<p>They could have had better communication. I live in Noblesville, but the work was in Indianapolis. I asked him to let me know what days he was going to be there so I could be there. He did not follow through with letting me know when he was there and then there were other days he said he would be there and did not show up.  </p>

They completed the work that I wanted to be done. My only problem was one of the guys working for Mr. Decker when he put the shade in the thing for my electricity said there was a hairline fracture in the shade and it broke, so I had to replace that. They could be more careful installing certain things, they said it was defective anyways.

I was very satisfied with their work. They were very cooperative. They did things that many people wouldn't do like hauling away stuff, moved the furniture outside, covered it up good, and came back in put back in. They were very professional. They were honest in what they did. They would tell me what they could and couldn't do. I was most satisfied with their work. They were dependable and worked real good.

Derrick came to give me an estimate to replace two sets of concrete entry steps that were crumbling. While he was here, we discussed the deals he had on Angie’s List, and he agreed to let me buy one or two of his deals to apply to the cost if I decided to have him do the work. When I received his estimate, the deal we discussed was no longer available. He agreed (in email) that I could purchase the driveway apron installation deal and apply the value to work I was having done. The deal cost $2250 and was worth $2500. The estimate to remove and replace the steps, replace two vents in my basement with concrete blocks, weld an old coal door shut, and repair missing mortar on the block under my breezeway was $2658.99. I agreed and purchased the deal on May 4th, 2016. The work started on July 13th. I told him that my mom would be arriving on 7/23/16, and I wanted the steps ready before she arrived because she has back and leg problems, and I didn’t want her falling. He assured me it would be done this week. When he looked at it, he said that he would need to add an extra step in order to have the steps be to code. He told me code was 6.5”, and my old steps were taller. He said that he would have to cut a small section from my stamped concrete walkway to make room for the step. I told him that I loved the walkway and did not want it damaged in the process. He assured me that this would be done without damaging the walkway. The old steps were broken up, and badly rotting wood was exposed under my front door. Derrick did not mention this to me and left the area exposed, despite severe weather predicted that evening. I found the damage myself and noticed that openings in the wood were big enough for insects, mice, chipmunks, and rain to go into my basement. My neighbor was able to cover it with plastic, secured with wood, before the storm arrived. I talked to Derrick that night, and he said he could fix the damage. I asked what caused it and what the cost to repair it would be. He said the price “wouldn’t be too bad.” He did not show up the next day, and when I called, he said, “Didn’t you get my message?” He said his parents had a water problem and he needed to help them, but he would be at my house later that day. He never arrived or let me know he wasn’t coming. I called him on Friday morning, and he said he would be here at 10:00. He arrived at 11:15 and looked at the problem. He said it wouldn’t be too hard or expensive to repair. I, again, asked for a price, and he said he’d let me know. He said he would be back after I finished work at 5 to do the repair. He texted at 4:25 that he wasn’t coming because his workers wanted to go home. He said he’d be back at 9:00 on Saturday to do the work, and he could do it from the outside of my house since I would not be there. He also said he would have a price for me then. I told him that I would be close and would come home if he needed to get inside. He did not show up. I texted at 12:00 to ask if he was coming, and he did not respond. I texted again on Sunday, asking if he would here on Monday (7/18/16). He did not respond. I called on Monday and left a message asking if he was coming. He sent a text at 11:00, saying it had been pouring rain and he was on his way. The rain had actually stopped by about 9:00 that morning. He texted at 2:00 that there was too much rain, and he would be back on Tuesday. I called at 9:30 on Tuesday asking when he will be here, and he said in 1 hour. He arrived at 11:40. When he arrived, I told him that I was very frustrated that he had been late or had not shown up every day for the last week, and that it was inconvenient for me to wait around for him. He said, “I’m bad at communicating,” and agreed to keep me posted on when he will be here. I asked him for the price of the extra work again, and he said he was working on it but it wouldn’t be too much. He worked on Wednesday and Thursday and said that the concrete would be poured on Friday, 7/22/16. I reminded him that my mom would be here on Saturday, 7/23/16. He said we would be able to walk on it when she gets here. He did not show up on Friday or Saturday. I texted, reminding him that he said it would be ready when my mom arrived. He did not respond. He arrived on Monday, 7/25/16 at about 1:15, after I was already working. He did not show up or contact me on Tuesday, 7/26/16. He worked a few hours on Wednesday. He sent an estimate and a bill for $1400 for the additional work that night. On Thursday, he did not show up. He texted that the concrete would be poured on Friday, 7/29/16, and he wanted to be paid the $1400. I told him that I would not pay any more until after the work was all completed and that I would have to pay with a credit card. I said that I was frustrated with the cost because I had asked multiple times and he only told me it wouldn’t be too bad. Considering the initial work estimate was about $2600, I was not expecting “not too bad” to be over $1000. I told him that I would have gotten other estimates if he had given me any indication that he was going to charge so much. He did not show up on Friday to pour the concrete. I texted him that evening, and he replied that he moved it to Monday, 8/1/16, because of a chance of rain on Friday. I called Angie’s List about my concerns about being overcharged and Derrick not showing up when he said he would, dragging a short repair out for several weeks. The representative said I should tell him to stop work and file a report. I didn’t feel like I could do that, since he said he was delivering concrete that day, but I said I would cancel if he did not show up that day. He did come and pour the steps on Monday, August 1st. He said he would be back to remove the frames on Tuesday. He did not show up on Tuesday. He came on Wednesday and removed most of the wooden frames. There is still wood attached to my front steps. He texted on Thursday, 8/4/16, that he needed to “rub steps more” and clean my breezeway door. He said he wants money when he is done. He said that he could not take a credit card. I asked him why did not tell me that last week, as I do not have $1400 cash to pay him. I asked him to explain the $1400 total, since he did not breakdown the charges. I told him that the cost seemed excessive, increasing from $2659 to over $4000 with no warning. I acknowledged that I need to pay for the unexpected repairs, but the cost didn't seem reasonable to me. He said that he would look at his price and get back to me. He said we could walk on the steps. This was the day my mom left. He did not show up on Thursday or Friday. I was concerned about the appearance of the steps, and I had someone who works in construction come look at them. He said that both sets need to be redone. I texted Derrick on Sunday, 8/7/16, and told him that there are major concerns with the steps, and I did not want him to do anything else until I could get some guidance. I was waiting for the other person to write up the problems. I told him that I was concerned about the step being poured on top of my concrete walkway and that there were areas that sloped toward my house. The steps do not line up with my walkway. Additionally, there are large voids in the concrete near the bottom of both sets. Two of the steps on the breezeway set are about 7” tall, and Derrick previously told me that code was 6.5”. There are areas where concrete spilled out of the frame against my house. He responded that he was planning to grind and rub the steps and would cut a line in my walkway. He said there was no problem pouring on top of the walkway, and that everything sloped away from my house. He said he was going to clean my back door. I told him that he didn’t even clean my front door – he power washed paint off of my door trim, but left concrete and grease marks. I reiterated that I did not want him doing anything else yet. The steps look terrible. The side is not straight, the bottom doesn’t have a clear edge. The top of the front steps are poured on top of my vinyl siding, with no room to replace the J channel trim. After doing more research on p

I initially signed on to work with Derrick and the EGW folks through an Angie's List coupon that included 2 hours of concrete work or repair for $99.  When Derrick inspected the driveway section in question, he recommended a 5-step process that would give a longer life than a basic epoxy repair.  However, when they arrived on site the day of the job itself, in preparing the concrete for this 5-step process it was determined that there were too many hollow areas below the concrete pad and that a 2-part epoxy would be a more cost-effective approach considering the need for additional work not too far down the road.  They knocked that project out in a couple hours and Derrick said the $99 was good enough for that job. <br /> Derrick and EGW measured the driveway section that should be replaced and will be providing an estimate for the job.  If their estimate is competitive and the time is right, I will not hesitate to use them again. <br />

"I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to post such an informative review on Angie's List. Although we had to change our initial method of repair I felt that the two part epoxy was the best route for your particular circumstances. I did not feel it would have been cost effective for you to spend money on the more expensive longer lasting repair when unfortunately the concrete was not structurally sound and replacement is in evitable. I will provide your estimate for a future replacement as you've requested as soon as possible. It was a pleasure working with you. Best Regards. Derrick Decker, owner"

"Thank you for providing feedback regarding your experience with me. When I came initially to look at your project I had just started a lengthy job and advised you upfront that I would fit your repair in as soon as I had an opening in my schedule. After explaining this you assured me that this was acceptable with you. I'm sorry that I wasn't able at that time to give you a definite date and time for service and that you were unhappy in the timeframe that it took for me to complete your work. Customer satisfaction is very important to me and I hope that you even under these circumstances that you were satisfied with the work once completed. Thank you for allowing me to work on your project. Best Regards. Derrick Decker, owner"

The owner, Derrick Decker, was provided a high level of confidence that the job was being done properly.  The number of steps to correct my porch were more than I expected. As such, I am so pleased I hired a professional vice trying to attempt this job myself. The only issue was the first day;  Derrick did not contact me timely that he would not be at my home by scheduled time of 10 am on October 8. Subsequently,  I called Mr. Decker and he explained the delay. <br />

Derrick arrived promptly on Saturday morning with two assistants and got right to work.  There was quite a lot of the damaged area that had to be chipped away and removed before the new concrete was applied.  After sweeping up the debris, the new concrete was mixed and applied and given a brushed finish.  The wall now looks great!  Also Derrick extended the new concrete into another near-by crack; that was an extra unexpected but appreciated repair.  Also, they were very neat, cleaning up the area afterward.  Working with Derrick was a good experience and as we talked it was clear that he was knowledgeable about various types of concrete repair.  I recommend him to anyone needing concrete repair or replacement. <br /> <br />
