I cancelled the work because I had to go to therapy 3 times a week..............so his response was his men could work in my house when I wasn't home, no way jose, I didn't tell him but his men stole over a $1000.00 worth of tools from my basement, yes Kenneth this istrue........all I have left in the basement are rusty old tools no one could use............Before he started the job he wanted half down, so I gave him $4400.00, that was on 09/15/2013.............When I told him to cancel the job and give me back my money he said he would..........It is now 05/27/2015 and he has only given me back $1000.00..............Everytime I ask him for my money he ALWAYS comes up with some excuse why he can't give me my money back.............the last time he told me I would have my money in 4 weeks that was 12 weeks ago, STILL NO MONEY..............My advice to everyone is BE CAREFUL, I believe this man to be a crook and a shady character, when he comes to your house, he comes off as a real nice man, but underneath he is figuring out ways to gyp you, like he has done to me..........If you write something about this Mr. Kenneth Adams, remember what you told someone, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT

He came in and did the work, I noticed that the counter top was cracked, I told him, and it took almost a week to come out and we scheduled a time for a week out. The crack went from one end of the counter to the other. I haven’t heard from him sense.

They didn’t finish the deck or put rails around the swimming pool. They didn’t complete my back deck. The windows weren’t caulked so I have water damage on the inside of my home, parts of my siding is coming off on the outside of my house. Around my front door the casing around the door is coming off in sharp edges and I’ve cut myself. The black capping around the widows needs to be taken off so the window can be caulked. It was extremely poorly done. In the process of this work they purchased two damaged steel doors that had dents in it. My granite countertop had a nick it in. They installed the wrong sized vanities. Consequently, they had to remove a heating system so we could close the door. I wanted black Koehler toilets and he told me they were too expensive. I don’t know why he said this because I’m paying for it, but I went with white ones per his suggestion. It cost $2600 for vanities and toilets. The toilets don’t flush properly. My bill went up and it smells like sewer. And he didn’t purchase the Koehler toilets. They hit my son’s car and they took out my 60+ year magnolia tree. They damaged our sidewalk. I had asked him for the receipt for my back screen door because the deck isn’t level with the step. I need the receipt to take the door Home Depot to repair the bottom. It’s damaged because of the unevenness of the deck ground. He hasn’t responded to any of my emails.

"We are repairing any issues that she may have. We did all the things that was in the contract she is adding things that was not in the contract. There is an inspector involved so that any and all issues can be resolved. She has not even paid her bill yet and is asking for money back."

My mother and father were discussing a bathroom remodel for about a month. My dad was diagnosed with a rare appendix cancer and passed 89 days later. My mother planned on staying in the house so she still wanted to remodel the bathroom but could not afford to. These were things my dad usually handled so she was hesitant but I found Dream Works on here and felt comfortable that they had great ratings. I discussed this with my mother and told her that I would get it done for her. We hired them to remodel the upstairs bathroom for $8,833.00 and build a second bathroom downstairs for $8,272.00 for a total of $17,105.00. My mother signed the agreement with Ken on 10/28/2013. He told us that the downstairs would take 7-10 days and the upstairs would take 5-7 days. Today is 2/7/2014 and neither bathroom is complete and the work is horrible and I have plenty of pictures to prove it.

Let?s start at the beginning. The day my mother signed the agreement, Ken told us that they would be out on November 11th, which was 2 weeks later, because he said he had to get supplies shipped. They didn?t start until 3 weeks later and every morning they went to Home Depot so why did we have to wait 3 weeks for supplies to be shipped?

The downstairs bathroom took 6+ weeks to get where it is now and there are many problems with it including the shower doors leak, the caulking is cracked along the entire shower, the vanity is scratched because the workers used it to hold their tools. The towel rack fell off, the clothes hangers are uneven, the paint is chipping off the woodwork, the door is crooked, you can see the nails in the drywall on the ceiling and when I was at Lowe?s I saw the shower that was put in for $155 and that doesn?t include the discount the company gets. So we were charged a premium for cheap stuff.

The upstairs was started around 12/12/2013. The team that came in to demolish the bathroom did not put up a tarp so her house was a filthy, dusty mess. She has to have to have the ducts cleaned, furnace inspected and vacuumed, carpet cleaned, all the clothes on the lines downstairs washed, and take the time to have the curtains, blinds, and walls washed. Everything in the house had a film on it because they did not shut off the furnace. The door and door jam were dinged and chipped when they took out the old tub and shower. When they put in the new tub and shower, they cracked the wall on the other side. The walls in the bathroom are lumpy and there was about 2 dozen spots that stuck out like a sore thumb. They came back, sanded and painted and fixed a few spots. They came back, sanded and painted and fixed a few spots. There are still about 10-12 noticeable blemishes. Ken came out and said, ?Well this is a semi-gloss, I?m going to have the painter come back and put an eggshell finish on so you won?t see the blemishes.? REALLY? That?s not fixing the problems.

When Ken came out to inspect on another occasion and saw my mother?s woodwork, he asked Billy, ?Is that oak?? Billy said, ?Yes, after all she?s been through with us, I thought she deserved it.? Ken said, ?That cost more. We will talk about that later.?

They took the bathroom door to make the finish match the woodwork and when they brought it back, it looked like they used it as a sled. It was scratched and dented. They took it back and Ken had the audacity to tell my mother, it cost him $70. Your people scratched it and they didn?t take the closet door so the doors didn?t match.

Other problems that we have had include, 4-5 days of no one showing up and other days they would only show up for an hour. They stained the driveway from cutting the bathroom tile and not putting anything down to protect the cement. My deceased fathers screw driver sets were stolen. Their truck leaked oil in the driveway. They kept their tools and garbage here in the basement and garage for weeks until I said something to Ken.

It seems that every time they come out to fix something, 2 more things are broken or worse. One of the workers told my mother that none of them are certified in electrical, plumbing or heating and he did 80% of the work on the downstairs. She then asked 2 more workers if they were licensed or certified and they said no.

The workers did not know what they were supposed to be doing half the time. One of them told me to look at the downstairs bathroom and I asked where the shower doors were. He said, ?Oh, I didn?t know you were getting them.? So they went to the store and bought them. After the upstairs was gutted and the floor was done and tub put in, they either forgot or did not know they were supposed to move the heat vent. There was no communication from Ken to the workers about daily tasks or progress. They usually arrived at 7am but one morning the phone rang at 7:22am and Ken said that they would be a few minutes late. They were already 20+ minutes late. He said, ?What time do they get their? I thought they arrived between 7:30-8:00.?

I called a company out to give us a quote to fix and finish these bathrooms and he brought to our attention that Ken did not get permits or have the plumbing inspected when they dug into the cement downstairs. He wouldn?t even give us a quote until an inspector came out. Now we are stuck with half done, poor quality, illegal bathrooms.

I contacted a construction attorney and now we have to have an inspector and Brooklyn?s building commissioner come out. I was told that they will have to dig up at least some of the floor but probably demolish the entire bathroom to see the plumbing under the cement because there was no inspection and no pictures.

My mother is livid and I feel terrible because it was my idea and I found this company.

I will say that all the guys (Billy, Eric, Tim and Chuck) were very nice and friendly.

This company has done nothing but cost us money and give us headaches. BE CAREFUL and I will update after the inspector and building commissioner come out.

"I believe in complaints as much as the next person or company. Complaints help correct deficiencies and recognize problems that we may not have normally observed or even been aware of. Home remodeling is not a small or inexpensive task, considering all the variables and frequent changes in ideas, weather, supply or material availability. Instead of an online back and forth with this client I will prefer to stick with the old adage, “The Customer is Always Right”. I don’t believe it to be very customer service orient or productive to play tit for tat. I will however, say perfection should always be any company’s goal as should customer satisfaction. Although perfection can truly never be attained, satisfaction can almost to a certainty be achieved. Any problems or issues that may arise with work completed can achieve satisfaction by educating the customer and/or simply resolving any issues or problems at hand. Anyone who has dealt with any form of repair… home, yard, or mechanic understands that price is Always a concern as well as Quality of Workmanship. My employees and I have always and will always attempt to meet the expectations, goals, and when necessary the resolutions for any customer / client."

I gave Ken Adams all A's, but in reality he has disappointed me many times..........the first day I met him, he came across as an honest down to earth man, he sat on my couch and told me when my men start a job, they work everyday until the job is done, but that was a lie..........he started working on my bathroom and kitchen in June of 2013, they worked one week and tore my bathroom and kitchen down to nothing........they did a few things in my bathroom and a few things in my kitchen, the electrician came and upgraded my electricity, then after that it was whenever he felt like sending them to my house, my bathroom was far from being done and in my kitchen, all I had for a MONTH was drywall and new electrical outlets, no running water............when I called him to see when he was coming back, he always had some kind of excuse(typical contractor)...........In my opinion, Ken Adams does not have enough good people like Bill(projects manager) working for him, mostly laborers............if you are fortunate to get Bill, you will love him, he knows how to to ANYTHING and does everything perfectly............Plus, if you only have 1 man like Bill, it is impossible for him to be in 10 houses at one time........I found out that if you want the work done in a reasonable amount of time, you have to call Ken Adams about 10 times a day............he will put you on his whiner and moaner list, and then it will get done so he can get you off his back.........I know first hand because he did that to me several times, when Bill was supposed to come to my house, the laborer stayed and Bill left, when I asked the laborer where Bill went, the laborer told me Bill had things to take care of,NO, Ken sent him to another house to work...........I believe that if you have a small job to do(like just a bathroom) Ken will send the men over everyday until it is done.............just read some of his other reviews, they were all small jobs, $8000.00, $7000.00 jobs..................Mine was a $30000 job, and he took his good old time doing mine..............NOW, when everything is done, You will love everything, his prices are very good for the quality you get.............I HIGHLY recommend SLATE counter tops, and GRANITE walls and floors, they make your house look very ritzy and the prices for the SLATE and GRANITE are very reasonable...............I am having Ken do more work in my house, when that gets done, only GOD knows for sure, one might say after all the bad things you said about him, why are you having Ken do the work?........His prices are lower than any other contractor I talked to and I LIKE the finished product.............
We wanted to share our experiences that we had working with "Dream Works Home Improvement", from Strongsville Ohio.
we were very impressed with Ken Adams, "General Manager" how professional he is and he has personality plus, not to mention his more then fairly quoted price.
His lead foreman came out the night before to look over our roof and introduce himself to us.
The roofing crew showed up on time, for work the next day, they worked very well together like a well oiled machine. each guy knew his job and did it. The whole crew was polite and did everything in a timely fashion. When completed their work, they cleaned up like they where never there, except the fact that we had a beautiful new roof.
If you had a rating scale of 1 to 10, I would have to give Ken and his crew a 20+.
First off I would like to say, OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE and Quality Workmanship!!!

I contacted three (3) contractors all of which seemed pleasant however the sales man / owner Ken Adams was by far the most personal ("real") contractor we spoke with. The estimates were comparable with Dream Works fitting right in the middle, you get what you pay for, and it was well worth it!! I would also like to point out that the work was done in my mothers Lakewood Home and the main worker, Bill was very polite. My mother liked them so much she practically cooked the guys dinner before they left.
I hope that anyone who contracts Dream Works experiences the same warmth, customer service, and quality work we received.

Ken Adams and his workers were great to work with. They were polite, attentive to suggestions and requests, and did a great job. They were always neat and left the work site clean. They finished in the time frame we discussed, and they were very patient and kind to our two dogs that were very interested in the project. I have already asked Ken to start another project. I highly recommend Dream Works!

They arrived promptly and were informative through the entire process. It was a difficult job due to the previous work that existed in the home previously. After the repair was complete the team cleaned up the job and I was very satisified with the job. I also had the team out to do some plumbing and again completed to my satisfication. I will continue to use the Dreamworks team for all repairs and projects- I am planning on having a bathroom remodel and they will be the ones I call upon due to the quality and professionalism they own. Thanks Mr. Ken Adams- Look forward to working with you in the future.
