Contractor did not finish the project. Hillside steps were not completed. Pavers were never installed. Equipment and materials were left at work site.

Mike and his assistant arrived on time; spent the entire day installing a first-class system with Rain Bird and Hunter parts. All the pop-up sprinkler heads are mounted on flexible swing joints to prevent breakage. Because of the location of the main water connection to the house, they had to hand dig most of the yard. In spite of that, they did not really disrupt the lawn. Mike has warranted the system for one year for any manufacturer defects or improper installation problems. In spite of having spent almost 8 hours on the job, he was very patient, showing us how the timer and system works. We were very pleased to have chosen Dreamscapes.

After many promises to return and complete the job, Exterior Living - Dreamscapes ( Farid Khalil) - they never returned to complete and finish the job!! A year later - we still do not have a completed patio and the foundation has settled and we have an uneven patio.
It would have been tolerable if Remy hadn't stolen from us at the end of the experience.
Dealing with Remy Genot was the most frustrating experience you can imagine. Initially it was limited to him not getting back to us on details of the project. Everything was last minute with him. He has no ability to plan ahead. His communications became more and more limited. The pool was finally built but we had trouble with some of the equipment. This took forever to resolve. He blames the equipment companies but I'm sure it was his own lack of planning. Lastly, we ordered a winter cover for the pool and we provided a check to cover the cost of it. He never ordered the cover, cashed the check and stole the funds. Remy Genot and his wife Stephanie Genot are no better than common thiefs. She may be even worse as she was caught in bed with the company's office manager the SAME DAY the company's landlord evicted them from their office space. Unbelieveable. Never deal with Remy or Stephanie Genot in any business dealing unless you want to deal with thieves, dishonesty, and poorest customer service you can ever imagine. Bankruptcy to bankruptcy -- Remy has a recurring problem. Shy away from any business that associates with Remy or Stephanie Genot.
Not well. Two guys who started project had problems showing up on time, working more than 30 minutes w/o a smoke break or staying more than 4 hours a day. One day they didn't show up on time I called, the guy said he was at the BMV and probably wouldn't make it that day. Work started with linoleum removal, drywall patching and tile in master. Also supposed to be a small subfloor repair, but can't be certain (keep reading). Ceramic tile laid, was uneven & some grout lines didn't match. I complained, tile was pulled and re-done. Tile baseboard was created from scrap pieces, looked like crap & none of the grout lines matched the floor. Complained. Excuse was "you were moving and didn't want to spend more than necessary." True, but we hired them so it WOULDN'T look like a DIY hatchet job. New pieces cut and laid to match floor. During countertop install, walls were gouged. They patched and attempted to touch up the paint. Apparently you can't "touch up" semi-gloss, you must redo the entire wall. Didn't matter, the attempted touch ups still visible. Already there are visible cracks in the ceiling drywall patch (three months later) and the wall patches weren't sanded adequately. During work in master, second guy started prime/paint in main. Color we chose looked bad (think chocolate ice cream), we picked another and purchased two gallons. He didn't re-prime what was already painted, instead painted over darker with lighter. Our contract was "two colors, two coats" and that's what we got on a few walls. Only one coat on other walls and primer is still showing through. Told them main bath floor was uneven and would need leveling. Didn't matter. Tile was laid without effort to level floor, there was obvious valley in center of tiling. Old vanity/countertop was removed, some moldy drywall cut away. New vanity was set in, with NO replacement of drywall. Studs and insulation were visible, assumption is they planned on covering with side-pieces of countertop. I called Rick (contact) to complain. As above, excuse for not leveling floor was "you told us you were moving." First two guys pulled from job, Rick began fixing some problems himself (tile and leveling). Another guy fixed drywall, but when reinstalling vanity, valve on hot water inlet wasn't tightened properly, resulting in slow leak and 60+ gallons of water in crawl space, which I cleaned up (including ruined new insulation). Main bath also had drywall patches and attempts at paint touch-up (see above). When I asked about this, they blamed our "color change" as the reason touch-ups were so obvious. Some drywall patches in main weren't sanded, giving the wall rough look. Although there was supposed to be walk through before final charge was processed, that never happened. Credit card was charged even before I complained about main bath painting. There were other issues but I'm running out of space. Contact me for more info or to see the work.
Response from Elements Outdoor Living
"THIS IS THE OWNER OF DREAMSCAPES IN RESPONSE TO THE EVALUATION OF THIS PROJECT. WE MADE THE ORIGINAL CONTACT FOR THIS PROJECT BUT DID NOT HAVE TIME TO DO THE WORK OURSELVES. ONE OF OUR SUB-CONTRACTORS AT THE TIME, RICK, SUB-CONTRACTED THE WORK OUT TO HIS CONTACTS. THEY WERE NOT CONTRACTORS I HAD EVER USED AND THEY WERE FIRED AND NEVER USED AGAIN. SUBSEQUENTLY, RICK, DOES NOT WORK FOR US ANYMORE EITHER. THIS PROJECT DOES NOT REFLECT ON THE MANY PROJECTS WE HAVE DONE SINCE 1996. THE PROJECT WAS NOT OVERPRICED, AND WE DID ATTEMPT TO ENSURE RICK FINISH THE JOB PROPERLY. I WAS NOT AWARE OF ANYTHING UNSATISFACTORY AT THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT. IN FACT, WE WERE PAID IN FULL."
