On July 13th this company sent over a “service guy” who happens to be one of his friends. This man fixed our AC unit and told us we needed a new drain pan. In the meantime I was speaking to Kendal (owner of DOT sheet metal). He said he would get us a drain pan made and it would cost $300. Three weeks later on August 6,2021 he demanded to come over and install drain pan without any notice. I advised him I was not home and it would have to wait until Monday August 9. He came over Monday August 9 at 12:30pm after saying he would be there at 10AM. Kendal left around 3:30pm he threw out a condensate pump that was “broken” and left a plastic bucket next to my unit to catch water. It looked completely unprofessional but when I questioned it he insisted it was fine. He told me I couldn’t turn on AC until 30 minutes after he left which was when I realized the AC wasn’t working. I reached out multiple times Tuesday morning to resolve the issue. I ended up reaching out to his friend he sent over on July 13th. That friend explained that Kendal is not an HVAC servicer and has 0 knowledge of how to fix a central air conditioning unit. The friend told us that the pump Kendal threw out was in fact not broken so we had to buy a new one in order for our AC to work. Kendal charged me $800 to ultimately break my air conditioning unit and ignore my calls. He is only getting one store for overall experience because giving a 0 is not possible.

DANNY CALLED ME IMMEDIATELY AFTER I PUT IN A REQUEST ON ANGIES LIST. HE OFFERED TO DO AN ESTIMATE THAT SAME DAY. THEN OFFERED TO DO THE WORK THAT SAME DAY AS WELL. I ONLY HAD HALF THE CASH TO WIRE HIM BUT HE OFFERED TO DO THE WORK AND RECEIVE THE BALANCE LATER IN THE WEEK. (It is my father’s home. I was not present) I RECEIVED A TEXT FROM DANNY IRIZARRY AT 7:50pm SATURDAY SAYING, “THE JOB IS DONE BUT I MADE AN OOPS.” WITH A PHOTO OF A DAMAGED CABINET DOOR ATTACHED. HE AGREED TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT. ON SUNDAY MORNING AT 11:30am, I RECEIVE A TEXT FROM MY FATHER, “DO NOT PAY DANNY ANOTHER PENNY!” UPON CONNECTING THE ELECTRIC AND RUNNING A TEST, MY FATHER DISCOVERS THAT THE DUCT WAS VENTING INTO THE CABINETS. AFTER INVESTIGATING, HE FOUND THAT THE VENT WAS NOT PROPERLY SECURED OR SEALED IN THE REAR. ONLY SEALED WHERE IT IS VISIBLE IN THE FRONT. THERE WAS A SPACE BIG ENOUGH TO EASILY PUT YOUR HAND THROUGH. I CALLED DANNY AND HE SAID HE WOULD COME BACK OVER THE WEEKEND TO FIX IT AND THAT HIS TRAINEE HAD INSTALLED THAT SECTION OF THE VENT. HE WAS APOLOGETIC. I DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER AND DISCOVERED THAT HE DID NOT CUT THE CABINET TO ALLOW FOR A PROPER ANGLE AND INSTEAD CRUSHED THE ELBOW TO FIT INTO THE STRAIGHT SLEEVE. THEN TAPED IT UP TO COMPENSATE. I WANTED TO ADRESS ALL ISSUES SO I TOOK THE FITTINGS APART ONLY TO FIND THAT HE HAD SAWED A 2” EXIT HOLE INTO THE SIDE OF MY HOUSE INSTEAD OF THE REQUIRED 4” (to fit the 4” duct that he installed). THIS WILL CAUSE BACKUP AND FUMES TO BE FORCED INTO THE CABINETS AND BACK INTO KITCHEN. ON TOP OF THAT THERE WAS WALL INSULATION STUCK INSIDE OF THE DUCT BLOCKING AIR FLOW!! FIRE HAZARD!! I NO LONGER FELT CONFIDENT IN DANNY CORRECTING THE WORK IF THIS IS WHAT HE PASSED OFF AS A JOB DONE. I CALLED HIM TO EXPLAIN WHAT I DISCOVERED AND HE REACTED SURPRISED, AS IF HE WASN'T AWARE. APPARENTLY, HE DID NOT DO THAT PART OF THE JOB EITHER!! I ASKED WHAT HE DID DO AND HE RESPONDED, “I BOUGHT THE PARTS.” HE LET HIS TRAINEE CUT OPEN MY EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR WALL AS WELL AS A CABINET!!!! WHO ALSO CUT THROUGH A SUPPORT BEAM!! WHEN I ASKED WHY HE CUT A 2” HOLE AND NOT 4”, HE RESPONDED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE THE APPROPRIATE TOOLS. THIS IS ABSOLUTE INCOMPETENCE. AT THIS POINT, THE JOB NEEDS TO BE REDONE START TO FINISH AND A CABINET DOOR REPLACED. DANNY HAS GONE BACK ON HIS PROMISE TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED DOOR. FORTUNATELY, I HAD NOT WIRED THE BALANCE BUT I AM OUT $463 AND HAVE TO PAY A NEW CONTRACTOR TO FIX DOT SHEETMETAL’S BOTCHED JOB. I HOPE THIS SERVES AS A WARNING TO CUSTOMERS SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL BUT ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE INS AND OUTS OF DUCT WORK/HVAC AND HAVE TO TRUST THAT A LICENSE ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING. FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH, DANNY WAS A NICE GUY, COURTEOUS AND SEEMED TO HAVE CARED ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOOD REVIEWS. THAT SOLD ME AND MADE ME BELIEVE HE HAD INTEGRITY IN HIS WORK. I WAS MISTAKEN.
