Eric was awesome! Super responsive, punctual, and was even able to squeeze part of the project in before the actual start date, so that my patio could be finished in time for 4th of July. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat.

Erik was a pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate to use him again or to recommend him to others. Erik was very professional, working the schedule we'd agreed to and constantly keeping us updated on his progress. He was very meticulous about his work and went "above and beyond" to make sure the project looked fantastic and met our needs and our vision for the project. Each day, he thoroughly cleaned up after work was completed and he made sure all exposed soils were stabilized and covered. He also always used plywood and tarps to protect our driveway and property, so that none of our premises were damaged in any way. He replaced and re-cut several wall blocks when he felt they didn't look as good as they should. We greatly appreciated Erik's hard work, constant attention to detail, and desire and effort to make the project look beautiful. We are very pleased with the end result.

Erik came and gave a very good quote on what essentially was an emergency situation with the drainage around the house. He got started right away and finished quickly. Our nightmare is over thanks to him. I've never received such prompt and well done service by someone who was so professional and effcient.

I have worked with Erik for a number of years. As always, I find him to be professional, punctual, knowledgeable, and always operating on the highest level of integrity. The project started and ended on schedule. When an unforeseen cost came up, we worked it out and Erik "made it right". He has a great rapport with the inspectors and neighbors, which is very important in removing barriers to keeping a project on target. He is organized and efficient. Constantly working on task and focused. He is easy to work with. Despite his depth of knowledge he is open to different approaches and will listen intently to your questions or concerns. The final product is as good as it gets, the price is always fair.

Everything went very well. The excavator was dropped off on the weekend to be available on the day of the project. Initially, Eric said that he thought he would to the work but he had Marcos do it instead.
The team took a lot of care not to drive the excavator on the asphalt to avoid damaging the road.
Marcos started by removing the trees. Yanking fairly large alders out of the ground was entertaining to watch. One larger one was right at the capacity of the machine but he took his time and worked it down. Alder is tricky because, being very soft wood, it can break and sheer off with some danger to the operator.
The trees took the majority of the time on the project because Marcos was very methodical and didn't rush things. The slash pile he created was very dense and well structured to not occupy more area than necessary. It took me three weeks to cut, split, and stack the wood and I appreciated doing minimal chainsaw work down in the dirt.
After the trees were removed he graded the land and then used the head of the excavator to form a very smooth gradient. I am impressed by how smooth and well contoured the yard is now.
Simply put, Eric and his men are GREAT. Here's why:
COMMUNICATION:
- When I initially called Eric & left a message requesting a bid, he returned the call himself that night.
- He was honest about his scheduling. None of this "I can do it right away" and then delaying after getting a deposit. He told us he was booked until the end of September (this was mid-August), but would move us up if there were cancellations for weather-dependent jobs.
- Eric broke down the cost of each item we wanted done on his bid so we could prioritize which jobs we could afford now and which ones to do at a later date.
- When the weather delayed another job, he called us and was able to move us up a week on his schedule just as promised.
- When we added taking down two hedges and a dying tree after the first day, Eric worked those items into the job so we didn't have to wait longer to get them down.
- Eric showed up at the worksite each day to check that all was going ok and we didn't have any questions.
THE WORK ITSELF
- Eric's crew was ON TIME and PREPARED all 7 days they were at the house. The weather was atrocious, but the crew was still pleasant and worked their butts off.
- The guys were exceedingly clean and conscientious about how they left our property. All debris was hauled away and when a storm hit after removing the spruce and hedges, they covered the holes with weighted tarps so the rain wouldn't cause erosion under the driveway or yard. (they filled in the holes the next day)
- the French drain looks terrific and has stopped major drainage issues on one side of the house.
FINAL COMMENTS
We plan to have Dirt Pros come back next spring to work on some drainage issues in our back yard and along the front walk. My only regret about the job is that we didn't have the budget to have ALL of our soil amended in our backyard. The area the guys cleared and amended in the raised beds looks fabulous and now the other side of the yard is rather pathetic by comparison!

At first I was extremely disappointed. Eric, the owner and person who bid the project and did the work , worked on the wrong part of the driveway even though I told him over the phone and emailed him and wrote a note to him with the check that said exactly where the work was to be done. He was courteous with me though I was understandably upset. The original work that he did made the matter worse than before and the area he worked on was not necessary to be fixed compared to the area I had requested he fix. He came out and for an additional $200 did the first unrequested job better so that it was an improvement from the first time he worked on it. Then he went ahead and did the job he should have done in the first place. It was done well but I have my suspicions that with it already showing dents by cars tires that the job may not last through next summer. I had asked for a 5 to 10 year fix. Lastly, he had offered 5% off on $1000 and this project cost me $1095 but he wouldn't offer a discount. Said he already had more into the project than he was collecting.

I initially contacted Erik of Dirt Pros in early July and he arrived when he said he would for the estimate. The estimate sounded good so I had Erik email the proposal for signature. He said it would be about 3 weeks and that was fine with us. Erik came yesterday 7/30 and delivered the topsoil and created the bed with mounds. I was not home, but left a copy of the architect's rendering. A couple of tweaks were needed, so I emailed Erik and he came out today and made the corrections. An excellent experience from start to finish.
Erik at DirtPros was a great choice...I needed to remove about 5 yards of dirt that had too much clay in it, and he was willing to take on this small project. Reason's why I like Erik at DirtPros:
1. Easy to communicate with, either by phone, text or email. He's straight forward, no hidden costs. It's simple things like asking questions about what you want the end vision to be that are helpful to set expectations. It also helped me trust him...too often I've had contractors that you're not sure if they understood you.
2. Good price.
3. Worked with my schedule. I work during the week, and he came out and I was able to tell him what I wanted to do over the phone.
4. Flexible. On the day we removed the dirt, I wanted to remove a little more that I thought.
I highly recommend him!

I have to say Erik is amazing to work with!
First of all he is upfront with the costs, for our project he provided a price per square foot which he stuck with throughout the several modifications we made to the scope of the project. It made calculating any changes we wanted simple. I can say he is the ONLY contractor that we have had hired during our home remodel whose final bill was exactly what we were expecting, no surprise extra fees or unexpected overrun costs.
Secondly, he and all his staff were always very polite, professional, organized and knowledgeable. They were very respectful of my home and property and kept the jobsite unbelievably clean, especially considering they were working with dirt and stone. Erik is very approachable and I felt comfortable asking him all types of questions related to the project. He never makes you feel like your bothering him or wasting his time, and is incredibly prompt at returning emails or phone calls.
Lastly, he stands by his work. When our project was completed Erik explained that over the next year(s) we may see some shifting in the rock and to let him know of any issues. When this spring we noticed a section had shifted a bit more than we had expected we emailed Erik. He replied to our email that night and was out to inspect the area in the next few days and within a week the portion of wall was restacked and looking great again.
I would (and have) recommended him to anyone who is looking for a retaining wall or patio installation.

It is not my day job, but I have built several homes and know that I spend a good chunk of my concern and budget on the earth work. It is why I researched and interviewed so many before deciding on Erik from Dirt Pros and that time and energy paid off! It wasn't an easy job... sadly it proved to be unbelievably difficult because the geotech gave us an erroneous report on what kind of soil we could expect below--as soon as we started digging Erik threw up the caution flag. The hillside started sluffing with million dollar homes above! The geotech said oops, sorry and said he'd need a week or so to fix his mistake. Erik realizing the danger I was in immediately set out to shore up the hillside and I am grateful everyday for his knowledge and expertise. You don't think about how things can go sideways when you open up the earth, but on this project it did-- Erik saved my bacon. Once we got back on stable ground so to speak, things went really well. Several times along the project Erik and his crew went above and beyond for me. For instance, the concrete truck pulled out of our lot and had mud all over the street, it could have cost me a fine but Erik cleaned it up and asked me to remind the other subs to keep the inspectors happy by not doing that sort of thing. For me, trust is really big-- I run into so many slimy guys in this business-- I trust Erik, everything he said accurate and while several contractors tried to pull one over on me-- he would never try-- he would never think of it. I want to think of something to be critical of, but I'm not coming up with anything. Oh, I have something, one of my neighbors is a pain in the butt-- I would have loved to be a pain in her neck, but even she loved Dirt Pros--and collectively my neighbors were a tough crowd to please during construction!
He made sure the drainage surpassed what was needed, every block was straight and level, every rock placed perfectly, he offered suggestions I loved and every date he gave me- he hit or was ahead of schedule! Ahhh if only all the subs I hired were like Erik! After I used him for one home, I hired him for the next house I built-- and will again for a 3rd home that is in the planning stages now. I search a long time for subs like Dirt Pros and I am grateful when I do... now having said that, I still bid out the second project to other subs, but ended up hiring him because his price was the best and he included more, or things others weren't-- or worse knew needed to be done and didn't bring up.. For anyone who is in search of excellence, I suggest you hire Dirt Pros for your project.

I contacted Dirt Pros for an estimate in late March. He wasn't able to get out to do the estimate for almost a week, but his price was the best of the three I had (the others didn't include placement of the new sod and even with this, Erik was only slightly more with that service included). His crew showed up on time, performed the work quickly, and remained within budget. My yard now looks great thanks to the work he performed. I wanted to install a sprinkler system myself between the time the old grass was removed and the new sod was installed, and he was very accommodating with that. A few days after I had completed the sprinklers, he was there at 7am laying the sod. He and his guys were very professional, performed very good quality work, and did a good job of cleaning up after they were done. I'd do business with him again.

Erik from Dirt Pros runs a great company! We called Dirt Pros because we
needed to remove some concrete from our backyard, take out some old,
overgrown landscaping features and replace with topsoil and sod. Erik
was prompt in returning my call and came out to look at the property. We
had a quote for the job within 24 hours and the prices were reasonable.
We looked around at a few other companies but ended up hiring Erik due
to his extreme professionalism and attention to detail during the walk
through. His team came out and ended up finishing the entire job in just
2 days!!! Now our backyard is a beautiful oasis of new grass and
perfect for our 3 year old to run around in this summer. Thanks Guys!
This was the most enjoyable experience we've ever had when hiring someone. Erik is a true professional. The work he performed exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Our land started out unlevel and covered in sticker bushes, sucker trees, and about every kind of noxious weed available in the northwest. It is now flat, level, usable and will be beautiful as soon as the grass comes in all the way.
Erik started by taking down all the trees that we wanted removed, including the ones damaged by the ice storm we experienced earlier this year. Brought in an excavator to remove the stumps of these trees as well as some that had been left by a previous owner of the property. The stumps were either buried onsite or moved to strategic locations chosen so they could become "yard art". The land was then cleared and brought to the grade we wanted for our yard. He then used a skidsteer to move 160 yards of topsoil, level and grade it, and compact it down. Then he rototilled, raked, rolled and seeded the dirt for the new lawn. The finished product is amazing. The dirt is so smooth and level that it could be a fairway on a golf course.
He also built 350' of cedar fencing down two sides of the property. Setiing the posts was challenging since we have lots of rocks and roots in the ground to work around. Every post is plumb and level. The fence itself is straight and true along it's entire length. It is built so well that it should last for many, many years.
His assistant, Arturo, built a 50' rock retaining wall that now perfectly outlines a new flower bed.
As I said before Erik is a true professional. His number one priority is to make his customer happy which he did many times over. If we ever need this type of work done again, Dirt Pros is the only company we will be calling.

I needed to have a sewer line installed for our new home. Our home is situated on a challenging parcel (some with 40% grade) and I needed someone that knew what they were doing. Erik is a registered side sewer contractor with the City of Seattle but was not registered with the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District. Erik is one of the few contractors that I have received bids from that proactively responded to my questions and he did so either immediately on the phone or within a few hours if I couldn't reach him when I called. I was so confident in Erik's ability, his responsiveness, and his dedication, that I just knew I wanted him to do the work on my new home. One problem... he wasn't registered with the SPWSD. He voluntarily said that he would be willing to get registered with the District and then he took it upon himself to take all the necessary steps to get registered. He just completed the side sewer installation and I couldn't be more pleased. A beautiful job! He started early in the morning and he stayed until it was late to get the job done. I have nothing but the highest praise for Erik and plan to hire him again for other tasks involving the construction of our new home. If you need someone you can depend on to show up on time, work their rears off for you, and complete the job with the highest degree of professionalism, you need to give Dirt Pros and Erik a call. Once you see his work you'll know for yourself that Dirt Pros is one of the best businesses you will have ever worked with. Give Erik a chance to prove to you that what I have said about his company is true. I honestly believe that you will not be disappointed. Thanks, Erik, for the awesome job!

Dirt Pros arrived on time, as promised, and quickly took care of the work. They were careful to ask me where they could operate the excavator and how I wanted the job finished. Upon completing they carefully smoothed out the site until I was satisfied and swept up the road leaving a clean job site. The work took around an hour or so. Nicely done!

We found Dirt Pros by chance when driving past a local project that they were doing. We were gathering bids and thought we'd give them the chance to bid. Eric was extremely responsive and arrived at the scheduled time. He was thorough in his questioning and had a bid back to us in less than 48 hours. Time we spent with Eric during this process made us really want to use him. When we saw his bid, we felt we had the right person for this job. Eric was the only contractor to press on getting a permit for the sewer work and we are glad that he did. It really gives us peace of mind. We gave Eric a deposit, which made us nervous, but he arrived as scheduled, had his equipment with him, and began to work at an incredible pace. We became immediately confident that he would do a great job. Eric arranged all the materials, equipment, got the permits, knew the City of Seattle inspector (which was obvious during the very quick inspection), and did not cut any corners. I work from my house, so was able to watch most of the work that Dirt Pros did in my back yard. Even though he know I was there, he didn't need to bother me with unnecessary questions. He just got the job done. My wife is extremely fussy about quality of work, so at the end of each day I was nervous that she might find faults that I didn't see. Instead of concerns, she was ecstatic with the daily progress. The accomodating, easy mannerism made it clear to both of us that this was our project, not his. He made it clear that our satisfaction was his goal. Erik's communication using email in the evenings to keep us informed was a tremendous help. I have 438 unread emails in my inbox. There is no way that I would have taken this time to pay for the Angie's List service and write this recommendation unless Dirt Pros had gone over the top to make the job enjoyable at a cost that seems very fair. I can't recommend them high enough. Shoot, my wife has even called people to tell them about Dirt Pros. Eric is solid!

Erik Garcia, owner of Dirt Pros, has shown me that he is, by nature, committed to excellent service. I have come to realize, after having him on my project for sewer, underground power, and a drainage system, that his commitment is as much a part of him as his bones are. He is one of the few contractors I know who has excellent values - and knowledge - and the ability to follow through on the job site. And his commitment shows: Erik is, in my experience, always very organized, knowledgeable, respectful, flexible, and priced fairly; his work has always been of very high quality; in all his work for me, he did all those things which you are supposed to do, but which lots of people let slide; he knows the codes very well and he passed all our inspections the first time. Erik's quality of communication is just as important to me as the quality of his work. He?s quick to reach me by phone and he uses e-mail very well - for materials estimating, his bid, and general communication when it is too early or too late for the phone. Don't let his perfect truck fool you! (When I first saw it, I thought he had never been in a hole.) The truck is perfect because Erik takes care of it the way he takes care of himself, his family, his employees, and his customers. For me, the truck has become a symbol of the way he took great care of every bit of the work that needed to be done on my project.

It went great! Erik from Dirt Pros was on time, provided us with a written estimate, and completed the work within budget. He was friendly and 100% professional. He was also very knowledgeable of local building codes and was careful to do everything within code. He was even careful to schedule the work around our toddler's naptime!
