DNA Residential Restoration

Since my previous review of DNA I've kept employing Derek Esterline and his associates over and over again, as there's no end of things that need to be repaired/updated/replaced, etc, after thirty-some years of "deferred maintenance." Derek has recently taken on a new partner, John Wright, and I wanted to update my review with a note about how expertly he has fit into the business. John is conscientious, industrious, and a very quick study who appreciates the high levels of skill and experience Derek has to impart. Recently they've given my barn a complete makeover, replacing shoddy roofing, broken windows, siding and hardware as necessary, and power-washing and painting the exterior and trim so that it now looks like something you might find in Martha Stewart's back pasture. They've cleaned up severe storm damage, carefully taking down a huge maple limb that had been weakened and left hanging perilously over the road by gale-force winds. In addition, John's in charge of the bookkeeping chores, cheerfully and diligently dealing with all the paperwork. That he's also an extraordinarily kind person is not necessarily relevant to a review like this, but to the extent that it speaks to a person's character I'll throw that in as well. (I've been so touched by the way he makes sure my very old, blind, dog gets his share of attention and doggie treats.) As far as I'm concerned, Derek and John are the Hallmark Cards of the repair business--for "when you care enough to hire the very best."

The work was professionally completed within the estimated cost and time. They kept me informed as to when they would arrive even when they were running late. The carpenters also did additional exterior things that they saw that needed to be taken care. These additional things did not add to the estimated cost or time.

DNA did a fantastic job installing 3 surveillance cameras high up on my house and installing an electrical box in our closet. They were professional and the quality of their work was excellent. I also felt their rates were very competitive compared with others that I priced out. I would highly recommend hiring them.

Alex and Brent came in on time. They installed my kitchen cabinet hardware. Their work was very nice and reasonably priced. The two guys were easy to work with and the project was completed in a timely manner. Definitely will do business with them again.

Alex answered on my first call, it was an informal answer of the call and I did need to reassure it was DNA Residential Restoration to be certain. In contrast there was no automated phone system, which was appreciated. After that, we conversed with ease and promptness. Date available was sooner than other quoted dates. On the day, Alex arrived on time and completed the job with his estimated time frame. No surprises and great work done.

Alex and Derek are both easy to work with. Professional , efficient, respectful of your time and property. Willing to do whatever is needed to complete the job to your satisfaction. They are very busy so plan accordingly. We are very happy with the work they did!

After reading the reviews below I was almost hesitant to call DNA, thinking "nobody can be that good." I was right--they're even better. I'm the reason there's such a gap in recommendations here--I didn't want them lining up jobs with anyone else! I'd been fretting about overdue home maintenance for years, but when a gutter inspector inadvertently dislodged a section of decaying fascia my hand was finally forced. I found this page and gave DNA a call. They were courteous and prompt, coming right out to inspect the problem and give an estimate, which was carefully detailed. The work was swift and perfect. Equally as important, Derek and Alex are the sort of polite, unassuming, conscientious people that one dreams of encountering. From that first day we've moved on to residing the house, completely remodeling the main bathroom, window replacement, AC installation, and a host of other things. This means we are together more often than many families are--obviously employing good, decent people makes a huge difference. They are superlative builders, equipped to handle any project that can be done in or around a house. So far I’ve needed carpentry, siding, plumbing, wiring, and more. Their work is painstaking and of the highest quality. They are also exceedingly patient with a meticulous customer who nevertheless frequently has no idea how to implement--or sometimes, even articulate--what she's thinking of (me). And one who has trouble making choices. I dithered over siding color for days--make that weeks--while they patiently brought out large samples of various colors and tacked them on the house so I could see them in situ. Remodeling is an unending series of such choices, so if they were ever to lose patience, I'd know by now. I could go on and on but this is already too long. Just one more thing: My two dogs can’t wait for DNA to get here each day. One of them is a very active two-year-old terrier mix, and when the weather finally improved this spring, I had Derek and Alex take a break from the home work to patch up a corral fence down at the barn, so I could train and play with my young pup off leash. They did so in a trice (and installed a new gate, and better latches for the barn doors; and mowed the weeds in the corral and then the field path), then Derek thought that Junie, the pup, might like a toybox down there. I thought that was the cutest idea I've ever heard! So he built an open-topped wooden box, affixed to the side of the barn at Junie-height, which has been a resounding success. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.

DNA did a phenomenal job repairing our loud creaky stairs. They were very responsive with communication and were flexible and gracious to work us into their busy schedule.

These two are awesome. First of all, excellent quality work. Derek is easy to talk to and helped me make decisions concerning materials and aesthetics. This team is professional, they work hard and kept me informed every step of the way. I am so thankful I had them to complete this huge task.

Alex stayed in touch via texting to find out what I needed. He and Derek worked me into their schedule earlier than planned which was very much appreciated, since the weather was getting worse by the day. Alex was up front on the pricing and I appreciated that. They got the job done, offered some good suggestions on work that could help down the road, and eased my mind on the condition of the chimney. Very nice guys, I'll keep them in mind for other projects

Derek and Alex installed a storm door for me but not before finding out that my main door needed some repairs on the frame work..They brought it to my attention and the repair was made and storm door was put in..they were very friendly and cleaned up the mess afterwards including removing my old door from the premises..Thank You for a great job done and I would highly recommend them. I would use their services again..

It went very well. Alex and Derek were relaxed and friendly in their work with us and with each other as they did the repair, and their standards for their work are high. We were very pleased with the results.

Alex and Derek were great. They consulted with us about the project and kept us in the loop about their availability. They arrived on time both days and did an outstanding job on the steps and platform. They cleaned up all the sawdust before they left. We'd definitely hire them again for any future projects.

I was very happy with the results. They put in an open stairway and redid the floor and walls. They were very articulate about the details and getting everything just right. Very friendly and concerned in my happiness with the outcome.

Awesome!! DNA completed all work plus some! Two of the most honest people I have ever worked with and they even came in under budget! My wife is already making a list of work for them to complete in the spring! After each job was completed they cleaned up after themselves to the point you could not tell anyone had been their working.
