OK except a few weeks later I noticed some roof tiles had come loose. When I emailed provider about it they would not respond.
It was fine. They did a good job. It took a couple of days to finish. They cleaned up when they were done.

John was very professional in his initial presentation regarding the roof coupon we bought on Angie's List. We subsequently decided to go ahead and use his company for the other services listed above. Since this review entailed more than the initial Angie's List Coupon, the contractor indicated that he would email me how to break out the Angie's List review into separate jobs, but did not and so it is all combined.
Roof 1.The crew was unfriendly and very sloppy- we had nails and single material left on our driveway and gutters- we paid for a home inspector to inspect the work - the resulting report indicated that the industry standard requires a space between the garage roof and the house siding and that this was not done properly - when we brought it to the attention of the contractor he readily agreed to fix the situation. The correction required flashing and a gap increase which was done by shortening the siding and roof shingles in that area. That work was uneven and required 2 additional trips, one to correct the uneven line and one to paint the exposed edges.
2. Siding replacement - we had the contractor and his crew back to our house or on the phone at least 4 or more times to give additional estimates for rotten siding.-we incorrectly assumed that all the major areas of damage would have been noted by the contractor and included on the original bid for the job. Some areas required up to 10-15 new boards. These additional areas cost several hundred additional dollars.
3. House painting, deck pressure washing and stain, siding repair, and wood repair - I gave the wood repair of my front porch and my windows an A
House preparation for painting - the pressure washing was done without any regard for covering my foundation landscaping and there was damage done by the clorox as evaluated by Davey Tree - the painters also broke several limbs off an existing 2 store pine tree, 2azaleas, and a mature butterfly bush. The owner would have agreed for the tree to be cut back off the garage wall but the other damage was just sloppy work.
The house overall looks very nice - A
The problems with the painters were over the top with them arguing with us at several points in the project. They painted the actual window panes from a lack of taping and/or skill and they painted into several of the window tracks that caused difficulty getting the windows up and down. The painters also sprayed fresh paint 4-5 feet onto both sides of the garage roofing. We had to bring all these problems to the contractor's attention rather then him monitoring his crew. The problems were satisfactorily corrected, but the exterior projects took weeks and weeks to complete.
4. The deck was not pressured washed before the new stain was applied and the owner brought this to the attention of the contractor as well as the lead painter, before the first stroke of stain was applied. The contractor agreed it was not done. They did not want to remove the stain and offered to replace the deck floor, which they did, but it was not in bad shape to begin with. The owner withheld $500 from the final payment for the completion of the deck power washing and restraining.
5. Rehanging the cabinets and doors - A
Recently discovered problem - the painters used our gas and offered to refill the gas tank which we thought they had done. This spring when this owner filled the riding mower with that gas, it completely stopped running within a few minutes. The service call of $149 indicated that the mower had a gas tank full of water. There would have been no way the water was the fault of the owner as the mower had been stored inside the garage after mowing season, which was before the painters completed their work. I notified the contractor of this situation in addition to the damaged landscaping. Four weeks ago I gave him two weeks to respond and as of this writing he has not.
The contractor is a very nice person and easy to deal with, but does not oversee his subs. We had the contractor's word, before signing the contract, that he was hands on and would be on site often to monitor his crews. The only time he came on site was if we called.

Response from Elite Home Preservation
"Easily the highest maintenance and most unreasonable client I have ever dealt with. Inspections on paint with binoculars, blaming others for items that were pre existing like the badly stained deck which was conveniently blamed on me/sub, intentionally putting gas in the lawnmower, killing plants, the list goes on.... I addressed every item they had question about without question with client reminding me every time that I wouldn't be paid unless I satisfied every insanely small detail of punch. I feel you are both liars especially with the deck( which was completely free-your existing deck was not new and you ruined it previous to my arrival by staining it yourself) lie 1, ruining my rep and expecting me to fix your lawnmower for "sabotaging" your gas-lie 2, you saying a home inspector was out to the house-lie 3, and that I am not hands on (18 trips to your home throughout the project) lie 4. As soon as I saw the binoculars, the condescending tone in both your voices, I should have run away. But as with every big deal I am obligated to satisfy insane clients so I can avoid a bad review.....shame on you both To all reading this by the way they paid the balance in full and were happy until I refused to fix their lawnmower and to remove trees for them now and in the future because the tree removal sheister said so. Not at all reflective of my quality of work or how clients are satisfied"

First of all they were slow in their response. They sent an e-mail that they received my request but were almost two week later when

before I received acknowledgement of when they could actually do the work that would fit into my schedule.

The representative of the company asked if we were having a problems or concerns with our roof. I should him an area where there was a small leak. He said he would not be able to inspect the whole roof for that amount we paid but would focus on the area that I should him. I did agree, what other choice did I have? He said he would take off caulking in that area and re-seal. I asked for a report of what he had done. I received a negative vague report on how much porch needed repairs which had nothing to do with my roof. I

was not satisfied with the service and would not use them again nor recommend them.
Response from Elite Home Preservation
"client, 1-your roof was very high and dangerous to climb, a supplemental fee to inspect the entire roof was required which you refused, therefore the whole roof WAS NOT inspected 2-we offered to help you out with the rotting front porch which you said you appreciated, since then you changed the story naturally 3-after we agreed to repair your front porch and had to reschedule too many times due to weather early this year, you then cancelled the repair previously agreed on 4-I have no recourse to tell the truth when someone is willing to tell lies over a $99.00 coupon 5-since Angieslist doesn't verify the truthfulness of the reviews I guess I am stuck with this review, but know this you are a LYING but I can do nothing about it"

He spent a long time with me, and was very pleasant in listening to my needs. It did take a while to get the sketch from him but I think there were some tech issues with the Angie's List contact system.
We did eventually connect and when I reviewed the sketch, I found there was a modification needed. I contacted the vendor and he responded in a few days with a revised plan.
His response time was a little sluggish. Regardless of whether it was due to technical difficulties, or anything else, I'm not overly enthused to hire a contractor to spearhead my full kitchen remodel whose responses are slow. I had hoped to find a contractor with decent ratings and an interest in possibly doing the complete gut of my kitchen, but he didn't show any interest in the actual project. The drawing he provided was adequate; not terribly detailed? and that's as far as we will go.
The actual date of service may be a bit off, as I don't remember when this was performed.
The crew arrived on time, did the work as specified in the deal, and acted professionally when dealing with me. I can't really tell how good of a job they did with the roof, but I haven't had any problems with their work thus far.

Early on, things seemed to go fine. It turns out that I was home sick for the first week and a half, so I was there and saw that they got there at a reasonable time and stayed most of the day. The workers seemed nice and it was good that I was there to answer questions. This was during the demolish part.

Once they began to do the building, it was clear that they didn't know what they were doing. They hung mirrors crooked, the chair rail was not level, they put sinks in wrong (even though the plumbing should have told them to location), they did sloppy trim work, and there were holes in the grout in the shower. They agreed to hang the towel bar in the shower, but they didn't have the tools to do so (it is still not hung). So much had to be redone. After two months, it seemed like the job would never end. Snow kept them away and after that, they began to not come every day.

I was promised at least eight times "We'll be finished on Friday (or Monday)". We finally asked that they not return (with only the towel bar unhung.) The job is fine, but the process was very painful and I don't love the bathroom like I had hoped I would because of that. (I'm not even using it yet).

I would not recommend them for bathroom work.
They were able to fix the leak, as well as reseal around the chimney, exhaust pipes, etc. - all at a reasonable cost especially considering I don't climb on roofs!
The only two points that were odd. One was trying to schedule a time - it was very confusing and he wasn't exactly on time (I think). The other was his trying to up-sell me on products and services I didn't need. He was not pushy or obnoxious, but I could tell he was looking at problems that are really non-issues and could have been expensive (such as suggesting a whole new roof so water would drain off better).
Overall, quick, professional and reasonably priced.
Still not received on 2/24. When I emailed him, he replied on 2/27, saying, "Not sure why. The pdf was sent a while ago. I will resend when I get a chance." He responded again to the same email on 3/11, saying the same thing. As of today, 3/24, we have received nothing (I have been checking my spam folder). Perhaps the job would be too small for him to bother with? I don't know. After this, I would certainly not hire this company to do any work for me.

Did what they promised. Evaluated the roof and did some touch up. I appreciated their service and would use them again and would refer someone who might be interested in their service

I bought their Big Deal; the offer was to check out the roof and fix any small leaks. It went fine but their communications were not very good, I had to keep chasing them but when they got here they did the work. It was a little tough for them to return phone calls. They have their crew out in the field and one guy in the office and he was not returning my calls. They also needed some things done for the gutter and so they added a few bucks but I was happy with the price. The worst thing anyone can do is to ignore a customer.

The service did not turn out very good. It was difficult to schedule, and I finally got them to come out and do the inspection. They talked to me about repairs, so they didn't do the ceiling part of it, they just did the inspection, and they were supposed to come back and do the repairs at an additional cost, but I haven't been able to schedule them. They were going to credit me the money that I paid for the big deal, and credit it towards the other work, but I haven't been able to schedule them. We have had bad weather, and some of it was my fault too, because I had to change a few schedules. I would be willing to re-grade them if they came out and did the work.
