Ed and sons concrete

It didn't go. Mailed a letter to him on November 3 asking for my deposit back, haven't heard one thing.

Ed started out strong, only a week behind start date. His apprentice Randy worked really hard and was helpful. During the project he put off work days due to weather, truck, no cement, etc.. He moved along saying it would take a week, 10 days, couple weeks. On the day of the last pouring of cement he stated he was broke, I made the big mistake of paying him his final payment. He made the entrance to the drive way from the road several inches high, it's a bump and serious trip hazard, said he does it all the time. He left the forms on for over a week and debris. I called him several times and his mail box is full. I called from another number and he answered. He got upset and began to yell. He stated it was not his fault he was not there the past few days, truck issues. I told him enough and he was able to get to the site that day. He shaved the cement to make it less of a bump. This looks terrible and thinned the concrete where it might crack now. He did clean up but I will have to finish it. He is not a man of his word. If you hire him watch him and don't pay him his last payment till you are satisfied. I will be following up with the BBB and county to make sure what he left is acceptable. I don't want a law suit.

The actual job went great. Ed (he prefers Ralph) and his helper had it completed in about 3.5 hours after the concrete truck arrived. For reference, Florida homes built in the 80's often had a "garden" space in the lanai (patio) concrete slab. My ultimate goal is to have thin pavers put in, and I wanted to have more usable square footage. I also wanted to have the outer corner of the slab supported since the only thing holding it together is my birdcage. Due to bad design and drainage the corner was just hanging in the air. The area was filled and a footer poured under the trouble area. It was a small job and trying to get anyone to look at it and give me a reasonable price was difficult. I had four contractors look at it and received two estimates....Ed & Sons was by far the lower of the two and it turned out nicely. Ralph has tremendous concrete experience, and is a very down to earth, honest guy. The only hitch was scheduling and communication. We had a couple of miscommunications regarding date of work.

Great no problems

They were very good, prices was good, and clean up after themselves. I was quite happy with it and I recommended them to my neighbors.

It went fine and I've use them for a long time.
