I contracted with Darryl Ring based upon work he had done with others and good references. He painted the exterior of my house. It began peeling after 12-18 months. I got him to come back after several months of calling. He came out finally and said he would fix it but then never showed up after continued missed appointments over an equal period 912-18 months). During the middle of that he lost his business partner, so I gave him time to recover. But still he never delivered. Finally, I let him know that I was calling another crew and would seek recovery of the costs. I called another crew to scrape his work and redo (for a lower price!). I took him to court finally to get some compensation for that (it was a big concession and still he has only partially paid). I am now seeking garnishment/lien through the Frederick County district court (they gave judgment to my claim, but Darryl is now again making empty promises to make full payment). I think he relies on word of mouth to get new business. If you read this and still want him to quote your job, I would get multiple quotes for sure. Check recent references and online ratings. If you still go with him, hope it all goes well because his honesty and reliability to stand by his work is horrible. He website says he is licensed in MD, but he is not (check with MD licensing bureau - I did recently and let the license bureau know).

We found him through a referral. He did a very good work and very high quality paint job and kept everything very clean. He does great work. He's a little expensive. We called him for a bid recently but we haven't had the work done and he may not get it because he is higher than other people but the one thing that I would be absolutely certain if he did the work, it would be done right. I'd use him again if I wanted absolute guarantee of quality.

<p>In January 2011, we contracted with Mr. Darryl Ring of Darryl Ring Painting LLC to remove, clean, sand, and refinish the cabinets in two bathrooms.  He removed the doors and drawers and took them away for the work.  After about 2 ½ weeks Mr. Ring returned the finished doors and drawers.  They were completed to our satisfaction.  However, we were <strong>extremely dissatisfied</strong> with the care that Mr. Ring subsequently used in treating our home while he performed the work to stain the cabinet frames.  </p> <p>First Problem: The contract specified that ?all floors and furniture will be covered and protected?.  Without covering our recently installed hardwood floors, Mr. Ring brought in a large machine (the size of a floor sander) to apply lacquer to the cabinet frames, and proceeded to roll the machine on the floors.  Since Mr. Ring did not cover them, we said we would need a few minutes to use our own drop cloths to cover them.  He became impatient, spoke very rudely, and said that it was not necessary because the lacquer was securely contained within his ?very expensive? machine.  During this exchange, he threatened to leave.  As we went about covering the floor, he went about the work in the bathrooms.  About 20 minutes later, we discovered that there were numerous spots of hardened lacquer on the hardwood floor.  After we showed Mr. Ring what he had done, he and his assistant spent about 45 minutes using different methods in their attempts to remove the lacquer.  Although they were able to remove a good amount of the spots, some spots still remain. It was very annoying that Mr. Ring never expressed an apology, never accepted responsibility for the damage, and acted as if it never happened.    </p> <p>Second Problem: Mr. Ring completed the re-installation of the cabinet doors and drawers and the staining of the cabinet frames.  After I had looked at the finished job and was in the process of paying Mr. Ring, my wife looked at the job and saw that the staining of a side cabinet panel in the rear was very shoddy.  Mr. Ring said that he was aware that it looked bad (although he neglected to tell us).  He attributed the bad staining on the material that the panel was made of, and said that he had <strong>not</strong> noticed that it was made of that material before he started staining it.  After having been paid in full, he said that he would send someone back to remedy the problem.  After 3 months and many e-mail exchanges, Mr. Ring has not sent anyone to resolve the problem. The last exchange was on May 16 when Mr. Ring said he would speak with someone that day about coming to resolve the problem (a promise he had made several times before).   As in previous instances, we never heard back from him. </p>
