Terrible. They were late everyday. They did not have correct tools or equipment. One worker " fell " through our ceiling. Three day job took three weeks and when inspector came out there was 10 code violations. We hired another company to fix violations and it was then we were told we were overcharged at least $4000. Owner even yelled at my husband !!! Disaster!

They are just down the street. They are a little bit on the expensive side. That's the only reason I give them a B. I give them an A in all categories with the exception of a B in pricing. I might look around to get some quotes.

Our furnace died less than 2 weeks before Christmas. We promptly checked Angie's List for a reputable company to inspect, determine the problem and provide an estimate. We had it inspected by one company (not running any current deals). They explained that the 34 year old mother board was dead and not replaceable. We then contacted D&R regarding their $1899 advertised special deal.
They sent out a service person to give us an estimate. Although he was certainly personable and seemingly professional, we were stunned hear their estimate of more than TWICE their advertised special. When I pushed for the specific reasons behind the surprising high estimate, I was shown all sorts of "additional" things related to the furnace that were "wrong" and "must be corrected". I asked repeatedly, "Is that actually required to pass inspection?" I was told repeatedly, "Yes, that's all wrong and won't pass now". I could not have been clearer in trying to distinguish between installation issues that this particular service person would LIKE to do differently (e.g. the configuration of the gas pipe feeding the furnace, the appearance of the wiring powering the furnace, the appearance of the intake vent, etc.) vs. changes that would be required to pass inspection now. I was told this would all HAVE to be fixed, hence the massive additional cost.
At this point, we called the company who did the original inspection and determination of the problem and had them come out and give us another estimate. With no reference to these OTHER concerns, they gave us a flat $2500 bid, all inclusive. This was $1000 less than the D&R bid so we went with them.
Our new furnace is now working perfectly, the house is warm again, and guess what?? NONE of those additional changes cited by D&R were required in order to pass inspection. NOT ONE!
In addition to the BS add-ons to their "deal", the D&R service person claimed to know nothing about the advertised deal. He even called his office and said THEY knew nothing about it, that it was way too low and that "it shouldn't be on Angie's List at that cost". (but it still appears to be on here as of 1/2/16)
I don't normally write reviews on here, but I feel completely jacked around by this company, and I don't appreciate receiving untrue answers to my questions. From their other reviews, they clearly have done good work at times, but I would highly recommend a 2nd opinion any time they give you an estimate.
They were fabulous. They were wonderful. They gave excellent service. They kept their word and gave me an appointment right away and they did everything they said they would do. The man who came to the house showed me somethings about the heater and the air conditioner he cleaned a part which he was not obligated to do.

I don't know how to describe the trauma but I would not use them again. They were nice but between them and the electrician started a big fight on the job. They apologized and said that he will give me a gift card but that never happened. I don't think it is a norm for them on it because we have used them in the past to fix the old heat pumps. The price went above but they're friendly. On the job, I just don't know what to say and it just didn't work out for me. They're yelling at me and telling me what to do.

10/7/2014 Still never got the gift card. Also called 2 weeks ago asking for receipts for each unit and that has not come or a phone call from them.

Response from D & R Heating & Air
"While it is unfortunate that this happened the argument was generated by the electrician by doing work and overcharging the customer by over $2,000.00. When the customer called the office we immediately went on sight to discuss the issue with the electrician however the electric company indicated to our personnel that they did not have to listen to them. At that time the owner of the electric company was called and we walked thru the job with him to show what work was needed. However, in effort to apologize for the commotion we did send out a gift certificate. We were not aware that it had not arrived. Unfortunately for everyone this happened, however to eliminate the chance of it happening again we had the electricians work directly with us, and in the meantime we saved the customer at least $2,000.00. We sincerely hope that this customer would work with us in the future."

I had one of D&R Heating's technicians to my house on 7/15/14 for an A/C diagnostic service which they quoted me as $95. I told D&R that my A/C was running continuously for 2hrs before the compressor would shutdown and not restart for at least another 2hrs. In addition, the air coming out of the registers upstairs was not very cool or forceful and the house was not cooling below 78 degrees. A new 3 ton compressor had been installed by D&R in May of last year, 2013, for my 2200sf house . I suspected a freon leak. The technician found nothing wrong with my compressor but did adjust the 2nd floor supply air damper which was partially closed and removed a 1st floor return air blockage which I installed in an attempt to draw more return air from the 2nd floor. Things have improved but my compressor is still shutting down by itself after 2 hours which was the original problem and the house is still not getting cooled below 78 degrees. The technician was at my house for over 2hrs and wanted to charge me an additional $150 for one hour of labor, but I told him that I only agreed to the $95.diagnostic service. The technician said he needed to inspect the compressor when it shut down by itself and would return the next day if I still had a problem. When I called D&R to tell them that the original problem still existed, I talked to a woman by the name of Deanne who seemed convinced that there was no problem with the compressor and that the problem was due to the blockage of one of the 2 return air ducts. This woman was very rude and kept talking over me. When I explained that the technician should have found the cause of the compressor shutting down while he was at my home for over 2 hours and told her to quit talking over me, she hung up the phone on me. I will not use this company in the future.
We were pleased to see this special since D&R Heating had done the installation in 2008. Kory was the service tech and he arrived on time. He was extremely thorough in checking the furnace, heat pump and the thermostats for both of our zones. The heat pump was low on refrigerant. Kory topped it off, checked its operation with the thermostat, checked the furnace exchanges to see if our ducts needed cleaning, and gave us some pointers on our furnace/heat pump operation. We were very impressed with his work.
Furnace stopped working Sat evening, called and scheduled for next day service call. Corie showed up on time. He was courteous and professional. After a few minutes of checking various connections, he diagnosed the problem(loose connection). After fixing the problem and making sure it was working correctly, he cleaned up his work area, and left.

Very VERY unclear about charges and we feel like we were taken advantage of. We asked if they could come take a look and repair our heat- they said no problem and gave us a quote for $375 total, After we agreed to use them we were charged nearly triple!! When we asked why we were overcharged on our invoice we told that it was before additional work had been done- again without any kind of agreeement on our part. I will not be using D&R again.
Labor: we were charged for the initial visit to get a quote and a 20 mile trip to a warehouse to get a part after the fact (no notice of what we would be paying prior to them doing this).
Parts: $335 for the part (which I found for only $126 and could have mailed overnight for MUCH less).

Two D&R employees appeared on time - in fact, they were able to come over the very day I called. They were very jovial (almost had an Abbot & Costello comedy routine going; quite amusing) and fixed things up quickly. It turned out the problem was simple and not too expensive, and that's how they dealt with it. Would happily hire them again.
