Distinct Landscapes (Kurt Fritzes) prepared a proposed landscape design and cost. Kurt is easy to work with and provided the expertise and suggested changes that would meet my goals. This design was accomplished quickly and easily. Kurt and his crew did an amazing job executing the agreed upon design! The Distinct landscapes crew are professional, efficient and very dedicated to their job! My wife and I are thrilled with the results and cost. This work took place eleven months ago, but that gives us the ability to say that everything Kurt’s team planted looks great and is growing nicely, except one bush that is struggling, which Kurt agreed to replace without hesitation. We have been in our house for 22 years, and finally got around to replacing the crummy landscaping and walkway the developer put in. Distinct Landscapes installed a paver walkway, and a complete set of bushes, flowers and a crape myrtle tree. The work was done very well and within budget, and the crew distinguished itself by how well they cleaned up the site. The spacing between plantings to allow for future growth seems perfect. Most of all we like Kurt. He is low-key and friendly, offers solid, knowledgeable opinions when asked, and never applies any sort of sales pressure. We would use Distinct Landscapes again, and recommend them without hesitation.

Distinctive Landscaping did a major project behind our house that completely changed the looks of the back yard. We had lived in the house for 32 years and this was a project I had thought about many times, but I had to find the right landscape designer to implement it. Kurt was that person. He listened to my vision and came up with a design which was modified several times until it was ready to go. The area behind the house had erosion problems and he planned a retaining wall that solved this and flowed into a walkway that curved behind the porch and deck. Kurt dropped off samples of stone pavers in different colors and we are very happy with the choice we made. The work began in December, 2017, then had to be delayed because the ground was frozen to a greater depth than in most winters. When the elements allowed work resumed. The crew was exceptional, not hurrying, but doing precision work. We were so pleased that we decided to redo our 22 year old flagstone patio using the same stone pavers. Shrubs were added along part of the walkway. Four shrubs were also planted in the front yard. The work spanned almost three months (mostly due to weather related interruptions) and by Spring, the back yard had a whole new look with a walkway and patio that we could use and enjoy.

Kurt's team did an exceptional job with everything. We had a hard deadline to have the work completed and he delivered. We had a couple bumps with the gas line being extended to the fireplace but it was all worked out in time for our party.

It went great. Kurt came up with a very welcoming design and the crew did a beautiful job on it. Our house looks so much better. Thanks to Kurt and his team at Distinct Landscapes for the superior work at a great price.

It went great. It was a two-day project. The two areas of shrubs near the street looked really nice, but were a little off centered from each other. Kurt had a team come out and ask me how I wanted to rearrange it, and they did. I will be contacting Kurt for additional work in the late summer/early fall. It also helps that he's a seriously nice guy who is very easy to talk with.

Kurt (Distinct Landscapes) performed an exception makeover to our property. We have owned our home for 20 years, with an eye on a landscape design to the house front - that pops. What we inherited were azaleas and christmas trees that continued to grow more expansive over the years. I provided Kurt with my budget and blessing to take the necessary design/purchase/installation steps necessary to dazzle. He did not disappoint! Kurt was a joy to work with, paying several visits to our property to discuss proposed layout and educate newcomers concerning the finer points of horticulture - in laymen's terms. He was extremely responsive to preferences and concerns and made several modifications of his own - before installation date. What a makeover - Korean Boxwoods, Dward Red Barberries, Goldmound Spireas, Nandina Domestica, Chery Laurels Knockout Roses, A Purple Crape Myrtle and Dragon Lady Holly species ... to name a few. Kurt did not overcrowd the design, but allowed sufficient spacing for future growth ... definitely planning for the longer range investment. With his selection, he also ensured more diverse colors over a greater portion of the calendar year. We're now the proud owners of a unique landscape that complements the house color/style much better. We absolutely recommend Kurt (without any reservations) to anyone seeking to upgrade their curb appeal with a landscape that truly impresses!

Was very happy with the work done by Kurt and his team. Our house is located on a large hill so this was not an easy job to remove the dirt and debris for existing retaining wall down two flights of stairs via wheelbarrow, and bringing the bricks for the new retaining wall up the hill. They were polite and professional, and left the area looking great and clean. They tore up the front yard a little bit where the wheelbarrow down the hill in the front yard, but it was probably unavoidable and they made sure to plant some new grass in those areas and it is growing back quickly. We are very happy with our new retaining wall. Would certainly use Kurt and his team again.

I would use Kurt again in a heartbeat. He was easy to deal with - we had most of our back and forth over email, so there was no playing telephone tag. The stone work and patio look fantastic; the work was top quality.  Also i had debated about the installation of a stone sitting wall, and Kurt didn't try to push me to install it; just the opposite: he said it would be easy to add later, so I should hold off to get a sense of our use of the patio without it first. <br>

Wonderful! Kurt was honest about his schedule when we contacted him in late August, so we knew he'd probably not begin our project until late November. We appreciated the fact that he wouldn't do our project before others he'd already scheduled, as we believed he'd extend us the same courtesy. Kurt had excellent ideas about updating our sad builder's porch, walkway, and foundation plantings, but he also listened to our ideas and desires. Most contact was via email until they actually began work, after which Kurt kept us apprised of schedule changes via text. The crew was here every day, weather permitting, until the job was finished. They left the site reasonably tidy each day, and once the job was completed, they performed the best site cleanup I have EVER seen in 30 years of home ownership, in two states! We love our new porch, walkway and plantings, and we definitely plan to contact Kurt with future projects. I plan to add photos after the plants have had a chance to fluff out.

<p>Kurt and his crew were very professional and pleasant throughout the entire project.  When it came time to make a final choice on plants, Kurt met with us at a local nursery and guided us through the selection process.  His knowledge of each plant?s growth habit and good/bad points was extremely helpful.  The installation processes went very smoothly and we are thoroughly pleased with how the plants and lighting enhance the appearance of the house.  We give Kurt our highest recommendation.</p> <br />

Kurt and his wonderful, hardworking crew showed up on time and ready to go when they said they would, completed all the necessary work to create the beds, installed the paver landing (which took a lot of work to make it level) planted all the trees, scrubs, and plants.  Cleaned up everything! (even to my standards) and completed the job on time in just a day and a half.  The crew was just great, so hardworking and careful to provide such a high quality job.  I'm going to use them when we do the front yard next year. <br />

I first contacted Kurt about a year ago while I was figuring out how I wanted to proceed.  Kurt was always responsive to me whenever I contacted him.  When I was ready to move forward, Kurt came out and to see the problem and came up with a budget friendly solution, that I can expand upon.   <br /> Since my project was rather small, a crew came out and completed everything in one day.  The entire area was dug under the tree and beyond in preparation for a swale of river rock and new plantings.    A drip water system was put under the mulch.  I spoke to Kurt in the morning when they were getting started and everything was completed by the time I got home from work.  Not only was everything beautiful, but all my old edging and stones were stacked neatly under my deck, and not a blade of grass was out of place.   <br /> Kurt and I communicated a few more times to answer my remaining questions and wrap things up.  Everything was handled extremely professionally throughout the entire process and Kurt was always a pleasure to deal with.  I had a wonderful experience and I love my new landscaping. <br />

I got several estimates and while they were all close financially Kurt Fritzges was terrific. He was very thorough and clear in his explanations. He actually talked me into a less expensive option (Originally I wanted a brick edging and we talked about the possibility of uneven settling in future years. I really appreciated that.) Other vendors only had a blue and purple stone option but Kurt got us greys and browns which look much better with our house. He really listened and we went back and forth with design. He left me areas to plant flowers as requested. He said he wanted to be sure we were completely happy with the design before they began and he was very patient with questions. The project was completed in four days. The workers arrived between 7:00 and 7:15 a.m. every day as promised and were very pleasant and professional. Kurt checked in regularly and made a minor modification for us. I highly recommend them and have already given their name to some neighbors who have commented on how great it looks. The end result exceeded my expectations! <br />

From the first time I met Kurt for the estimate throughout the entire job, he, his crew were probably the most professional home improvement company I have ever dealt with. We bought a "fixer upper" 3 years ago so I  have a lot of 'Stories" in dealing with contractors.... The story with Kurt and Distinct Landscapes is this: Reasonable price, sets expectations, amazing design work, very personable and KILLER work! His crew arrived each day at 7am. (I was teetering on the price, Kurt was not the least expensive nor was he the most expensive) I was simply amazed. 6-8 men a day for 5 days for a walk way! Consider this when you get the estimate... PLUS, to say his team are Craftsmen would be ok, but would miss the mark completely. His men are artists! Here is the best part of what I will share with you.... During the installation on Kurts walk way, I had a master bathroom being remodeled with marble. The man doing the job has 40 years of experience installing tile/marble etc. When he saw our finished product, he asked who the contractor was so he could get work done at his house. Nuf said. Wish I could give 6 stars... If you want top top quality work at a reasonable price, use this company...I will use them again, no hesitation. Really rare today but Kurt does it RIGHT! <br />

Kurt and his team were very professional and expedient. Kurt was very flexible in creating a design that matched our desired look as well as fit in with the house and lot. His team completed the job very quickly, and Kurt was very attentive to details to ensure that we were completely happy before he considered the job complete. Highly recommended

We cannot be happier with the way our backyard looks thanks to Kurt and his people. Every morning I look out from my bedroom window and love what I see. Kurt was a pleasure to work with. He was totally straight forward and did what he promised he would on time and on budget. Besides high level of integrity he is a most knowledgeable professional. He brought to our attention several options for hardscape and landscape we had not thought about materials we were not familiar with and provided a number of alternatives for us to choose from. During the implementation of the project he kept in touch with us every step of the way so we knew exactly what would be happening at all times. He came to see the project and discuss with the crew every morning. His crew was most efficient knowledgeable polite and responsive. Actually, at the end of every day they would ask what we thought and whether we were happy with what they had done that day. A few times we pointed out some detail we wanted done differently and they went ahead and did it for us right away. The job was finished over a month ago and Kurt is still answering any message we send him regarding the project. What a difference it makes dealing with a high integrity professional and a fully trained crew. Kurt's business will be our choice for any other hardscape and landscape projects we have in the future. <br />

I have a big concrete patio at the entrance to my house.  It has seen better days, so I wanted to tear it all out and in its place put a nice paver patio.  Additionally, the property drops down on the side of the house, so I wanted a small timber retaining wall with a walkway.  I got references from neighbors and those with good ratings on Angieslist.  I got four estimates.  I explained that while I wanted my property to look good, I wasn't going to stay more than 5-10 years, so I didn't want to spend a fortune.  <br /> Kurt of Distinct Landscapes is amazing.  He listened to everything I had to say.  He gave me options on pricing for pavers.  He was not the least expensive but his prices were much more reasonable than several of the others.  And one of the most incredible things he does that most in the industry do not... he calls back, he e-mails, he apologies if he doesn't get back to you the next day.  So, I decided to give him a try and I was not disappointed.  Everything was fully spelled out in the contract, he diagrammed everything.  When I wasn't thrilled with the paver choices, he dropped off more.  Even though it was the busy season, he continually kept me updated on when my project would start. <br /> So, the day before the project was supposed to begin, I threw him a curve ball.  I wanted to know if he could do another couple of "smaller projects" while his crew was there.  I would understand if we had to do them another time.  No, he agreed to look at what I needed done that day and said they would get it done while they were there.  The add-on price was more than reasonable.  <br /> It looked like an army when they showed up, different crews working on different projects.  It was a little crazy, but it allowed them to finish in three days!  Day 1 was a lot of jack hammering and trenching for the retaining wall.  Piles of supplies everywhere.  His crew were personable and polite.  If there was a question on anything, they asked me when I was there and if not, Kurt contacted me via text.  When they called it a day, everything was spotless (as spotless as you can be in a work zone anyway). Day 2 the patio was mostly finished and so was the retaining wall.  Day 3 was for finishing all four areas.  The crew let me know when they were done and did I need anything else. <br /> After three days, all my projects were complete.  Everything looks beautiful.  Even my little add-on projects which were fairly utilitarian exceeded my expectations.  I would never hesitate to give this company my highest recommendation.  They were a joy to deal with and delivered a beautiful finished product all for a reasonable price.  What more can you ask? <br />
