Ed Shook replaced our roof and did an excellent job. He is very professional, knowledgeable, honest and experienced. We enjoyed working with him. He was kind enough to give us references to other service providers for other work. We definitely would recommend him to other people.

"I appreciate your great review and kind words. We only use professional roofers. Keep in mind that the last hurricane or should I say two hurricanes that came through we received approximately 50 calls for leaking roofs. Not one of them leaked because of bad shingles, they all were put on unprofessionally and lacked safeguards for long-term performance. The shingle itself is very stable and rarely has any problems so make sure your first priority is to get good professional work. We like to educate our customers by showing them all the important details on how to put on a long lasting professional roof. We like to text pictures to our customers as the roof progresses to create trust and understanding. Thank you again for your review."

Ed was very professional. He explained why the roof needed repair and what needed to be done about it. He provided an estimate and that was the final bill. He went the extra mile to make sure that the roof was covered prior to a pending snow event.. The workmen were efficient and cleaned up after job completion, Ed came back to check to make sure the work was done well.

"Thank you for your great review. Roof shingle materials rarely fail and its almost always the workmanship. The customer had a very good shingle but was not professionally installed. They used a pattern not recommended by he manufacture, especially on a low slope roof. The water was migrating in because of the slow drainage. We put new shingles with water guard reinforcing membrane. I'm happy everything is working. I carry a book showing proper installation of the roof shingle. Labor day weekend, this year, we were hit with a nasty hailstorm. I thought we had escaped unscathed but, then, my neighbors started saying that they needed to have their roofs replaced. That was when I, begrudgingly, figured that it was in my family's best interest to have professionals examine the roof. I hate the process of finding a contractor. Most of them, even if they respond initially, never get back to me. Perhaps it's because I'm female and they don't take me seriously (joke's on them because I execute all of the major financial decisions in my household), but I also suspect that there has been an increasing lack of integrity in the contractor profession, as a whole. Anyway, I never got this feeling from Ed Shook. He is the type of person who makes you think that he actually wants your business and wants to prove that he can do a good job. From day one, he was responsive, respectful, and fair. He responded to our first call the day that we made it, and he showed up prepared with lots of information, pictures of previous jobs, and even a list of other houses that he had worked on in the area. He was more than willing to work with what our insurance company required. Anytime that I contacted him, I could expect a response within the same day. Most importantly, he and his crew did an excellent job on our roof. It only took one day and it looks fantastic. I recommend Ed Shook Jr. Contracting with no reservations, at all. And it's nice to actually have the opportunity to finally say that about a contractor! Thank you, Ed!

Ed was very responsive to my request for a quote. His team was able to work our job in very quickly. His team completed the job in the estimated time frame and did a nice job cleaning up afterwards. We have been happy with the workmanship. Some time has passed since the roof was installed and no issues have surfaced. The estimated price was very competitive and the actual price did not exceed the estimate.

Ed Shook replaced our roof after we detected a leak during the very, very soggy January of 2015. He came out to our house when everyone else we called was out for the holidays, and we are so glad he was ultimately the one who responded to us! He discovered that our leak was due to faulty installation of the shingles from the previous roofing job--he wound up putting a new roof on and replaced all of the roof decking in the damaged section. All of this was completed within days of our original phone call to him. I can't emphasize enough how pleased we were with his service. He was responsive, extremely fair and honest, his price was great, and best of all he was quick with his work when we needed it the most. He even let me contact him when we had a question about the roof when we sold our house later that year. He provided prompt feedback and validated the work he did when we presented it as part of an inspection report. Truly a great guy, and I have continued to recommend him to others in our area.

I cannot say enough good things about Ed Shook Contracting, Inc. I was completely beside myself Monday night when, during a storm, my daughter noticed a series of ripples cascading down an interior wall in our two-story great room. My husband got on the ladder out in the rain and found that we had a piece of rotten wood along the roofline next to the chimney and that the roof was actually bowed in on that spot. We covered it with some plastic and duct tape, and I immediately got on our neighborhood listserv and saw that Mr. Shook came highly recommended by a neighbor. I then went to Angie's List and saw Mr. Shook's fantastic rating, and decided to send him an email from his website right then and there. This was approximately 9 o'clock on Monday night. Needless to say, I did not sleep well that night worrying about the water damage in the wall and what was going on with the roof in the rain! <br>Early the next morning, Mr. Shook called. He said he was working in my zip code that day and would come by around 10am. He came on time, went straight up the ladder and assessed the problem, and reassured me that everything would be fine. By 2pm, his men were onsite. By 4:30pm, my roof was fixed! I was elated! <br>While up there, he also assessed the roof, added a ridge vent and tacked down roof tiles so that my 17 year-old roof will remain solvent (hopefully) until at least its 25th year. He did all of this for only $350. <br>I believe that Mr. Shook is truly the best in the business. I'd call him again in a heartbeat, and I plan on recommending him to all of my family and friends. This was a great experience- start to finish. <br /> I developed a leak in my 27 year old roof. I called Ed based on the great reviews on this site. <br /> Ed returned my phone call promptly.- within 2 hours of my call .He came to assess my roof within a few days. He got up on my roof and took several pictures. He explained what my problems were. He said he could fix my leak and I didnt necessarily need to replace right away but that I had other issues of wear that were going to give me problems in the future. I opted to replace. <br /> Ed and his crew were on sight when they said they would be and worked when they said they would and finished on time.. They were professional and efficient. They totally cleaned up when they were finished and my roof is beautiful! <br /> I totally recommend this company. <br />

Ed came out very quickly to inspect our roof leak and found the issue was with a poor repair near the chimney from the previous home owners. Our chimney is very wide creating a lot of surface area for water to run up against. He got me in the schedule very quickly and he did the repair right. Installed proper water proofing and metal flashing and sealed it all up very well. <br /> In the process of the repair, the crew accidentally damaged something down on the ground near the chimney. I won't go into all the details, other than to say Ed went above and beyond to make it right. Things go wrong. What's important to me is a service provider that does the right thing in these moments. Ed certainly did that and more. <br /> We would definitely use Ed again for future needs. <br />

This was a dream roof replacement. We left town on Saturday and returned the next Wednesday. In that span of time Ed's crew ripped off the old roof, put on the new one, repaired rotted trim and had the gutters replaced. When we returned, it was like magic had taken place. You would never have known the crew had been there except everything was new. Ed texted us pictures and a few questions while we were traveling so we could see the progress. He is very responsive, and I would hire him again and again. <br />

Ed personally came out to give an estimate, showing up on time. He was also present when his roofers performed the repairs. The best part about using this company is they were able to save and reuse the original shingles, as new shingles for this style were no longer available. They also performed some other preventative maintenance and sealing in other areas of my roof. Their clean up was perfect and were finished in about 2 hours. The final product looked great and I was charged exactly what I was quoted. I think Ed Shook Jr. Contracting did a great job on my roof repair for a great price. I plan to use them for any future repairs or when I need a new roof. <br />
