Mr. COTRELL talked me thru the whole process, explaining total costs including install, availibility and when he would be able to complete work and expectations for unit and air quality. Took less than a week...I'm happy,my tenants are happy.. Overall great experience. Give him a call!!

The communication and quality of business with this company is extremely poor. I would absolutely NOT recommend them to anyone I know. The first day I called Denny he got back to me right away, and told me what he thought the problem was, great. Then he said he would come to my house, but I would need to sign a binding contract for the work. This made me a little nervous considering he hadn’t even seen my house yet, but I went ahead. He came the next morning and evaluated the situation and had me sign the contract with my credit card info immediately for the EZ Breathe System. I was still trusting that he was the expert at this point. He told me it would take about a week for the system to come in and then he could install it afterwards. I told him I would be out of town when the system would be coming in, so I was fine with waiting until the week after for installation, which he agreed to also. Here it was that following week on Monday evening and I had not heard from him about installation. I left a voicemail that evening and received a text that he was having a “mechanical failure” and wouldn’t be able to install it until the following Monday— did not have the common courtesy to call me back. Once again here it was the following Monday morning and I had not heard from him about when installation would be, I again had to be the one to initiate communication to ask. After I had just worked a 13 hour night shift, Denny said installation would be at 11AM that day. I decided to stay awake and wait for that to happen, no one showed up at my house until 1PM without any communication what so ever that they would be late. They were completely unprepared that afternoon and left my house twice to “go get parts”. If this is a system you routinely install, how do you not know what parts you need?? I was also initially told this installation was “easy” and would only take about an hour and a half to install. It took the two women 4+ hours that evening and they said they would have to come back later to finish. In my contract, it is checked off that I would have the mold fogging completed. So, when I asked about that, apparently that had to be set up at a different time (not to my knowledge) ...and that myself and my pets would need to be out of the house (also not to my knowledge). My husband called Denny that night to ask questions about the system and about the overall work that had been completed. There was an extra hole drilled into the side of the outside of the house that was not utilized. The brackets on the system were drilled in too far and were cracked. Additionally, they did not hard wire the system into our breaker box. The power cord for the system was the only thing utilized, which was not long enough, so the power cord was left dangling from the power outlet, potentially leaving us in a dangerous situation. My husband called three separate times and left three voicemails. Denny once again did not have the decency to return the phone calls to address these concerns, instead we received a text saying something along the lines of “today was no indication of the quality of work we do, it was a cluster”. Well Denny, I can tell you that day was indeed the quality of work you and your company perform because you never fixed the issue and couldn’t call us back. The mold fogging was still never completed to this day. The job was never fully completed, and this is completely unacceptable. We still have not received any communication from Denny or any sort of apology for the absolute mess of a situation this was. I was trying to support a local business and this was incredibly disappointing.

"There was a great deal of miscommunication on your installation of a basement ventilation system. It was a harder than normal install and we apologize for that. We do not short change customers. If you feel we haven’t fogged your basement enough, we will take care of that. We will return and do this again at no charge. Please call our line to set up a date to have this done. We hope this resolves the issue."

Looks good now. Time will tell if the efflorescence will return. I thought the price was a bit high for approximately 1 1/2 days of work by one employee.

Denny recommended coating the walls with epoxy to seal the blocks and also an E•Z Breathe® Air Ventilation System. He and his coworker did a fine job, even going out of the way to coat the wall behind the oil tank. Due to the new ventilation system, we've already seen an improvement in the air quality in our home and notice that the basement smells fresh now. And we no longer have to run a dehumidifier! We'll certainly call them again if any further work is needed.

They did a very good job. They were much more responsive when they were trying to sell me than they were after I was sold and gave them the job. They showed up when they said they would and they finished when they said they would. I was disappointed because I wasn’t told until they job was being done that they were going to use a sub contracted. The company Cottrell was there to bid the job and collect the check. The rest of it was done by a sub-contractor. The subcontractor did a good job. I was never informed that they would be sub-contracted until somebody showed up who I thought was an employee of Cottrell and when I saw the baseball cap they were wearing with a competitors name on it and I said whey are you wearing their cap and he said I actually work for them. I think they should inform the clients that of they are going to use a subcontractor ahead of time. That is my only criticism. They did a good job and everything was done fine. I was disappointed that the only thing that Cottrell did was bid on the job and comeback and collect the check. It was in the spring and I ask the contractor to not drive on the yard because it was soft and I turned my back and he drove on the yard to save a couple minutes of time and I still have rots in my yard. I believed they were here for 2 full days. He said I thought I could got away with it, he was stuck that he had get another truck come to pull him out with chains. I know my yard so if I told him you shouldn’t drive there you shouldn’t drive there.

"[Member Name Removed], Thank you for the review. I know you are a business owner as well, sometimes we out source. This crew we have used under our direction for at least 4 years. It is quit difficult to maintain full time work in a high specialized field like ours. Its actually impossible. The craftsmanship is our craftsmanship. I recall your enthusiasm regarding your project. I do apologize for your yard. I wish you would have called the office when this had happened for us to deal with it. Again I greatly appreciate your review. It shows we need to educate the homeowner just a little more. Normally I'm hands on with this crew since you know I was the one that dug the egress holes. Both of them myself. I had another responsibility and the crew made good time. And thats the only reason I wasn't actually on the job for your project as i usually am. Enjoy your peace of mind now knowing you have a exit form your basement in case of fire."

Our experience with Cottrell basement waterproofing was very positive. We obtain quotes from three different companies & and although Cotrell was not the least expensive, the pump system that they use is unique from the other two companies we quoted against. Denny Cottrell, the owner, was very informative and insightful. In addition to the installation of a drainage system for basement, Denny also discussed with us to the benefits of the EZ breathe system which we also purchased to complement the air quality and prevent humidity in the basement. His crew finished the job earlier than anticipated, in only two days, and also offered a cleaning service which was not discussed prior tto contract . We would highly recommend Cottrell basement waterproofing!
Took out concrete 14" along wall area, then placed a drain pipe with a barrier between new concrete and wall. It was a lot of work but done professionally and neatly. We are so pleased with not having to worry about the forecast rain; also, the peace of mind the battery-operated sump pump gives is wonderful. We are very pleased with the work Denny has done; during the past year. we have had a dry basement floor!
It did not go well. He came to my home and looked at it. Part of the deal would include a proposal and there was supposed to be like some elevations of the foundation of the house and they never got that. I waited a month and I called him and he said he was really busy with all these Angie's List big deals and he had fallen behind and he would get to me when it was possible and he never did. I sent him an email, he never responded and I have seen him advertising new deals since then but he never completed what was supposed to be included in mine. He did come out and look at it but he never provided the information. He didn't complete it. The big deal did say that that proposal in the elevation was included in the deal. I was very disappointed in that. I didn't really get anything for my money. When I first made the appointment for him to come and look at it, he was very responsive but then after the day he came, I guess he didn't want to do the job but he could have said it. When he did come, he was punctual for the appointment. He was professional when he was in my house but I don't consider professional to just leave somebody hanging.

"(removed member name), Thank you so much for your review! I'm very sorry the connection was lost. I recall you hardly being at home much due to work. And i recall trying to reach you via phone and email afterwards. Your basement surely does need waterproofed as I'm sure you agree. I would like to just start over. Our company did some major restructuring since we came to your home. And that has resulted in us lowering our prices to our community. If you could please look at your schedule to see when its possible to have us back to your home again, and when you have time you could set aside for the scheduling of the job. I know your schedule is extremely hectic. Email me at cottrellbasementwaterproofing@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you !"

When speaking with the owner who does initial interview he was A+. He explained in detail what was going to happen and why, how it would be done and the materials to be used. He answered all questions and never acted like I was being dumb about any of the questions I had - which was very nice.
The workers were very prompt and finished the project promptly. The work that they did was very good work and professionally done. I have no complaints about the work that was preformed at all.
My problem was the workers treated me with the attitude that I was bothering them with my questions and that I was being dumb about my questions - which I really hate. They expected me to hook the washing machine hoses back up and when I asked them to show me how since I have never done that before they responded you just hook hot to hot and cold to cold. I had to ask two more times to have them actually show me since the hoses nor the hookups were marked hot and cold.
It was indeed simple to do however if you've never done it before you do need to be shown what to do. They cleaned up the concrete pieces but they did not sweep the floor inside the house where they walked in and out so I was left to clean that dirt up myself. Basically it was the interaction with the two head workers that was the problem.
I would probably use them again since the job was done professionally and very well but I would address this issue with the owner before the work was started so it didn't happen again.
