They came out to fix my door and they leave and its still leaking the day they left. They send us different person and they told me to get a storm door for $2000 and that's not gonna work, they supposed to be here on Monday and yesterday and they didn't show up and they never call me back. Now its ruining my carpet they need to get back here or follow the law suit.

I wanted to give them a great review. I really did. I had hoped to have repeat business. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. I hired the Door Doctor to repair a front door that had been hung incorrectly. As a side job, I had a door going into my garage that was also in bad shape. The repairman came out and was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He was able to repair the front door in 10 minutes, and gave me a quick assessment of what needed to happen for the garage entry door. He gets the extra star that saves this from being a 1-star review. But that's where the good things ended. This company has a policy of a $42.50 charge for doing an estimate. Then, according to my initial email response, the estimate charge would be applied to any repairs. Odd, but acceptable. When the repairman gave me the estimate for the garage entry door (my secondary concern), the estimate for the door was over $2,000. It's not a fancy door. In fact, the only requirements are that it be steel and weather resistant. I was stunned. But, at the moment, I froze like a deer. He already has the measurements, is poised to get it done... ugh... what do I do... and I handed over my credit card for a mandatory 50% deposit. That's on me. Here's what didn't happen: * The estimate wasn't itemized. How much was for the door? How much was for labor? Beats me. Doesn't say. * There was no choosing from a selection of doors. I was told that this was the door I needed. * There wasn't a clear verbal or written indication that my deposit was non-refundable. Yes, there's common sense that I forgot because I was on the spot. I own that. And there was, at the very bottom, a line in 10 point type that says "No refunds or returns." Again, technically my fault. But good business practice would indicate to me that you outline important terms like that. Here's what did happen: * The appointment was on a Friday afternoon. I spoke with several people over the weekend who told me to RUN, that I only needed a door that was under $200 from several sources, and that installation would run about $400-500. * I called Door Doctor within 24 business hours on Monday morning to cancel the order. * That Monday afternoon, my call was returned where I was told that the door had already been ordered and that it was being worked on (is it custom? Who needs a custom garage entry door? That's not specified anywhere.) And OF COURSE, my deposit wasn't refundable, but they would "see what they could do." * The invoice was really confusing. Item No.1 on the list is a charge for "estimate - $42.50." Turns out, it wasn't ever added into the final price, but then why put it on there? A customer-facing invoice should show either (a) actual charges, (b) a charge and a credit for an item that was incurred but reversed, or (c) a strikethrough. • Subsequent calls to get the door delivered went unanswered, to a full voicemail, or via a long email delay. I finally received the door on June 9, one month and one day after it was so quickly ordered. I am now the owner of a $1,100 door that took a month to arrive. I won't be coming back, and I won't be advising friends to come here either. Having been in my new home almost a month, I now am developing an entire catalog of trustworthy contractors and vendors who I am happy to do straightforward business with.

I was SO happy with the service & responsiveness of Jody & team at the Door Doctor! I had a very tight timeframe to get a dog door installed in my new home in Conroe before I left for a business trip. It was not a straightforward installation so I appreciated that the Door Doctor team provided with with cost & details for 2 different options. Jody re-arranged schedules to get my installation done that same week so that I'd have it in place not only before I left for my trip but so that I'd have time to train my dogs how to use it. I am very happy with the service & I'd happily use her team's services again!

They were super responsive and came out the week after I contacted them. The visit was great and they even ended up helping us fix the doors ourselves. I would definitely use their services in the future!

WARNING: Hurricane Harvey price gouging! The estimate to replace our door (Home Depot cost of door is $250) was $2,600 and change! Outrageous. We have found a better solution and we are not in an urgent situation like flood victims who have swollen doors that won't close and must accept these quotes if they want to close and lock their door. Shame on this company.
Response from Door Doctor
"We have actually lowered our prices for hurricane Harvey. We are a family owned and operated company for over 50 years. Our Marc Made doors are guaranteed for life, even through a flood. We are very proud of the work we do, and that is why we have been around for so long. Please keep in mind that through out the recovery process, you will find many people will be offering cheap services for something that they do not specialize in. While we understand price is an important factor in repairing your home, we also know what it takes to do the job correctly. I understand the stress and frustration that everyone is under, but we would never raise our prices to capitalize on horrible situation, that we are all in together. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to help you."

Its an lady's company. She came out and got the estimate, and the next day or so the man came out to install it. I was worry about the rod, because it was an older garage, and we couldn't find any remote controls. He gave us remote controls, and said it would line up. He was good with what he did. He updated what needed to be done. She did good on every question. She was there a little bit early. Maybe not too early. It wasn't she was waiting for thirty minutes, but she was there a couple of minutes. She was waiting for me to put my dog's up. She was very professional. She didn't act like a male at all. She acted like a feminine lady. She was the owner. We tried to use her again, and she face-time the walk through for free. She told him what button to push. It had been a while for them to come out. There was just one guy. I failed to put my dogs up. He did whatever it was in a short amount of time. He answered all the questions. Whatever it was for the price, he did great. Its still working. He walked me through the remote controls too. It was a Saturday, and it was a window of time for that particular time. He was there when he said he was going to be there.

Jody and her company provided absolutely exceptional services. Jody answers all of the calls personally and coordinates the service times. She is extremely knowledgeable about her craft and very empathetic. After the burglary, we just boarded up our doors, and she was the only service provider who recognized the urgency of the situation and moved our appointment up to address our needs. I called her on a Tues and she scheduled for our door to be fixed on that Weds--which is really remarkable. Furthermore, her and her team recommended the product that made the most sense for our needs rather than directing us toward the most expensive option. I would recommend her to any friend and would absolutely use her services again.

The technician was knowledgeable and thorough, although he could not give me a ballpark cost for the door he was recommending which was suspicious. Suspicions were confirmed when I received the quote. Prices were astronomical (~$3500 per single, $5000 per double for unfinished (primed) doors.) Total quote nearly $30k Material-free labor appears to be at $200-$300 per hour.
Response from Door Doctor
"Mr. [Member Name Removed], I think that when you start shopping for your repairs and replacement that our doors are quite different that other doors. The doors that were quoted for you are 8ft ALL STEEL EDGE doors and they come with a lifetime warranty including the finish and mechanics of the locks. The threshold that we would install have a complete pvc bottom and will not rot from the inside and cause water to come into the house like it is now. The doors you have are experiencing rot damage due to being over exposed, it you choose a door with a wood edge it will happen again. We can offer you big box store doors but they will be comparable to what you have now. It will give you the same types of problems in the future. That is why we offered our Marc Made Door. This is really what you need so you wont have these problems again. Lifetime Warranty. We try to offer solutions to our customers door problems. We have 50 + years of experience with doors in Houston and that is why we now manufacture our own units. We know how to solve the problems. While you are comparing, if you have any questions, please give us a call."

We talked with several companies, but decided on The Door Doctor. They came out and did professional measurements and sent us a detailed cost estimate. We chose their Marc-Made brand doors for both our front doors and the back door. These are superior, 22-gauge steel edged doors that fit our needs perfectly. AND they are just GORGEOUS! i never thought I would get excited about a door, but I love these. Other reviews have commented on the cost. Well, I think you get what you pay for. This company was totally professional, prompt, and a pleasure to work with. And they have a lifetime warranty on the doors. I would not hesitate to use their services again.

They missed the first appointment. They charged my $45 dollars for an estimate and then wanted $600 for a 2 hour job which included ~$50 of parts. Maybe it's just me but I'm not accustomed to paying a handyman ~$250 and hour.
