The septic tank was functioning fine after they were done. I have it done regularly and have it done since we have a large family. The thing that stood out to me was that they came out on time and the guys were really polite.

DO NOT USE!!!! Don & Austin septic are the same company, I purchased my house in 2011. The house was built in 2010. At the beginning of this month I noticed ground collapse around my septic tank. I immediately thought the worst, a dreaded sink hole but it turned out a sink hole was not the case. I began digging and noticed all of the PVC pipes the connect to the black piping that goes to the drain field were disconnected. Long story short, it is called a drain field blow out. In a panic I called Don septic to come out. They charged me $150 just for the service call. Upon arrival, the technician advised me "whoever installed this whole system did it wrong, was this even done under a permit??" The other gentleman with him informed me he is a truck driver and was just helping out that day because they were busy. Don's recommended a whole drain fill excavation (total cost between $3,000-$5,000). I panicked. I contacted the builder who told me that Don's & Austin's septic actually installed the WHOLE system!!!!! I called Don's immediately and advised them that they actually installed the system. The secretary hung up on me and they refused to return my calls. After talking to others in the neighborhood and the work of Don's & Austin's has had to be replaced by others. I ended up finding a company (John's by John) that has fixed my drain fill and septic issues for a fraction of the cost. They are honest and straight forward about pricing and did the job right.

Save yourself the trouble.... Do not use
Austin Septic Systems and Don's Septic Service, Inc. are owned by Don and Ann Marie Prettyman. I used Don's Septic Service on
June 19, 2012. and was very dissatisfied with their service. I would NEVER either recommend or use either one of them again. I sent the following letter (below) to Don's Septic Service on September 29, 2012. After sending this letter, I received a check and apology from Ann Marie Prettyman in the amount of $330.00. The check was issued on October 4, 2012. I deposited the check and it bounced. The bank charged me an additional $12.00 for their bad check. At the top of the Prettyman's check is
printed,"Don's Septic Service Inc. DBA Austin Septic Systems." The two companies are one and the same. I paid Don's Septic Service $230.00 to pump the septic tank and clean the filter. I spent $760.00 on plumbers and another Septic Service (Jimmy's) to pump the septic tank and the bank charged me $12.00 for the bounced check from Don's Septic Service DBA Austin Septic Service. My total out of pocket expenses were $1002.00.
September 29, 2012
Good Morning Mr. and Mrs. Prettyman,
Over one month ago I spoke with Marie concerning a problem that I had with your company. To recap?back on June 19, 2012, a representative of your company came to my home to pump my septic tank and clean the filter. I gave this gentleman a check in the amount of $230.00. After he left, I continued to have raw sewage backup into my home. Thinking there were other problems with the plumbing, I had to call in three other plumbing experts to diagnose my problem. After all, the problem couldn't be the septic tank, it had been pumped.
After spending an additional $760.00 to locate the source of the raw sewage backing up into my home, my problem was diagnosed and solved by another septic tank service. When the gentleman opened the septic tank, approximately three weeks after your employee supposedly pumped out my couldn't, my septic tank was full of solid waste.
I called repeatedly to Don?s Septic Service and spoke with several very courteous and polite young ladies. However, no one ever returned my calls.
Next, I sent a letter and all of my documentation to Don?s Septic Service and still did not receive a returned call. After about ten phone calls, I was able to speak to a lady named Marie. She said that she had my letter and all of my documentation in front of her. I again explained the order of events concerning Don?s Septic Service and felt that I was due some type of refund because of the lack of service from your company and the $760.00 which I had to spend to correct a problem which your company caused.
I explained to her that I was a teacher and did not have this type of money to squander away on a problem which I actually did not have.
Marie was extremely understanding and agreed. She agreed that Don?s Septic Service would refund my $760.00 but it would be sent in two separate checks, two weeks apart.
Needless to say, I was overjoyed in finding a company who would admit to their mistakes and compensate me for my out of pocket expenditures. I thanked her for her honesty and integrity and told her she had restored my faith in Don?s Septic Service.
My sister, who lives across the street and was actually the person who recommended Don?s in the first place, was here when I spoke to Marie and she remarked that it is always nice to be able to recommend a company.
Well, it has been way past the two weeks and no check has arrived. I have called your company at least three times from my home and no one answers your phone.
This morning I was able to leave a voice mail.
I really don?t want to contact the Channel 11 news, 11 On Your Side, to see if they can help me get my refund. I want to be able to recommend Don?s Septic Service to the large number of teachers that live in Pasco County. I don?t want to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or Angie?s List.
So please restore my faith in your company and have my check here by Monday,
October 10, 2012.
Sincerely,
Julia L. On June 19, 2012, Don's Septic Service came to my home to pump out the septic tank and clean the filter. By the end of this nightmare, I ended up spending $990.00 plus a $12.00 charge for a bounced check from Don's Septic Service and Austin's Septic Service which they sent me.
After June 19th, and the service man from Don's left, I continued to have raw sewage back up into my home. Thinking there were other problems with the plumbing, I had to call in three other plumbing experts to diagnose my problem. After spending an additional $760.00 to locate the source of the raw sewage backing up into my home, my problem was diagnosed and solved by another septic tank service. When the gentleman from Jimmy's Septic Service opened the septic tank, approximately three weeks after Don's said they pumped my septic tank, my septic tank was full of solid waste. It was obvious my septic tank had never been pumped.
I called repeatedly to Don?s Septic Service and spoke with several very courteous and polite young ladies. However, no one ever
returned my calls. Next, I sent a letter and all of my documentation to Don?s Septic Service and still did not receive a returned call.
After about ten phone calls, I was able to speak to a lady named Marie. She agreed that Don?s Septic Service would refund my $760.00 but it would be sent in two separate checks, two weeks apart.
Well, a check for $380.00 did arrived with an apology note from Don's Septic Service and Austin's Septic Service signed by Ann Marie Prettyman. However, the CHECK BOUNCED and I was charged $12.00 by the bank. I would never recommend Don's Septic Service and Austin's Septic Service.

We paid for an inspection and pumping for a home we were purchasing.
Don's never did the pumping or inspection, but took the money for the
job. They pencil whipped the paperwork for the bank, signed a certified
letter that it was done. We bought the home, and then ran into a
disaster with our septic system. We were in the house less than two
weeks when we started experiencing problems. Don's wouldn't cooperate,
refused to make repairs without being paid more money, and told us maybe
the technician went to the wrong address. That was bs of course because
they took the money. Don told me he wanted more money to fix the
problems. If he had done the inspection when he was paid to do so, we
wouldn't have had to go through the nightmare. We hired someone else to
fix the problems, and of course had to pay them to fix it. We hired a
lawyer, who wrote a demand letter to Don's, in which they did not
respond to. We'll be filing a suit for all costs we've incurred. The
system would have never passed inspection, had the inspection ever been
done. This company is terrible. They were very rude, and unprofessional.
These people should not be in business. Not one single person has
apologized for what they did, or should I say, didn't do.
Don's Septic, who we have used several times before, came out to pump the septic tank on 9/28.
After arriving 2 hours late, the driver spent 35 minutes trying to find the tank, flat refusing to listen to where I told him it was (which is in an odd spot) and not referring to the paperword he had from the previous service. First he told me that he was going to stop looking for it and I would have to call someone out to "find" it and then schedule him to come back. Fortunately, when he called the office, they convinced him to look at the paerwork and he was able to find and drain the tank after much grumbling about we needed to remove plants that wound up not being a hinderance whatsoever.
He pointed out the th lid fiberglass lid needed to be replaced. We called the office on October 1st and have called back several times a week since. As of this morning, we still can't get in touch with anyone who can tell us when it is going to be installed. We still have a big hole in the from yard from September 28th as we didn't want to put the dirt back over the damaged lid.
Dons gave me a time (10am) they would show up and were a no show. I called 3 times to get an approximate time and could not get one. I waited all day and they did not show. I received a call at 7pm asking if their driver had shown up? Waisted a whole day waiting for them. They came the next morning at 7:30 without notice or calling. Their driver was professional and courteous, but there seems to be a lack of communication from their office.

I give them an A for overall experience but I didn't do a lot of comparing and it might be a decent price. It was a little more then I expected it to be but they did a good job. They gave me a time when they knew they would be here and when he was going to be 20 min late he called me ahead of time to let me know he was running a few min late but he was on his way. I was just fine with that but if he would have just showed up late I would have marked him down a rating. He was very professional, friendly and I would use them again.

The entire experience was a nightmare from beginning to end! Thank goodness my realtor was there monitoring the situation and taking pictures, otherwise I don't think the technician would have confessed to any of the multitude of errors that happened here. First, the guy didn't remove enough dirt to completely uncover the septic lid, so when he got out his big metal pry bar to slide the concrete lid over so he could get his hose in the tank, he broke the lid! Like I say, thank goodness my realtor was there taking pics. You could clearly see the dirt wasn't removed enough and the break in the lid was clean, fresh break.

When I called the company to talk about it, I was told they weren't responsible and it would be $400 for a new lid. The measurements for the replacement lid were notated on my receipt. After sending the pics and an email to the mgmt, I was told they would split the cost with me 50/50. After a week or so went by and more discussions, I was told they would replace the lid at no cost, but they would have to come out and measure so they could order to the correct size lid.

When they finally got around to replacing the lid, and this is from my best conclusion anyway, I believe the technician was going to make, or somehow create a lid, by pouring concrete on a piece of plastic that looked like an upside down long party table! Before he could do that though, he had to remove the broken lid. In the process of doing that, he dropped the largest piece of the broken concrete lid down into the tank! This piece had to weigh a good couple of hundred pounds I would guess, because it was big. Again, I don't think the guy was going to say anything except that my realtor again happened to be there and confronted him about it.

At that point, management came on site and saw what was going on with the upside down table thing and that the large piece of the broken lid was now at the bottom of my septic tank. In order to remove the large piece of concrete from the tank, it had to be pumped out all over again. That evening, I was told they found the exact size lid needed for my tank (rather than using the table thing ??).

Since we (the buyers) were out of state and not coming to the property for a few weeks, the tech was supposed to retrieve the large piece of concrete from the tank and leave it on site so we would be assured that this mess was resolved correctly. Well, you guessed it. When we arrived, there was no concrete piece anywhere to be found. By this time, I have absolutely no confidence left in this company whatsoever, so I chose to cut my losses and let ignorance be bliss, and hope and pray they did the right thing and fix the septic the way it was supposed to be. Another sign to validate my lack of confidence in this company is that mgmt didn't even bother to apologize or follow up on this fiasco at all!

I have no idea if the concrete was retreived and/or if the lid pieces were installed properly or not. All I know is they gave me a certificate that the septic passed inspection way before they had replaced the broken lid. There was a big hole in the yard with ladders laid over it so no accidents would happen and I had a satisfactory inspection certificate in hand!! I will never use or recommend this company to anyone! Absolutley the worst experience I have ever had with a service company in my entire life!

I think they are pretty good. When I had a little bit of a problem afterwards with the septic field sticking out; they repaired it without a charge. I think they are probably a little pricey. I will use them again in the future.

Driver was a little later than initially promised, but he did call well before the appt to advise that he was running about an hour late and gave me an updated time that he met. He quickly diagnosed the bad pump and fortunately had brought one with him just in case. Don's will definitely be my first call if I need septic work in the future.

The company replacing my septic tank drain field, CPR-Charlie Pritt Repair, co-ordinated having Don's Septic Service come out and pump my septic tank before completing the drain field work. Jerry from Don's Septic said the tank was very heavy inside with 3 1/2 feet of sludge. That's why they had to charge a little more than usual. Jerry said I should have the tank pumped out every 6 years and they will send a reminder. I was happy with the service and glad to know a company I can call on when/if I need them...

This is the second time that I have used Don's Septic Service. Ansel came out both times. He has been punctual and calls befrore arriving (I'll be there in twenty minutes!). Both times that I needed the service, they were able to come out the next day - even on a weekend at no extra charge! Ansel is polite, proffessional and courteous. I will continue using Don's Septic Service for my future needs.

Austin's Septic Systems

Things didn't go well.
Equipment broke down.
The job should have taken a week, it took 6 weeks.
Had a pit in my front yard, that filled with water.
We had issues with accounting with it.
When they finished it, it never worked correctly.
We have had 2 blow outs on it.
No one can seem to fix it., and no one wants to take responsibility for it.
But they did make an effort to fix it.
It is a pain in the neck !
