it all up. This was most likely a misunderstanding on my part, but I thought he said he would be out first thing in the morning. I did have to call to find out when they would be out, but I will say that he was apologetic and was out within an hour. Mr. Anderson is extremely friendly and professional. While there he looked over my backyard and said what he could do for me to make it look the way we want it to. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants someone out that seems to enjoy what they do and does it with a smile on their face!

They removed them, ground the stump down on the largest tree cleaned out every little blade or stick remaining on the lawn and driveway. It almost looked cleaner than before they started work! The price was reasonable for what they did, but, more importantly, they did a professional job. I'm talking to them about replacing the dead tree in my front yard in the fall.

My neighbor was having some trees taken out and since I needed work done as well, I talked with Mr. Anderson about looking at my trees and giving me an estimate. He and his workers were extremely polite and very professional in looking at my trees and giving me advice. We decided on a plan of action and he followed through perfectly.
His crew was right on time this morning, took care of a very large tree without damaging anything around it, ground the stump and hauled off all the refuge, leaving my yard clean and tidy. They even took out some plants ahead of time so they wouldn't get damaged and then replanted them once the stump had been ground up.
I would use this company again and would highly recommend them - which I have already done - to my friends and neighbors.

Mr. Anderson is very responsive to his customers. He runs a quality business and goes the extra mile to make sure the customer is happy. He responded timely to my request for a quote. It seemed reasonable so we set a date for the work to be done. He was not on the worksite that day so I monitored the work. When I called with a concern he redirected his employees to make it right. He personally took care of my concern. The landscaping looks great and is ready for our open house to rent the property!
