Discount Tree Service

It went really well. They came out for initial inspection as promissed, and removed the tree 2 days ago without any problems. They even came out next day to finish removing couple of roots that were in the patio area. Everyone was very friendly and polite, and they left work area very clean.

Didn't show the first scheduled time. And showed 2 hours late for the reschedule

No one came to the house to let us know when they arrived.  Midmorning we saw them clearing the area surrounding the transformer, which is behind the house.   We were surprised to see the men, each carrying a load of branches over their shoulder, move the debris from the back of the house around to the front of the house where it was deposited in a long row.  They did not clear the designated area for the 500 gallon propane tank.  They did begin clearing the driveway.  They left one dead tree which was leaning over the driveway, previously marked for removal with an orange tape.  They began to saw it but then stopped leaving it leaning.  They were requested to not  block the drainage pipe running under the driveway.  However so much debris was left on one side that it is impossible to see the drain pipe.  They left some time that afternoon without coming up to the house to tell us they were leaving.  We called Dwight that evening to see when they were planning to return and finish the job.  Especially the removal of the branches left in the front yard;  clearing of the area for the propane tank and completion of the removal of the dead tree leaning over the driveway.  Dwight reiterated the last time it took 3 weeks to have his truck fixed but that "we would be the first people he called when the truck was done."  We mailed a check for $500 in good faith assuming Dwight was returning to finish the job.  We never heard from Dwight again.   My husband wanted to give Dwight the full 3 weeks he indicated it might take for his truck to be repaired before submitting a negative review to Angie's List.  It has now been one month.  The generator installer must coordinate the delivery date with the propane people which cannot be done until there is a cleared area for the propane tank.  We are in our 70's and not able to clear the area for the propane tank nor to chip up all the branches that were dragged into the front yard.  I have photographs of everything described above but do not know how to include them. <br />

Crew was very fast to come out. Professional. Dwight knows how to run his crew. Quick , friendly, very safe, and cleaned up nicely.

They're very well.  They showed up on time and they did exactly what I wanted them to do and cleaned the backyard.

I have used Discount Tree before and been very happy.  They have done some incredibly difficult work such as taking down a 70 year old elm that was inaccessible by cranes and done it for a reasonable price.   <br /> Dwight will quote a price and stick to it, that is great. <br /> When he arrived, I asked him to also remove a lot of sticks and brush that we had trimmed from other areas around the house, and he agreed for an extra $50 - totally a fair price.  His chipper was down, so he and an assistant hauled the stuff up a rather steep hill to load onto his flatbed trailers.  <br /> There are only 2 cautions with using Discount Tree.  <br /> 1.  They are a small operation, and very busy.  It can take a while before they get to your job.  <br /> 2.  They are not great at communicating schedule changes to you. <br /> I disregard those 2 things because of my experience with them; they have always been fair, and fully half of what others have quoted.  <br />

Discount Tree Service did an excellent job. They were very professional and worked very hard. They stacked up all of the left over wood (just as I had requested), for future use in a fireplace. The only small complaint that I had was that they were unable to remove the stump, because their equipment wouldn't fit through the gate in our back yard.
