Our house was built nearly 30 years ago, and the septic tank had developed a crack. Since the tank was original to the house and had lasted so long, I hired the same firm to replace it that had placed the original tank. They were terrific from start to finish, and the new tank has been working well. <br />

We thought we had a problem with water leaking from our clothes washer so we called a plumber.   We had the pipe "snaked", but still experienced problems and the plumber suggested it looked like it appeared to be related to the septic.    Knowing DJ Morris was the original contractor who built the system for the prior owner of our house, we called DJ on the weekend to ask questions.  He was friendly, courteous, and agreed to come out first thing Monday morning to investigate if the issue was the leaching field or a simpler fix.    Even though we weren't the ones to put in the septic and had no guarantee for it, he arrived early Monday morning and, with the help of a worker, dug a hole and "introduced" us to another cover to our system that we had never had pumped.   Under that cover, there was a filter that we didn't know existed.    DJ willingly pulled out the filter explaining that was the cause of our problem.    Because this was a result of our own ignorance and us not getting the "as built" plans from the town, we immediately offered him money, but he adamantly refused.    He spent a few more minutes explaining the purpose of the filter and referring us to competent septic companies to use for our pumping.   He was a true gentleman--reliable, responsive, and incredibly helpful with a problem that he didn't create.   Thanks DJ for your help!   We will highly recommend you! <br />

Don and his crew did a great job for us. We were working with a short deadline and he was very responsive, first with getting us the bid quickly, and then starting soon after we accepted. Although there was not a great spread in the bids Don was the lowest. He explained the different steps of the process to us, and was very friendly and approachable. He seemed to have a good rapport with the Board of Health, which is helpful, and arranged for the various inspections to happen promptly.We were told by the BOH that they view Don's work as high quality. They finished the job in the timeframe thay had promised, and when they were done the site the left behind was well graded and neat looking. I would definitely recommend Don to anyone who needed this sort of work. <br />

Don Morris is an amazing individual. I've been calling contractors for my septic system and for other work for weeks. He is the only one who consistently returns calls. Additionally, he is punctual and direct. He doesn't pull any punches. His pricing is amazing, and a very pleasant surprise. He and his crew showed up on the agreed upon date, and they went right to work. Within three days, they had everything finished, including delivery of a truckload of loam. We hired DJ Morris to do the site and septic work for our new house.  Don Morris was exceptional.  He completely exceeded our expectations and helped us navigate the complicated world of dealing with the utility companies.  He also did the project in the time frame and budget promised. <br /> We highly recommend DJ Morris. <br />

We hired D.J Morris, to dig a trench to lay a water pipe from street curb stop to our house to connect to town water mains.  <br /> We got estimates from 5 companies and they had among the lower quotes (not the lowest, but pretty close. given their A rating we decided to go with them).  <br /> They co-ordinated with the  town for water meter installation. They began work almost right away after we and the town was ready. The work was done in a morning. The space to move their construction vehicle was limited since we had a basket ball hoop on one side and a small garden on the other. But they did this with no damage at all. <br /> They also planted back most of the plants that were removed during the escalation which was a pleasant surprise for us.  <br /> When they were done, they also helped me move a couple of large boulders from the stone wall near the entrance to our house - which was a huge help since I could not have moved without the backhoe. <br /> in all, a very professional and skilled crew. It would be difficult to overstate how pleased I have been with D.J. Morris's services. I first hired them in 1995, after soliciting four bids for a small septic system. One was about equal in price to DJM's, one was about 30% higher, and one was more than double. (A fifth contractor, located in Lincoln, called unasked after scanning permits in the Building Dep't. He came in at TRIPLE the price, then offered to match Don's when I told him the bid. I pointed out that either he'd tried to cheat me in the first place, or would be taking a heavy loss on the job. Either way, I wasn't interested.) <br /> I chose DJM for Don's approachable manner, and high recommendations from both Building Department and Board of Health. The project went very well, and I have hired him for septic replacements four times in total. Knowing how fair and honest he is, I have only solicited competing bids when required by law for one pre-sale installation. <br /> DJM's crews have always been both very skilled and a real pleasure to work with. They are efficient, neat, polite, and easy to communicate with when questions or options arise. I'm not sure I've ever found such an ideal combination of quality, efficiency, pleasantness, and very fair prices. <br /> In each of these four jobs, there was a need for some landscaping, and opportunities for much more. In each case, Don offered suggestions for major redesigns that proved both more attractive and more functional than what the customer (me) and various advisors had envisioned. The company was able to supply excellent materials - fill, subsoil, loam, landscape boulders - at extremely reasonable prices, and to leave even complex contours in pretty nearly ready-to-seed condition. Don also made helpful suggestions about saving and relocating existing plantings, attractive rocks, etc., as well as placing paths and other use features over and near the new septic systems. <br /> Other than roofing, septic installations seem to be the "can't avoid it" job where contractors offer the widest range of pricing and quality - and where customers don't know until much later what we bought. It is such a pleasure to be able to put complete trust in a contractor, and takes much of the stress out of one of the biggest capital projects most of us ever need to undertake.

Although Don was not the lowest bidder [I obtained five quotes], he was the most responsive and went out of his way to ensure that one of our old growth trees remained, even though it required his operator to have to work around it at some inconvenience.  Don was always there for our appointments and for the actual work when he said he would be there.  He was extremely professional.  I highly recommend him.

His men were professional and courteous at all times. The work was completed in a timely manner and they were  the lowest bid I got. My back yard, where the septic system is, looks better than it ever has. I am extremely pleased with their service.

Don Morris was clearly expert in his initial evaluation of the project, which is why I chose him. His bid was very competitive. He started on time, and worked to finish the whole project in 8 days. The engineering design was executed precisely, with proper elevations and grade of all pipes for proper gravity feed. He interacted well with the plumbers doing the connection with the household plumbing. His workers were very experienced and careful, both in their work, and in respecting the maintenance of surrounding areas.

Overall, Don did a great job. His quote was in line with others and he offered some helpful suggestions on the work. We did have some challenges getting the work scheduled, but he did deliver on his time commitment and showed up as scheduled. I was pleasantly surprised that despite the work taking longer than either of us had anticipated, his team finished the job the next day without complaint or additional charges. The quality of the work was excellent.

He did a good job. He ended up using more sand than he had estimated, so the final bill was a little more than the estimated cost. The contracts do not include grading afterwards, so there was significant landscaping work to be done afterwards. The plans that I had ended up with the system coming out higher than I thought they would. When I realized that the system was coming out higher, I tried to reach him, but couldn't get a hold of him. That was the only time responsiveness was an issue.
